“Celebrated the last day of burger month. Loved the vargas burger great service, place was free of delivery services, just people serving people and all were happy. Fries were outstaning and even better with condiments such as malt vinegar and mustard gochujang, which i didnt even know existed ... Put that and soy sauce on the fries. Last, the frito pie is great, and kd say the chili in there is better than the one from the santa fé woolworth's“

“Tacos Dos Pillo in Altadena is one of my favorite spots! I come here at least once a week, and the food is always fresh, delicious, and full of flavor.

This time I ordered an asada burrito, two orders of potato tacos, an order of fish tacos, and a Jarritos everything was excellent. The asada was flavorful, the potato tacos were perfectly crispy, and the fish tacos were delicious.

The chefs here do an amazing job, and you can tell they take pride in the food they make. The quality is always consistent, which is why I keep coming back week after week.

Definitely one of my go to taco spots in Altadena. Highly recommend!“

“I got two burritos and a veggie taco for $30 but it was so worth it. Very yummy ? and clean. I don’t eat out at all usually because of covid but we were in between hikes and got hungry. There was one cook and one cashier and both were wearing masks. Thanks guys!“

“Walked here from corner of Sunset and Lilac. The tacos here never disappoint. They are always made to perfection. Down to the slice of onion with the mole taco, and the avocado on the Tinga. They always give perfect presentation and quality. We had a Jamaica and horchata.
Enjoyed every sip and bite.

And super friendly customer service. I love when people also acknowledge my son as a customer too! And allow him to order or grab his own drink.

“Came here for the 1st time after years of driving by. We got the sampler knowing it was small tacos, but assorted fillings, which is perfect. Also, we ordered a pork tamale, ceviche tostada, cochinita taco, and chile relleno burrito, all items were on their cute chalk board, no prices though.
Everything we tried was delicious and fresh, some of the tacos didn't need salsa, but highly recommend you get all of them. The ceviche tostada was a refreshing bite after those spicy tacos, I almost ordered another, but had to try the rest. The tamale was crumbly(?) dough like we prefer and the chile relleno was also good in comparing it to other restaurants around there, but not as hearty as at a burrito place.
We will be returning to try other items and more ceviche tostadas.
Parking is hard to find in the area when street sweep passes, but there's a public lot a block away you might find parking or bus it.“

“Was really excited to try this place with a galpal recently, and while the space itself is no doubt gorgeous, found the service and food a bit lackluster. We waited a long time to be greeted and get water once sat, even though the restaurant was only partially full - so much so the server did apologize once they did show up. But then we proceeded to wait a long time again to place our order, and then had to flag down our server after waiting a long time to get another glass of wine mid-meal. Overall, it was a fine experience, but was really shocking to be charged a credit card fee on the bill. I can't imagine folks are paying cash often at this price point, and I've never ever been passed a 3% credit card fee at a nice, sit-down restaurant.“

Can’t go wrong with anything you order honestly. Ask for the carrots they’re delicious. They do the work with quality and good stuff cause I usually get a tummy ache from Mexican food but from here I don’t. Totally worth coming here for tacos.

They only offer outdoor seating so make sure to go at a cool time. Staff is great and they’re quick even when they’re busy.“

If you want authentic Mexican food and you want it served home style and you want to be taken care of by the sweetest lady that will immediately bring warmth to your heart, stop looking this is it. I make this trip from Inglewood and I'll be coming here more often. I came here once and had am amazing experience. My mother works down the street at the general hospital, she had never tried it. She went by on my recommendation and now she's got her entire office hooked. We met here and after 2 years of not being here I realized how much I was missing out. I forgot how special this place is. You can't go wrong with anything she makes. I went crazy and ordered like 8 things the first time because I wanted to sample everything. Well I came back and she gave me multiple samples of all kinds of things on the house and let's just say I order another 6 things to go. All of it amazing. Believe me this lady has talent, skills and the charisma to keep you entertained as if you were visiting your Tia or grandmother in Mexico. “We visited El Compadre to celebrate my uncle’s birthday, and overall it was a good experience. One of the highlights was definitely the famous flaming margaritas. They were fun to watch, very flavorful, and a great way to kick off the celebration.

I ordered the enchiladas, and they were rich, tasty, and very filling. The portion size was generous, and I couldn’t finish the entire plate.

The service was decent, but it took a while for the waiters to come and take our order. Also, the complimentary chips and salsa brought to the table at the beginning were disappointing. The chips tasted like old oil and had a strong oily smell, which wasn’t the best first impression.

The food and margaritas were the stars of the visit, but there is definitely room for improvement with the service and the quality of the chips.“

“Came here during ciclavia. Got the rosemary potato tacos and they were phenomenal. Crispy, not drenched in oil and the bed of cabbage it was on was slightly pickled and crispy. The chili crisp on top was a slapper!!! Can’t remark on ambiance because it was ciclavia and music was super loud so I was screaming my orders and I couldn’t sit inside. One of the salsas has fish sauce so ask ahead of time if you’re vegetarian. Street parking only and no credit card accepted when I went. Will have to go back to try the rest.“

There was probably 20+ people ahead of me with multiple orders but it only took 25 minutes to get through since he's so efficient. It can be so amazingly rich and heavy for some folks but this is what you're coming for! A guilty pleasure ruminating in cheese, mayo and liquid butter and corn. I prefer the bowl over the cob since it's much easier to eat. I also recommend getting two at once so u don't have to wait in line again and it's so cheap. 100% recommend!“

Also they had so many kinds of beer I lost count when the lovely server listed them off to me. I ordered the basa fish fillet w/garlic mojo that came w/the sopa de albóndigas (or salad if you desire). Everything was seasoned to perfection w/passion & authenticity. Chef’s kiss 😘 My friend ordered the chicken mole enchiladas which were so delicious as well & I’m not usually a huge fan of mole. We were impressed!! I’m sad I didn’t know about this place before, on a whim I said let’s try it because I wanted to support an OG local business. Sadly I see that LA has quickly been losing its OG institutions that make this city unique & special. We’ve gotta support these places so they don’t disappear. “When they say spicy it really is! We were at Monkish down the street and wanted some ceviche or aguachile and saw this place as we drove down the road. We went with the shrimp aguachile and were warned it was spicy. They weren’t wrong but it was SO GOOD. We got the 12 ounce size with 4 tostadas and it was perfect to split for two people. Washed down with a cucumber and lime agua fresca it was the perfect combo!“

“Truly the best Mediterranean in the area. Buttery fluffy pita and homemade hummus that is so creamy. The falafels are so moist and never dry. Agua Fresca is also so insanely good. Will go out of my way to come here. Highly highly reccomend!!!!!!“
