I tried their Cuban sandwich for lunch, and it was huge and satisfying. The lines move quickly thanks to the efficient staff. Definitely worth the drive for affordable, delicious baked goods“

“Patty's was very communicative and responded quickly to our emails about our wedding cake. They made a cake exactly to our specifications and it tasted divine! We got the banana cake with guava filling and cream cheese frosting, and we got so many compliments on the taste. I applaud Patty's and can't wait to eat more of the leftovers :)“

I had been getting instagram recommendations on my feed for a few months (even though I don’t live in CA), and I’m glad I decided to put this place on my list to check out before I left. “If this is not the best banh mi in all of Sgv and Oc, I don’t know of any place that can beat them. All cash by the way so come prepared. Their dac biet is the perfect sandwich and their daikon and carrots are light and bouncy with fresh jalapeno with the right amount of pate and butter. They have it down to perfection, nothing less. Had an open house and served it for homebuyers and they were blown away! Highly recommend! Cafe sua da is gold too, loved the shaved ice in the coffee and not too sweet. The ladies in the back are super sweet and you can buy the baguettes and freeze them, then 350 f for 6 mins in toaster or airfryer. Get the egg rolls, and pa te so is good too. My clients loved their vegetarian banh mi too!

Vegetarian options: Just get he vegetarian banh mi! Only vegetarian thing to get or just plain baguettes! It will be worth it!“

“My favorite cake bakery . The bread is soft and moist not to sweet . The cream outside the case is also a good sweet level I like the strawberries and banana vanilla cake is my go to for any bday celebration in my house we all like this cakes .“

“I attended a kids' birthday party and they had the most delicious cake ever. It was chocolate with a fresh strawberry center. The chocolate cake was so moist. The icing was light and delicate. This cake was talked about with everyone. We kept saying, "it's not too sweet," which is the best compliment you can say for a cake. I wasn't the one that purchased the cake but I definitely will now after this.“

“Baked goods are worth the journey. Po Tarts are a great value for cost and taste.
No place to eat in but great for picking up and enjoying at home. If you get any tart, make sure you sneak one in after the purchase even if it’s in your car as it is really good.“

“09/11/25: The Latina staff member was very friendly and welcoming (same person I met on my last visit!) — her service attitude is excellent. The food here is always very, very delicious, and the little bunny cake was amazing with fresh ingredients.

However, I did feel disappointed with another staff member (Asian) who came across as unfriendly and gave me attitude. Since I am also Asian, I honestly don’t know if I did something wrong, but it made me uncomfortable.

Overall, the quality of the food is outstanding, and I truly enjoy coming here. I just hope the management can strengthen training for individual employees so that the service experience matches the excellent food.“

“I was and raised in east la/montebello. I have gone to so many bakeries in the area and surrounding areas and have NEVER ever everrrr found a bakery like Chapala. Every single item is fresh! Delicious! Mouth watering. It is so good it is addicting. Place is so clean and nicely organized. I have never even seen a fly. Stop going to your usual bakery and come try this, you will not be disappointed! No questions asked THIS is the best of the best!“

“Absolutely delicious! Can’t go wrong with SusieCakes. Chocolate cake is my all time favorite. Perfect for chocolate lovers. This time I ordered a slice of celebration cake and did not disappoint. Very moist and the flavor was just right.
They also offer a variety of cupcakes.
Jaimie helped me out. Very nice and even offered us to try a different flavor cake.

“Very cute little local dessert place. All the desserts are made fresh. My girlfriend and I were just looking for a sweet treat and found this place. We got a crème brule, a carrot cake, a macaroon and two iced teas. The iced teas are made fresh and then put over ice. They were very good. My gf got a passion fruit one and I got got mint. We would definitely come again. And the workers I think are the owners but they were super nice and even asked us to try the teas before we left to make sure we were happy with them. Would definitely come back“

“We’ve been getting cakes at this place for around 4-6 years I believe. The cakes have always been moist, soft, and extremely delicious/flavorful. A birthday cake we got of chocolate w/ strawberry filling tasted amazing but a bit dry (that was the only time that happened). We love that the frostings aren’t so sugary to the point that it’s obnoxious. It’s just perfectly balanced. My favs are the fruit tarts & vanilla cake w/mixed fruit filling. We have tasted the vanilla w/ mango cake and it’s phenomenal!! We recently tried the cream and custard puffs & they were light and creamy, 10/10 recommend. We have bought cakes here for dinner gatherings with friends & they’ve enjoyed the cakes too, always asking where we buy them. It’s true that the bakery “appearance wise” would appreciate a nice upkeep since it looks a bit old fashioned/worn out but it’s always clean and organized so it doesn’t bother us. It’s honestly a gem hidden in Montebello :)

“Follow the sign at Painter Avenue. Park your car at the first parking spot you see. Proceed down the driveway (look left) until you see the door in the fence. Walk to the left of the canopy and walk up the stairs to the "will call" office. Knock on the door until someone answers. They will walk you to the bakery where you can choose and pay for your bread. They take cash and cards. Excellent bread at great prices. I paid $5 for a large loaf of sourdough bread. Would definitely recommend!“
