“After my husband and I picked up orders from Yoshinoya, we noticed a restaurant across the Beach Boulevard advertising takeout deals: two Teriyaki Chicken Bowls for $13, two California Rolls for $9.50, and a buy-one-get-one-50%-off deal on any rolls. So we decided to swing by and grab some Teriyaki Chicken Bowls to go a week later.
When we walked in, there was an Asian auntie and a young staff behind the counter. As we ordered, we got to chatting, and the auntie told us that she used to own a restaurant in Buena Park for 18 years before moving to Stanton in this location 7 years ago. (She might be the owner but I’m not 100% sure) She proudly assured us that everything the restaurant served is fresh and delicious. Just by looking at the neatly arranged ingredients at the sushi bar section, I could already tell this place is good.
We ordered the takeout special: two Teriyaki Chicken Bowls for $13. It was such a great deal, and they were indeed very delicious. The chicken was tender, and the sauce had a refreshing hint of lemon. The bowls came with two slices of carrot, cabbage, and broccoli, along with a perfectly portioned amount of rice. Just as the auntie guaranteed , it was tasty and worth every penny. (If you dine in, there’s no discount. These deals are only for takeout.)
The menu offers a lot of variety. The lunch specials (11:00 AM - 3:00 PM) seem like a steal. Here are some combos it offers as follows and we’ll definitely be back to try more.
- **Combo A**: Chicken Bowl + California Roll for $10.95
- **Combo B**: Beef Bowl + California Roll for $12.50
- **Combo C**: Spicy Chicken Bowl + California Roll for $11.95
- **Combo D**: Udon + California Roll for $11.95
- **Combo E**: Udon + Spicy Tuna Roll for $13.95
Just last week, my friend and his family of seven came to visit Disneyland. They were craving for Asian food, so I picked up some Teriyaki Chicken Bowls from here and brought them to the park. Everyone loved the teriyaki bento ? , even the picky kids finished their bowls. Highly recommend this place.

“The teriyaki and orange chicken bowls are so good :D
The service is quick and the cashier is patient too.
The interior of this restaurant is quite nice, they have a light for every table and accommodate disabled people. I don’t see a lot of customers, if you are thinking of going here you should it’s underrated.
Wheelchair accessibility: Tables for the reason are provided.“

“EBT accepted if you're part of the RMP in your county. I appreciate the staff for confirming with me over the phone and the food quality is good but I wish the portions weren't S.O.P (standard operating procedure) I wish they hooked it up more with thicc beefy scoops of cow but it's okay as long as I'm not getting undeserved. Solid location, barely hits the 5 star“

“My dad has been coming here ever since he got his job in Fullerton. Safe to say the best part about him working there was when he would bring a fresh roll or a bowl of teriyaki. Place is great, service is fast and reliable. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is friendly. 100% would recommend to anyone wanting to find their new teriyaki Spot!“

“This place is easily one of the best sushi spots on 2nd street, delicious options with plentiful portions. I tried the Mexican, AAA roll and the deep fried California roll with all 3 being stellar. The atmosphere is lively and the greeting when you walk in from the sushi chefs is nice ?
Kid-friendliness: Kids menu portion has 4 different options, basic chicken with veggies and rice being one of them.

“Incredibly delicious! I can’t wait to go back! We had the Parmesan scallops, and the Peruvian ceviche with raw halibut. I’m not usually a raw halibut fan, but this was incredible and my favorite dish of the meal! The owner is incredibly gracious and so kind, we will be back again soon (we’ve already been three times since they opened).“

“I came here to check out their breakfast and let me tell you I was impressed. They had this toast with avocado, onions and tomatoes 10 out of 10 I even tried their breakfast udon and the broth was so delicious. I even got into their onigiri and I tried their California their crunch the tuna and the salmon, and they were all so flavorful. But their yogurt Matcha was my favorite as well as their torch spam musubi so so good definitely you’re gonna wanna come check out for their breakfast. It is such a cute little mom and pop shop. It’s like a hidden gem very friendly very clean. I’m definitely coming here to have breakfast and their actual lunch and dinner. “We get lunch or dinner at Maruichi AT LEAST twice a week! The karaage and different types of musubi are really, really good. They sometimes run out of the karaage, so that tells you how much people like it. The karaage is marinated well and cooked perfectly. It's a bummer when they run out of the karaage because the options around just can't compare. Give them around 30 minutes to fry the chicken because it's made to order. You won't be disappointed... Speaking of which, I'm going to order some now. For the musubi, I highly recommend the tuna and kurobota (sausage) -- the sausage musubi comes with the perfect amount of wasabi. This place is an absolute gem.“

“Roll & Teriyaki is a good local spot for delicious, fast-casual Japanese food at affordable prices. The quiet and clean dining area will accommodate small groups or solo diners.
The menu boasts Japanese favorites that most people will be familiar with. The value-packed combos are a real treat. I've also enjoyed the chicken and beef teriyaki bowls, as well as the sushi and roll offerings. While they may not offer as many fish varieties as other places, the ones they do have are all fresh and satisfying.
For a small, mom-and-pop restaurant, I'm glad there's a place like this close to home and affordable. The service is good. I've visited many times and the owner is a man of few words. The other staff have been nice as well.
If you're on a budget and craving Japanese food, R&T is worth checking out. There is plenty of parking in the public lot.“

“Fantasic staff! They are always so friendly and helpful! They always remember us when we come in. The shabu is fantastic. The broth selections are wonderful and you can mix and match! Produce is fresh, lots of beers on tap. Only critisism is I wish they would change their chairs, they aren’t comfortable; the food is so good though it’s worth being uncomfortable!“

“Visited Curry Do in Costa Mesa!.
Our go to location is Tustin on Newport Avenue. But we decided to try this new location as we were in the area!
Had a couple of Japanese Orion Beers and ordered the delicious Chicken Katsu with JapaneseCurry! If you've never had Japanese Curry before, you should definitely give Curry Do a try!
Freshly cooked and Crispy! Asked for the Chili Powder and a double helping of pickled radish. Have it with a side of Egg!
Try having the Curry on the side. That's my preferred way of having it!
Curry Do is definitely a place to check out when in Costa Mesa! Don't forget to visit the Tustin location too... Hi Nori!!!
Socalweekendwalkarounds definitely recommends Curry Do!

“This place did not appear automatically on Google Maps and we just saw it in the area. But so glad we did! Got the donkatsu (Donkkaseu) combo with soba. Portions were pleasantly larger than expected and we felt contently full afterwards. The katsu was fried perfectly and had a nice crunch! The donkatsu had lots of meat, and there were also side dishes that came with the meal!
It definitely felt like we got our value's worth.“

“My husband and I have tried ramen in both Japan and Korea. We couldn't forget the rich and creamy pork bone broth of tonkotsu and miso ramen, so we decided to check out this restaurant, and the broth is simply a masterpiece. For Koreans, this could even be a perfect hangover soup after a night of drinking. The broth is top-notch. We went during lunch, and the prices were very reasonable. I think we'll be coming back often.“

“Dining at Tsuruichi Wagyu is an unforgettable experience for anyone who appreciates the artistry and flavor of premium Japanese beef. From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by an elegant yet cozy atmosphere that sets the stage for a meal that is both refined and deeply satisfying.
The star of the menu is, without a doubt, the Wagyu beef. Each cut is carefully selected for its marbling and tenderness, and the quality truly shines through in every bite. The A5 Wagyu was nothing short of extraordinary—rich, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. Whether grilled to perfection at your table or prepared in one of the chef’s expertly crafted dishes, the beef here is a masterclass in flavor and texture.
The Wagu experience is highly recommended for those who want to explore the full range of what Tsuruichi Wagyu has to offer. Each course is thoughtfully presented, highlighting the versatility of Wagyu in both traditional and innovative preparations. The pairing of sauces and sides, from the delicate ponzu to the house-made pickles, enhances the meat without overshadowing its natural flavor.
The service at Tsuruichi Wagyu is impeccable. The staff is attentive and well-versed in the nuances of Wagyu, providing helpful recommendations and ensuring that each guest’s preferences are met. The attention to detail, from the presentation of the dishes to the timing of each course, adds to the overall experience, making it feel truly special.
The ambiance is intimate yet sophisticated, making it an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or a special celebration. The combination of luxurious food, exceptional service, and a serene atmosphere makes Tsuruichi Wagyu a standout destination for any Wagyu enthusiast.
Overall, Tsuruichi Wagyu offers a dining experience that is both luxurious and deeply satisfying. It’s a place where every element, from the quality of the ingredients to the elegance of the presentation, is designed to celebrate the art of Wagyu. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to indulge in one of Japan’s finest culinary traditions.“

“Saw a picture of the Yakisoba Katsu sandwich and I had to have one! It was awesome! The Katsu was crispy and the meat tender. In short it was perfect! (not dry at all!) the yakisoba noodles was a nice addition as it absorbed the tonkatsu sauce and the cole slaw dressing! I also loved the brioche bread! A perfect touch. The sandwich was delicious and not like anything I have tasted before! This with a side of the curry fries! (YUM!) I'll definitely be back for more!“

“I live in the area and love going to HanaMaru sushi with my partner. We enjoy the food and the pleasant staff who always kindly greet us when we enter and leave!
They have a wide variety of rolls so there should be something for everyone. I've enjoyed all the different ones I've tried so far. For appetizers, chicken karaage and edamame are my go-to's. They do have other items on the menu that aren't sushi so if you do come with non-sushi lovers, there will still be something for them.
For parking, just be warned it might be a little difficult depending on the time of day you go as it's in a small lot that multiple businesses share. However, we've been lucky so far in usually finding a spot either at the right time or not having to wait too long before someone else leaves.“

“If I could choose a meal to eat for the rest of my life I would say this is it! I’m from Utah, was in town for a couple of days and I always crave Hibachi. Utahs food is boring, bland and flavorless. Found this spot as I was rolling through Long Beach and decided to stop. The lady at the counter was super nice and welcoming! My order was done pretty quick and did not have to wait long. She offered to open my bottles Coke as well. The food was awesome and flavorful! If I’m out this way again I’ll definitely stop by! ???????“

“This place is GREAT! Not OK, not good… GREAT! I’ve been to all the teriyaki spots up and down Whittier Blvd, and you simply aren’t going to get a better deal than this. Very fair prices for very large portions, but which always means very happy customers.
Customer service is excellent, they have a soda fountain with Coke products (and cans for other brands), a few tables inside so good for a quick lunch/dinner or takeout.
This place is an absolute no-brainer for simple, great Japanese food. If you’ve never been, you need to come, and if you have been, you need to come back. Skip the Flame Broiler’s and Panda Expresses and be happy that you came here instead.“

“My brother and I wanted to try a new ramen place and ended up here. The food itself was great as I got the bulduk ramen and tempura shrimp and my brother got the tonkatsu. It was all good until I wanted the check. We sat for 30 minutes waiting for a check. The front of staff was more concerned with the group next to us or being idle. I have pressed to call for a server multiple times and hearing the ping letting them know a table needed help but I could not get their attention. I only got my check after the table next to us asked for a check when I told them I wanted a check. I partly blame the system for not properly letting the staff know since the ping only went off for a server request but also for how unattentive the staff is to some other guests. We were at the corner of the bar.“
