“Celebrated the last day of burger month. Loved the vargas burger great service, place was free of delivery services, just people serving people and all were happy. Fries were outstaning and even better with condiments such as malt vinegar and mustard gochujang, which i didnt even know existed ... Put that and soy sauce on the fries. Last, the frito pie is great, and kd say the chili in there is better than the one from the santa fé woolworth's“

“Best pub in the Altadena area. It is a family run business, and really, a more traditional "public house." Not too many places like this around! Guiness and other European ales on tap. Nice selection of wines too. Say hi to Judah, Gail & family and help support Altadena!“

“My family and I visited this cookie shop for the first time last weekend and we are all SO GLAD we did! We are cookie lovers, and avid hobby bakers, ourselves so we have high standards when it comes to cookies. We tried 6 different kinds of cookies and every one of them was absolutely delicious! The shop vibes are awesome, every person working was so kind and positive. I am so thankful to have this great place in my town to hang out and get great treats at. 10/10 recommend and we will be back again!“

“Tacos Dos Pillo in Altadena is one of my favorite spots! I come here at least once a week, and the food is always fresh, delicious, and full of flavor.

This time I ordered an asada burrito, two orders of potato tacos, an order of fish tacos, and a Jarritos everything was excellent. The asada was flavorful, the potato tacos were perfectly crispy, and the fish tacos were delicious.

The chefs here do an amazing job, and you can tell they take pride in the food they make. The quality is always consistent, which is why I keep coming back week after week.

Definitely one of my go to taco spots in Altadena. Highly recommend!“

“Ordered the off-menu Pomodoro pasta and it did not disappoint. The tomato and petit basil sauce was bright, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The wax beans were a standout - snappy and bright with serrano chile, toasted hazelnuts, and a tangy Frenchie vinaigrette. The garden lettuces were crisp and well dressed with radish vinaigrette, fresh dill, walnuts, and shallots. Good vibe, happy staff, great mix of flavors. The orange wine pairing tied it all together. “After our Altadena house burned down, we relocated to Barker Block and absolutely love being so close to Manuela. We used to have a fire table like yours, so dining here always carries a sense of home. Last night we brought friends, and they said, ‘This makes it hard to go out to eat in Monrovia—our restaurants cut corners with cheap ingredients and fast turnover.’ What your chefs create is the opposite: dishes with not just incredible flavor but extraordinary texture and detail. Their expertise is off the charts, and I highly recommend.“

“Sushi Gen is simply the best sushi spot I’ve found in California and honestly, the only place in the U.S. that has ever reminded me of the sushi I’ve had in Japan.

I discovered this place a few years ago, and I still remember how happy I was after my first visit. I had been looking for that same freshness and quality I loved so much in Japan, and Sushi Gen was the first place where I genuinely felt like I found it.

I’ve been back many times since, and it has never disappointed me. The quality is consistently exceptional, the fish is incredibly fresh. One of those rare places I can recommend without hesitation.“

“Came at a surprisingly slow night on Friday evening to try the signature Zhengyalov hatz and the lahmajun. Both are good and feel light and healthy. They are like pizza and calzone options without all the fat and grease. If you are a fan of herbaceous flavors, you would love the zhengyalov hatz.

Only complaint is that when we came on a hot night, the place did not have A/C, or it wasn't on.“

“Villa's Tacos were amazing! and I'm not saying this just because of the hype of the Super Bowl. I'm saying this because I mean it. The tacos were just amazing to me. Not your regular everywhere tacos. These tacos were homemade recipes. I had the carne asada, pork with potato (puerco con papa) & beans with cactus (frijoles con nopal). It's a week later that I tried these tacos and I can't stop talking about them. My favorite was the beans with cactus. Soooo good. Also, the atmosphere was just so nice and lively. I truly enjoyed every minute of my visit here. Thank you Villa's Tacos, we will return.“

“Mango Sago and condensed milk were by far my favorite. Each cup comes with 3 toppings (and a slurry of unique options). The staff was super accommodating (and friendly) and let my family and I try all the flavors. They also sell pints of previous flavors in a freezer by the register.“

“Walked here from corner of Sunset and Lilac. The tacos here never disappoint. They are always made to perfection. Down to the slice of onion with the mole taco, and the avocado on the Tinga. They always give perfect presentation and quality. We had a Jamaica and horchata.
Enjoyed every sip and bite.

And super friendly customer service. I love when people also acknowledge my son as a customer too! And allow him to order or grab his own drink.

“Was really excited to try this place with a galpal recently, and while the space itself is no doubt gorgeous, found the service and food a bit lackluster. We waited a long time to be greeted and get water once sat, even though the restaurant was only partially full - so much so the server did apologize once they did show up. But then we proceeded to wait a long time again to place our order, and then had to flag down our server after waiting a long time to get another glass of wine mid-meal. Overall, it was a fine experience, but was really shocking to be charged a credit card fee on the bill. I can't imagine folks are paying cash often at this price point, and I've never ever been passed a 3% credit card fee at a nice, sit-down restaurant.“

“The food here is phenomenal, especially compared to other Peruvian restaurants like pollo Inca. While it may not be the same, it’s definitely better in flavor. Everything is never bland, and the flavoring is exceptional. I can’t recommend it enough; you have to try it!

I wish I had pictures, but I was in a rush. They do have complimentary sauces and bread. The portions are generous, and the agua fresca is made in-house.
A bit pricey, but will pay for great service and taste in food. Gracias. ☺“

“The best spicy Chinese Food in OC/LA area hands down! They have been Michelin recommended for a reason. Their food has lots of depth of umami flavors with a good amount of spice with a refined touch. Their none spicy broths are especially good too. My faves are their dry pots, toothpick lambs, Qiao Jiao Beef. We also like their spicy ribs and boiled fish in chilli sauce, and Mao cai. Service is great too!“

“What a gem...hands down the best elotes l've ever had!! The corn man is super nice and super fast at pumping out Elote via cob or bowl. There was probably 20+ people ahead of me with multiple orders but it only took 25 minutes to get through since he's so efficient. It can be so amazingly rich and heavy for some folks but this is what you're coming for! A guilty pleasure ruminating in cheese, mayo and liquid butter and corn. I prefer the bowl over the cob since it's much easier to eat. I also recommend getting two at once so u don't have to wait in line again and it's so cheap. 100% recommend!“

“The bread is great, I have bought a few loafs there (top tip come at the end of the day and you get ten percent off bakery items) the food is good I had the roast beef sandwich, it was good but I didn’t quite like the soft bun that they used, and I asked if I could choose the bread next time, unfortunately they said that there were no substitutions on bread which is a bummer.

I do like the dining area it has a nice old time diner feel.“

She looked right through us as if we weren’t there and when we asked a direct question about ingredients she pulled a face as if she was irritated to have to answer. She handed us cold food to go when we planned to dine in. When we clarified, again she was rude. Her and her attitude is the only reason I would hesitate to return - oh, and the fact I was handed a dirty coffee cup, looked like it hadn’t been checked after removal from the dishwashing machine. However, the cashier was super helpful, and everyone that came out to check on us was charming and professional; THE FOOD WAS AMAZING, the location was refreshing, parking on the street was serviceable, the seating was plentiful, other customers were fun, and the vibe was chill.“
