When we chose the UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens as our wedding venue, we were a bit disappointed to discover that our catering options were limited to only a handful. Little did we know that this was the biggest blessing and we had stumbled upon some of the greatest food we’d ever had. Early in our wedding planning process, Tony of Blue Heron set us up with a tasting at their store. Being a family that is afflicted by Celiac Disease, we were keen on finding a caterer that catered to our needs. The menu that was presented at our tasting was impeccable. The entree options were stuffed chicken, tritip, and eggplant puttanesca. It was near to impossible for us to even decide which item was best. The starter courses were fantastic, the wine pairings incredible, the cocktail appetizers just immaculate. On the actual wedding day, Blue Heron’s staff were fantastic. All of the food was highly praised by attendees and the service was well provided. Although we were wildly distracted by the whole getting married aspect of the day, the food stood out and left a lasting imprint that we will be discussing for the rest of our happy days.“

Planning a milestone birthday can be stressful, but the moment they set up, we knew we were in great hands. The meats were so tender and perfectly marinated, and all the sides and sauces tasted fresh and authentic. “Real, honest BBQ. I had the 2 meat combo with brisket, ribs, mac & cheese and potato salad. Best BBQ I have had since I was in Austin Texas! The owner was working hard with the rest of his employees and was the one to take my order. He seemed very nice and was helpful. I work within walking distance so I can see myself becoming a regular here. Canyons is an excellent addition to Castro Valley's food scene.“

We spoke to a gentleman about the last minute issue and he was more than willing to accommodate us to get an order out on a 48 hour notice - I am so so so grateful

So we ordered a greek salad with feta which arrived very fresh and it was delicious!! We had a charcuterie type tray along with the 3-cheese pasta. Starting with the tasting (best part of wedding planning!), Teri was so friendly and helpful sharing lots of tips as we began the planning process. As soon as we tasted the first dish, we knew we came to the right place. Everything we tried was delicious and the presentation was top notch! Teri was so great to work with as we ironed out all of our menu and table setting details. We had around 150 guests at our wedding and the La Bocca Fina team truly went above and beyond making sure everyone was taken care of. From cocktail hour to dessert, every dish was delicious and beautifully served. Our guests are still talking about how delicious the food was! “Upon entry, I found the associates courteous with their smiles and slight bowing from the waist. A very Asian trait that, on top of the recording of the music of internationally renowned Arjit Singh in the background, added authenticity to the place. The servers were professional yet very warm and friendly. I ordered the flat bread with broccoli and onions, with a request to tone down the spiciness because of a previously bad experience with Indian food in San Diego. The flat bread was served hot with the delicious aroma of the spices wafting from the generous helping of the round bread that filled the entire 12" diameter pan! I was able to see and enjoy the taste of both the broccoli and onions in the flat bread. It was even served with a side of sliced fresh onions in vinegar and soy sauce together with another side of white sauce that tasted like cream of broccoli soup. Everything on the table, including a complimentary mango-with-yogurt drink, was a perfect blend, and I did not have to drench the table napkin nor my shirt with my sweat due to the level of spices tolerated by Indians but excessive to non-Indians. They gave me, a non-Indian, a spicy meal that I relished earlier this evening! Kudos to the entire staff!“
