“A small neighborhood Mexican Panaderia. Very nice people and lovely traditional Pan Dulce. They also have various Breakfast sandwiches, egg with chorizo, potatoes with chorizo well from what I remember. The owner is a loving older lady extremely nice. Makes you feel as if she's your Aguelita.“

The trays where the pan is placed looked filthy. They don't even wipe it down in between customers. I couldn't help question other sanitary practices there. “The San Pedro location, unfortunately, wasn’t accepting online orders, so I made the trek to the Long Beach location. Thankfully, this location was accepting online orders, sparing me a 6 a.m. pastry pilgrimage. I scheduled a 12:45 p.m. pickup but didn’t arrive until 1:45 p.m., so I won’t fault the pastries if they weren’t piping hot.

Colossus Bakery on 2nd Street sits near some of my favorite Long Beach spots, like Holey Grail Donuts and Win-Dow. I ordered three items: a cardamom bun, kouign amann, and pecan sticky bun, eaten in that order, which also reflects my ranking.

The cardamom bun was delicious: the spice came through without overpowering the pastry. It was denser and doughier than the light, airy pastries I usually favor, but still excellent. The kouign amann was similarly dense, though each bite had a satisfying audible crispness. The pecan sticky bun lived up to its sticky reputation with plenty of nuts, though it ended up my least favorite of the three (but still very good).

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my pastries. I imagine they’d be even better fresh or warmed, and I can’t wait to work through the rest of the menu. Colossus Bakery has officially joined my elite Los Angeles/Long Beach pastry rotation. Highly recommended!“

While other bakeries overload their cookies with sugar and unesessary distractions, Foodology gets it right with an assortment of treats for everyone. I love the small cookie cubes as they're perfect for sharing or for the kids if you dont want to give them a huge portion.“

Parking can be rediculous as it's mall parking, best to NOT park where Google tells you to (in front of the main entrance to PF Chang's and Lazy Dog) and go over to the side of the building by the entrance to the Mitsuwa Food Court for easiest access!

We were looking for someone who could provide all the dessert for our wedding, bring us something other than a traditional wedding cake experience, and also bring some extra flair to our big day. Marsha did all that and more. Our cake table was decorated so beautifully! She made the most delicious cupcakes of all different flavors for our guests to enjoy. She even made an ADORABLE cake topper for us that everyone raved about. In addition, Marsha made us a gorgeous, delicious, moist 3 layer cake , and she even was able to bring a ROLLED ICE cart too! People could not get over how cool it was to have rolled ice cream at our wedding, especially because Marsha had extra cupcakes to put in with the ice cream. She was so collaborative, easy to work with, and fun. Everything we asked her to do, she accommodate, often gently giving her sage advice along the way. We could not possibly recommend Marsha any higher than we do. She is absolutely incredible and soooo many people raved about their experience with her at our wedding. 10/10 for everything!!“

“We were able to do the northern lights dinner, which is very difficult to get a reservation for so we were blessed. We really enjoyed the evening and the service and the food was excellent. I give a four because the first three courses were just sublime, but that final entrée seemed to me to not be as good as the first three but it was delicious, just not as scrumptious as the first three courses. These special dinner events are a you must try and I love everything that Nonna Mercado serves.“

“I went in looking for a sweet treat and walked out with the tastiest oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. I canvased the staff asking which cookie was best and Eric assured me it’s the chocolate chip cookie. Gabby backed him up. I was skeptical. How could an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie with such small chocolate chips have enough chocolate? WELL…. Turns out the mini chips are baked into the center creating a perfectly soft and chocolatey cookie. Shout out to Eric and Gabby for being honest and having fun. 10/10 recommend.“

“This tiny bakery is THE best! The conchas and elotes pasties are my standard order here (but you really can’t go wrong with most anything else behind those glass cases. The cream cheese and pickled jalapeño bolillos are fantastic!), but they sell out quickly, especially the vanilla conchas. When I fly back home (Albuquerque), I’ll call night before, or super early morning day of, and they very kindly set an order aside.
I’ve also ordered the Tres Reyes cake here, and it did not disappoint! I’ve never NOT been stuck with a whole round of this cake, when I’ve picked one up from the grocery store. But Ramirez’s had people going back for 2nds, in spite of increasing their odds of getting “the baby” folded into it, and therefor having to host a party -it was soft and pillowy and tasty.
This place is a true gem. Definitely try them out, but be sure to bring cash, as they are cash only -strictly. But if you forget, there are a couple of stores in the strip with ATMs.

The owner was so incredibly kind and helped us pick out the right things to feed 30+ people, was super responsive via email, and even met us in person when we picked up our order to offer her heartfelt condolences. They went above and beyond to help make this difficult day easier and we were blown away not only by their compassion, but the quality of their baked goods! The memorial guests devoured everything and many of them remarked to us how great the food was :) I can't recommend Cara Mia enough and hope to visit again under happier circumstances. “First, I like to clarify the two store names (Paran Poong Cha and Blue Windmill Bakery) are the same bakery located at 15200 S. Western Ave. So my review applies to both names. This is our second time at the store and this time we bought a mini blueberry cake and 4 red bean buns. The blueberry mini cake is good, not too sweet and you can see the fresh blueberries. The fresh creme is not as light and fluffy as Angel Maid's in West LA and the cake is a little denser than Angel Maid's. Overall, the cake is enjoyable and is good alternative to Angel Maid's. Next, the red bean buns are, black sesame, sweet potato and traditional red bean bun. I have not seen so much red bean filling in a bun and when you pick up the bun, you can feel how heavy the bun is. The buns are very tasty if you enjoy red bean. The sweet potato red bean is a lovely surprise, it's one of the best we tried. The filling is a mix of red bean paste and sweet potato paste, so creamy and delicious, It's a hit in our family. Finally, the owner is very generous, she gave us two types of red paste buns to try. The red bean buns are between $3.50 to $4 each. We will definitely be back again! Note, they are closed on Sundays!“
