“This review is long overdue- LA has a few artisinal mom and pop mochi shops that have lasted for decades, and Chikara is one of them. The presentation is beautiful, these are not cheap eats as well. For $20 you can get a decently assorted box of mochi to give, they take cash only. They also prepare it differently depending if it's a gift or for yourself. Some of my favorites are the Kiku, Sakura, Nadeshiko, and Strawberry. It's definitely pricey compared to other mochi places, but in my opinion it's the chewiest compared to others.“

“Love this bakery and visit it at least twice sometimes three times a week! Love the coffee danish bread, not too sweet. Just right and a little crunchy. I buy the walnut bread for sandwiches which is not like any other bread I've ever had. Makes a sandwich that much better. Love the little crunch from the walnuts. Jin there is. Sweetheart and always greets you with a smile. The little thin disk cookies with I believe almonds are so delish I buy two bags each time I go. I am addicted to this place and hate the weekends cause I always go in on my way to work.“
“I've been going to both locations for years, but this one is more convenient for me. I love everything that they bake. My favorite is the cookies. But they also made my wedding cake. I made an appointment at the Torrance location for that. It was beautifully decorated just as I requested with different flavors on each tier: red velvet with cream cheese, yellow with strawberries and whip cream, and banana with custard. Everyone raved about it! Back to the cookies. I usually go to the Gardena location for my fix. They have a cookie special on Wednesday, but I can't remember what it is. The chocolate chip cookies are great. Pro tip: get the bag of cookies vs. individual ones for a better price. The fudge chews are a cross between a brownie and a cookie. We call them brookies. They make a maple one as well. But my favorite cookie is the peanut butter. They're slightly crispy but also soft. They also make great custom cookies and cakes, donuts, petit fours, small pastries. I'm sure there's something for everyone with a sweet tooth.“
“Got my wife the banana pudding from here because everyone says it is amazing. She loved it and I thought it was great too. It's not too sweet. Tasted like real flavors, not the weird artificial candy flavoring you sometimes get with banana desserts. Wasn't too sweet and left us wanting more. It's a little steep in terms of price because $8 for a small cup of pudding that you really won't want to share is a little ridiculous. Might try some of their other desserts but would get the same thing again when we feel like splurging. Hope you check it out and enjoy!“
“I stumbled upon this bakery because I was tired of donuts and wanted something different. The Lady at the counter was very nice and answered my questions. I had the mocha croissant, the Madeline and apricot and strawberry little jam containers. The croissant comes pretty close to the ones in France. The croissant was very flaky and tasty. I’m glad I stumbled across it and it brings back memories of France.“

They had mochi donuts strawberry and matcha flavors, 3 flavor cupcakes, passion fruit cake, guava pastry. The selection is plentiful and everything looks so delicious, it was hard to choose. “This is a retro review for a visit back on February 28, 2023. The bakery is located at the food court of Tokyo Central (the one on Artesia Blvd. and Western Ave. ). They have both indoor and semi-outdoor dining areas. I like the semi-outdoor area as it has more space, sunshine, and fresh air. The staff are super duper friendly and polite. I got the Hojicha latte which was on the light end to me. I expected more nutty and a hint of smoky taste from the Hojicha. The curry ban would've been better if I heated it. But the curry tasted good regardless. That's something I would but next time. The cheese sausage with jalapeño was good. The sausage looked dry but actually not hard to take a bite of and flavorful. They change their bread/pastry selections over time and I have come back and tried the cream puffs. I had the match flavors and they were fresh like you ate a match ice cream. Would stop over and try other stuff!“
“I just had this cake at a friend’s kid bday party and I’m just wow’d that I have to leave a review. The cake was so spongy and just enough sweetness that it reminds me of Grandma. And then the cream with the strawberries was just the amount of sweetness. I don’t know the price but just for the texture and flavor alone I would go to this place if I didn’t have a friend always making me a bday cake. Definitely will recommend to people as the mom said it was recommended for her.“
“We've been ordering cakes here for every birthday for nearly 10 years and they have always been so amazing and reliable. The costs are around average for a nice cake, (around $60 for 8in), with impeccable flavor and design. This will forever be a favorite bakery of mine. Even after so many years, the quality has not fallen at all.“
“This bakery supplies restaurants all over the SoCal metro area. My family and I first fell in love with the coconut whiteout cake at the Nordstrom cafe. I think an employee told me that the cake was from La Mousse; it was many years ago. The cafe no longer carries this glorious cake, so I order it for special occasions and pick it up. As was their previous location in Santa Monica, it's in a non-descript industrial location that you might miss. The Carson location is closer for me, but no matter how far away, this cake/bakery is worth the trip and $$“
“Very simple place but very nice selection of Mochi. Reminded me when I was a kid. Remember only Cash and Checks had to go across the street to the market to get cash. They are going to make a great present for our neighbors who just went to Japan on vacation.“
