Solid Mongolian BBQ Option in Fairfield–Suisun

I stopped by Fire Wok Mongolian BBQ on a Monday for lunch. There was plenty of seating and it wasn’t too busy. Since it’s right outside Travis Air Force Base, most of the lunch crowd was military, which gave it a steady but relaxed vibe.

I love Mongolian BBQ, and this is one of the few spots offering it in the Fairfield–Suisun area. I was greeted right when I walked in and asked if I had been there before in case I needed help, which I appreciated. I’ve worked at a Mongolian BBQ place before, so I was already familiar with the process and went straight to building my plate.

One thing I noticed was that lamb wasn’t available during lunch. I saw a note mentioning lamb is available after 3 PM for an extra charge. There’s another Mongolian spot in Suisun that offers lamb at lunch with no extra charge, so that was a small downside for me.

That said, the ingredients were fresh, the food tasted good, and overall it hit the spot. The space could use a bit of an uplift or refresh, but it was clean and functional.

Overall, a good lunch option if you’re craving Mongolian BBQ in the area. I’d come back again—especially later in the day if lamb is available.“

“Very good food. The speciality item - sesame chicken was very soft. The zhang liang mian could was a little bland - but had fresh ingredients. The xiaolong baos were really tasty. Overall, a great place to visit. The service was fairly quick.“

“Absolutely the BEST chinese food in Northern California! I only wish I lived closer. Yes, we drive past dozens of Asian restaurants and deal with traffic that can take anywhere from 1-3 hours each way to eat at Wah Shine. I discovered them in 1988 when they were in Citrus Heights and I lived down the street. That location closed in the early 2000s. I was devastated! The food and the staff were all so outstanding. I went on a journey to find Chinese as good as Wah Shine but never did. Then I found out they were in Vacaville. I had my doubts if the food or service would be the same. To my delight, they are!
The ONLY change I would make is to update the decor. Thats it! DONT CHANGE A THING WITH THE FOOD! Oh, and I'd add DELIVERY TO ROSEVILLE (I'd happily pay for that service!)

I can say that we have NEVER, and I mean NEVER, since 1988 had anything that wasn't so delicious your eyes roll back in your head!

And I recommend that you get hot tea with your meal...it really adds a little extra something!

“We are two adults and one small child. We ordered the Orange Chicken which was crispy, hot, and flavorful. The Cashew Chicken came with large tasty cuts of green bell pepper and onion. The Chicken Fried Rice was what one would expect. Crab Puffs were the last thing to arrive at our table, but it was worth the wait to have them hot and fresh. We left satisfied with our 3 entrees and appetizer, but we felt the portions should have been larger. Would return for lunch.“

“WOW! There are not enough adjectives in the English language to describe how phenomenal this food was. I have gone all around California, and this is the BEST Chinese food I have eaten EVER. I got the Salt and Pepper Chicken, Walnut Shrimp, Beef and Green Beans, Crab Ragoons, Egg Rolls, Hot and Sour Soup and a couple more item's. Every single dish perfectly encaptured perfection in each bite. The Salt and Pepper Chicken was well seasoned, hot, crispy and juicy. The Walnut Shrimp was doused in delicious sauce, toasted walnuts and crispy shrimp. The Beef and Green Beans were salted to perfection, beef melted in the mouth, green beans were snappy. The Crab Ragoons were heaven in a bite, nice and crispy, perfect crab to cream cheese ratio. The Hot and Sour Soup was mouth watering, filled with all sorts of seasonings and veggies, each sip was healing my soul. The place was nicely decorated, lots of culture to it. The bar looked very clean and polished, like the rest of the restaurant. I got service with a smile the whole time, our waiters were very patient with me. I will do the 25 minute drive to go here every time I crave Chinese food, because frankly, this food was so good it ruined my go to spot for Chinese and became my new one! I will recommend to everyone I know!!“

“Food is delicious. I would score it a 5..if the place wasnt run down. But the place is clean . My family and I have been going here since 2000. I'm half Chinese and their food quality is spot on! The service portions are enough for family sharing. Their price has gone up just like other restaurants because of the economy but I'm glad the flavor remains great! They cook fast and fed our family of 11! This is my go-to when I also want to pick up food after a long day at work! I'm never disappointed! Egg foo Yung, eggplant shechaun, Hong Kong style noodles, pork spareribs, fish with black bean sauce, onion pancake, honey walnut prawns are my favorites!“

“I first came here a couple weeks for the egg drop soup cause I was feeling sick. I fell in love with egg drop soup, and I’ve been back almost any chance I can get! I’ve had the Rangoons, Orange chicken, etc. the price is also amazing ! I can’t eat a lot of food so having the option to have half a pint is wonderful ! Stirfry Express is a big hit at our home! “Very nice food and we enjoyed everything from this small shop. Broccoli beef, orange chicken, and hot and spicy chicken all were simple and enjoyable. Small entree is under $10 and includes one dish with fried rice or chow mein. We added spring rolls and pot stickers separately. Very kind lady greeted us at the front counter. “Oranage chicken and chicken fried rice, I have been getting it for the past 4-5 years, and my god. Best Chinese food in the area. I am from back in New Jersey, and man, this come second place from the best chinese food ever. I didn't have any veggies, but I wanted extra eggs for $2. “I came here on a whim, while my wife was getting her lashes done. I will tell you what a wonderful discovery and experience I stumbled upon. The lady behind the counter is very pleasant and nice taking your order the food is delicious and fresh. I got the ribs, rice, chow mien, sweet and sour pork, and a potsticker for got measure. Not a single bite was bad the ribs were tender the sweet and sour is home made the potstickers freshly steamed/pan fried. I this hidden gem is worth the drive from Fairfield to say the least. I couldn’t be happier with my lunch and am thankful this is here. All that and a drink 22$. Literally can not bet this place“

Wow! This place is affordable and great quality. When you think Chinese food, this is the place you want to call. Cashew chicken, sweet & sour pork, and chicken broccoli were the dishes we ordered. The lady that took our order was a sweetheart. We found our new Chinese restaurant! Thanks so much!!!“

“As a group, this is our go to spot for lunch about once monthly. The service is exceptional, with the staff paying close attention to your needs or wants without you even being aware they are paying attention. Your water glass is never empty, unless you tell them no more. I complimented the tea they served, they sent me home with a small container of their jasmine tea! Who does that! The food is delicious and I absolutely love the staff. I'm so happy this restaurant is in our small town. A plus for Suisun City.“
