It was the restaurant I picked for our 16th anniversary. Our server was terrific. She was attentive, had many suggestions for food, and answered all our questions. “We didn't have reservations (Friday around 4pm) and it was later in the day so we weren't sure what to expect. Then, Jason stole our hearts! We were greeted warmly, and felt immediately welcomed and at home. Jason was very knowledgeable and friendly and made sure we got a couple of splashes before we committed to a glass for purchase. Jason gave us additional recommendations for spots in the area, which helped us get in to two locations we might have otherwise had trouble making appointments at. Daniel (Pen-for-Rent owner): "Five years after Tisza -- pronounced TEE-sa, one of our all-time favorite restaurants -- left its former location in Windsor, my wife and I finally checked out its beautiful new home in Healdsburg. To our delight, we found that Chef Krisztian Karkus and his wife Alena (who has now moved out of the back of the house to charm guests as a friendly, attentive hostess/waitress) have made their restaurant's tastefully appointed new incarnation even better than we remembered it. What makes Tisza special is not just the wonderful food, drink and ambience but the sprinkling of rare (in California Wine Country) offerings on its menu, including mouthwatering Central and East European delights -- schnitzels, goulash, spaetzle, potato dumplings, wild mushrooms and, OH YES!, apple strudel -- reflecting the couple's background (he's Hungarian and she's Czech). While we didn't manage to sample everything that tempted us in this first of what will surely be many return visits, we'd be remiss if we didn't single out for high praise the house-smoked salmon with dill mustard sauce, pickled mustard seed and crème fraiche served over potato latkes. We think this fabulous starter might be more aptly named "salmon ambrosia." (If anyone can transform a fish into food for the gods, Krisztian's your guy!) “I asked someone at a nearby business where I could find good Mexican food nearby and they suggested Martin's Taqueria. I'm sure glad they did. I had the Carne Asada plate with my choice of black beans. It had a generous amount of delicious perfectly seasoned meat cooked with just the right amount of char. The garnish was fresh and crisp and it came with sour cream and guacamole. My friend had the vegetarian Super burrito and was also impressed with his meal. I'll definitely come again when I'm in the area.“

“We've been patronizing this place for a few years now and have been very satisfied (mostly to-go orders), but my last visit compelled me to share this positive experience. I came to dine in for lunch with my daughter for the lunch buffet (which is a great deal btw!). The salad bar is missing a few items seen at other salad bars, but makes up for it by being fresh. I would have liked to see some small protein options (like chicken, eggs, ham, etc) and maybe a small thing of alternative greens. The staff was exceptionally accomodating, more so than I would have ever expected from a small franchise. Regretfully, I cannot recall the name of the kind host, but you know who you are. After ordering, they offered to make a portion of the next pizza for the buffet cheese. I said it wasn't necessary, I can just eat the toppings off that she wouldn't. They did anyways. She loved it. The soda machine had to be turned off for a few minutes for maintenance, and the staff went around to each table to make them aware that if they wanted a drink, to please let him know and he will provide a canned alternative. We were even checked in on to make sure everything was good...at the lunch buffet. Establishments like this that employ kind and attentive staff such as here make me happy to spend money eating out and make me a sucker for repeat visits...especially for that lunch buffet.“

“Our team celebrated in the private rooms which holds 80 people. We preordered 9 pizzas and drinks and thanks to a special, we even got garlic twists. Yum!!! We arrived early and they were able to get all of our food out early and everything was delicious and correct. The manager answered the phone!!!!! She was amazing to work with and far exceeded our requests. This is the place to gather and celebrate. You will not find a better deal for $250. Thank you for everything!!! The high rating is also based on poor experience at other locations. When friends offer me a slice it’s usually a no for me if I’m grossed out by the place.“
