Restaurantji's Olathe guide: Where to find the ultimate Mexican flavors.
“Always like to return to the B&C when back in town. Some of the best mexican food for a traditional restaurant. Their homemade chips and salsa are yummy and the green chile smothering my burrito is what keeps me coming back. Oh and the friendly small town atmosphere and where everyone knows someone in the place -- LOVE IT!!!“
“Taco shops are a ubiquitous part of our American restaurant scene, but few are authentic with full flavor, like you'd get walking the streets of a mid-sizedmexico town. The setting might make you think you were transported south of the boarder, as it's a somewhat humble environment. To me, this adds to the experience.THESE are some of the best tacos I have had outside Mexico! Everything is made in house, including the chips.Definitely try the fish or shrimp tacos! They may change your perception of reality. The asada stands on its own as well.Highly recommended!“
“Hidden gem of Montrose. Authentic flavors, and super friendly service! Always pleasant to see a family running a restaurant together. A tantalizing array of Mexican snacks. The Strawberry cream Fresca, Cucumber Lime Fresca are refreshing. Their Mangonada is the perfect blend of tangy and sweet. The salad dish type of thing with cucumbers and mixed fruit and Tajin is mind boggling. Must try for anyone coming to Montrose.“
“This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Delta County. The food just seems better prepared, the flavors more distinct, and nicely accented with things like grilled green onions. The service is a bit inconsistent, but only because the staff gets slammed occasionally. For the number of people they cram into this tiny place, they work very hard, and we've never had to wait more than a few minutes for a booth.“
“I went in for breakfast & the food was delicious! Customer service was wonderful! From the server taking excellent care of us to Francisco himself, he stopped by to say hi. I'd definitely go & try the lunch/dinner.I got Chili Rellano (not on breakfast menu, but still available). That Green Chili was probably 1 of the best I've tried so far.The second plate is a Chorizo omelet.“
“Some of the bench seats in the booths have rips in the vinyl but somehow this is part of the charm of the place. C & J is a locals spot and the old timers and blue collar guys are a big part of what makes the restaurant colorful and special. The waitresses are top notch and friendly, but there greatest treasure may be the breakfast/lunch cook. Her food comes fast and perfect every time. She is an artist, paying attention to the small details that make a difference. The golden brown on a pancake, the melted cheese on an omelette. Don't come expecting to find avocado toast on the menu or scrambled tofu, this is straight up American diner fare, unpretentious and done well.“
“We'd never visited a "food truck" before and were very pleased with the food. Taco Bell it was not, and I loved it. As far as I can tell, everything was made to order, from scratch. The ingredients were fresh and crisp, and my wife's burrito was huge. I had three tacos asade, which at 2 in the afternoon were enough to keep me well fed for the rest of the day. Our orders also came with two sauces, one greenish and one reddish. I don't know what they were, but they, too, were delicious.“
“We visit El Jimador two or three times a month, and it's always a great experience. The cheese and onion enchiladas are our favorite, but everything on the menu is amazing. What sets this place apart, though, is the service. The staff is super friendly and fast, always ensuring our drinks are refilled and that we have plenty of chips and salsa. The cabbage is also always full, which is a small but important detail. We genuinely love this place and highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food and excellent service.“
“Amazing restaurant. Food was fresh and delicious with a menu to make our group all happy. Vegan options! Fish! Carne!Homemade flavors shine through. The salsa is the best I’ve ever had. Charming atmosphere and wonderfully friendly wait staff.Vegetarian options: Veg and vegan options. Veg burritos and enchiladas and fajitas. Delicious.Dietary restrictions: Easy to choose vegan substitutions. Veggie enchiladas were fantastic.“
“I don't know why this place isn't packed on the weekends. We went there two Saturdays in a row and there were only two other groups of people there. The food is delicious and the staff is super nice, friendly and attentive. I recommend the sushi!“
“My absolute favorite! Grew up with Taco Time! Unfortunately, I live in Oklahoma now. My first stop when I fly home is Taco Time. My last stop before I leave is Taco Time. The manager Joyce is darling. I always see her there. I’m in the food and beverage industry so I truly appreciate great food, great service and a manager that cares. Keep being awesome!“
“Wow!!! Cortez, Co what luck!! Your newest Mexican Restaurant, Agave Azul Taqueria & Bat is a wonderful gem!! I had the Al Pastor burrito, which was absolutely delicious!! When I have to take half my meal home because it's too big to eat, it's a win win, I have lunch the next day . Their salsa bar is all house made salsas which, of the three tried, all were AHHHmazing. The food was fantastic! Prices were good and portion sizes were great. Staff was friendly, and the bar tender, Aldo, made a mean margarita!! I definitely recommend checking the place out. There are so many delicious options on their menu, I can't wait to go back.“
“We hit up this little spot last weekend and their menudo was to die for! A little heavy on the salt, but nothing some lime couldn’t help. They add hominy to it & it’s a great mix. My wife had Al pastor tacos. 8/10. A little on the overcooked side. Overall it was delicious & we will be back.“
“This was a unique experience that I was not expecting. The menu is extensive with many options for meatlovers or vegetarians. There were so many seafood options I thought I was on the coast of Mexico. The staff were very professional and were dressed nice.“
“Three tacos and a drink. Quick. You know what you are getting. Pretty much the same at any Taco Bell you go to.The difference with this visit was when I got to the the window I was handed my bag of food and told that the car ahead of me had paid for my food. An unexpected kindness. I will pay it forward.“
“It's all about who waits on you when you come in that makes the experience worth it I suppose. But for me and my family, I would say 80% of the time we have some of the best. But aside frome that, they make some of the best drinks (if you like them strong) and food is great as well as long as you're willing to pay a little more than other restaurants in the immediate area.“
“We arrived on a Saturday afternoon at 2pm to have a late lunch. There were a few people eating but for the most part it was empty. That should be expected since it's an odd time for lunch. The server was very nice and made sure the rice didn't have bell pepper since my aunt is super allergic. The chips were fresh and the table salsa was spicy. The horchata is good and not overly sweet but still sweet. They don't have green chile without pork, so keep that in mind if you don't eat meat. They only have pork tamales, so just know that ahead of time. I suspect the refried beans have animal lard in them due to the consistency and flavor - if not, they are magicians. ? The food was fresh and the portions are VERY big. If you are visiting Olathe for any reason or just passing through, this place is easy to access from Hwy 50. The prices are very reasonable so give them a nice tip if you come! ?Vegetarian options: Be sure to ask about their beans if you are a vegetarian.“
