“I had the Tellicherry Chicken Dum Biryani at Kovalam Restaurant in Tracy this weekend, and it was outstanding. I have tried dum biryani from almost all the Indian restaurants in Tracy, but this one truly stands out.

They use traditional Kaima rice, a short-grain, fragrant rice from Kerala that is different from the long basmati rice most people are used to. The grains are small, soft, slightly plump, and absorb the spices beautifully, giving the biryani a rich, layered flavor in every bite. It makes the dish taste authentic and deeply satisfying.

The chicken was tender and lightly shallow-fried before being layered into the dum, which gave it an amazing texture and depth of flavor. The spices were perfectly balanced, and the aroma was incredible. You can really taste the attention to detail by owner-operator Chef Philip.

It reminded me of authentic Dum biryani back home.

Easy ordering through the new online platform, yet will not use the platform again due to the fees and other unacceptable costs calculated. An $80 order turned into $95 to take out. He was so attentive all the way through, and he was quick to bring us anything we needed - and we were definitely a needy table! The food was INCREDIBLE!
