Chef/proprietor Danielle Hartog Kostecki is gifted. A six-course meal that ranged from gnocchi over a spinach-artichoke purée to Wagyu beef sliders over sweet potatoes with a bleu cheese "fondue," this was an epic meal. “I saw 5 for food basing it off the amazing drinks. They do have pre packaged snacks which the adult snack pack was so good w dark chocolate almonds and fresh cut cheese. But the drinks were the show. The bartenders are so talented. I'm not a bourbon drinker but the male bartender made this smoked marshmallow drink that changed my mind. It's a small space but totally worth it!!!!“

“The Eatery did not disappoint! We were on our way back to MA and ordered breakfast sandwiches (B.E.C) and coffee to go. The coffee and sandwich were both amazing. Half of their sandwich was plenty of food and filling, but it was so good you had to eat the other half. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We can't wait to go back on our next trip to Connecticut.“

“I work nearby and I’m not sure why it took me so long to check this place out. First off, their coffee/lattes are fantastic, some of, if not the best I’ve had in the city. They have many flavors and their specialty lattes are all very good. The food is also fantastic. Fresh and reasonably priced. I’m not sure if they bake their bread in house but it’s very soft and delicious, it tastes freshly baked. I haven’t had any of their bakery items yet but I imagine they’re also great. I highly recommend this place for coffee/breakfast. It’s roomy with enough seats to relax and get some work done if you need a place to sit too. The staff is very friendly as well. A nice little downtown gem.“

“Went there with a group. It was busy in bar with limited seating so plan ahead. Everyone had a good time and was happy with their food. My doob wings were fantastic as well as the burger. Maddy our server was witty and dealt with our nonsense like a true pro. Definitely coming back.“

“I had never been to this bakery before but followed them on Facebook. One day I saw a photo of a cake they posted and thought it was gorgeous. We were planning our son's first birthday party with an "Under the sea" theme. Well....I went to check things out. Amazing little bakery. I tried their canolis, custard cups and cream puffs before ordering anything! I figured if they were good then I'll order more! They were Delicious!!! Best ever!! Rui was a complete sweetheart and bounced ideas back and forth with us and would be our main contact through the owner. They were so sweet, reliable and made us trust they'd do a great job!! I couldn't have been more happy about our order than I was. Seeing our beautiful cake made me tear up and thr cupcakes to go with it matched perfectly!! We will use this bakery over again and again! If you haven't been....do not hesitate!! THANK YOU For making our son's birthday party that much more special!“

“We got a couple smoothies which were good and made with boxed mango concentrate and ice. It was a good value for the serving size. It had an old school convenience store vibe to it with really nice owners. However, the kitchen area was a little disorganized/messy and they were eating their lunch in the food prep area.“

“I've been coming to AJ's for over 20 years. literally every time I have friends from out of town visit me and want to have a drink and some good bar food we go to AJ's. every single one of my out-of-town friends always says this is the best bar food they've ever had in their life. I literally have friends who call me up to come to Meriden just to have food from AJ's. my kids are addicted to the food at AJ's as well . I can honestly say if I ever move out of Connecticut, AJ's is one of the very few restaurants that I would ever truly miss and want to stop by if I come back to Connecticut for a visit. “We were traveling through the arena on Hwy 84 at 6 am and wanted coffee. Caffe Italia was the only place open so we drove into Waterbury. Winding our way there we almost decided to turn around and then…there it was. This was like walking into a little Italian neighborhood hangout….with EXCELLENT espresso! At 6 am there was a group of local Italians, reading papers, playing cards and generally sharing the days news. It felt like being at home with family. Great atmosphere! Lots of specialty Italian food, cheeses etc. Super nice guy who made our espresso. We would definitely stop in again for more!“

“This was my favorite study spot in college, now I come here to read before my appointments in Waterbury. I love their specialty drinks, I usually pick a drink from their seasonal favorites when I'm here. They also have a really good chicken sandwich that I'll get if I'm here around lunch time. Staff is always so nice and quick. I feel comfortable hanging out here. The only issue was I noticed a lot of their seating has the pleather torn apart so badly you can't sit on it comfortably. The benefit of this place was their comfy chairs, so hopefully they get those replaced soon!“

“This was hands down one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. My special guy's father is friend's with the owner & we brought family visiting from Italy for dinner. This was my first time trying the food, everything was delicious, portions huge. You can order larger, family style meals several days in advance & it's BYOB (love it). I was very surprised by everything as the outside along with the name of the restaurant doesn't remotely sound like an Italian restaurant. I would definitely take the ride just to eat here again.“

Much to my surprise there aren't many places that make this type of dessert. However, Amy reached out to me and ultimately made the most delicious cake ever! She and her husband were very easy to communicate with and followed through with all of my special requests. I will surely be back for more special occasion cakes!“

“Even though I don't like turkey bacon, they were able to make me a bacon egg and cheese on a croissant. It was buttery and flaky. Their spice chai comes in different levels of spiciness and they balance it well with the sweet. Would definitely return here again.“
