“Had to rub my eyes to make sure that I was in New Haven because this restaurant stepped right out of Manhattan. Each dish we enjoyed was recommended by our sever as was the fabulous wine too. The chef introduced himself before seating and checked with us just as our larger plate arrived. He added very much to the overall ambiance.“

“Fabulous food, wonderful atmosphere and great staff. Noise was a bit loud, but being in a booth made all the difference. Our waiter was great, but very busy and he had a lot of tables so it took awhile to order. He was great after that - very attentive and many other helpers. Our 3rd time there and definitely my favorite spot in New Haven!!!“

The Remedy's Cultured Cafe Juice Bar & Smoothies • $$

“I am a huge fan of the sauces, kraut, cauli, and jasmine kombucha to go and how regular fermented foods have improved my health. At the restaurant- everything I have tried is great, including the health shots and I am officially prioritizing getting here for an evening event of sorts - because I just cracked the orange kombucha. Holy moly me oh my goodness… the taste, the effervescence, the smell, the delightful fizz to watch and listen to- it’s a full body experience of what quality consumption by mouth should be. A+++ - I’m cheering for you! Keep going!!“

“Quality of coffee: 4 - good espresso drinks. I've tried them a couple dozen times and they have become more consistent this past year or so. There are flavoring options like hazelnut etc. Coffee (black) is slightly above average. Atmosphere: 4.5 - great seating areas and nooks in a historic hotel. Usually, students are studying at the various tables. Location: 5 - heart of downtown within walking distance to hundreds of restaurants and great bus/train service. Service: 5 - helpful staffValue: 4 - decent pricing Average: 4.5I can't recommend food options, as I've only had coffee here.“

“Just popped over to the cafe to grab a bite after reading reviews and was NOT disappointed! Tom was at the register and simply a pleasure to talk to. He recommended one of their egg sandwiches which was delicious (this means a lot coming from someone who isn’t a huge egg fan!); toasted with garlic salt, real white cheddar, a fried egg, and bacon- yum! Also grabbed a dirty chai and some fruit/walnut biscotti. Truth be told I’m having a hard time picking a favorite; the atmosphere and friendliness combined with the dynamite food will definitely make Cedarhurst my go to spot for traveling here in the future!“

“Lovely very friendly staff. Coffee is a solid 4/5, could go for a slightly more flavorful bean, but I happily drank it. Baked items are pretty good as well. It has a decent footprint but not a lot of seating which was fine but they can do better.“

Cafe George By Paula American • $
300 George St #101, New Haven

“The absolute best experience we have ever had when planning a party. We were hosting a number of people who would be dropping in a different times during the hours of the party. Paula took the time to help us chose foods that would have appeal to all palates. She also suggested items that made sure that we were including needs for all dietary types. We were floored how gorgeous the presentation was. The fruit and cheese tray was a bountiful combination of fruit, a vibrant floral presentation, a spectrum of cheeses of all varieties, and sweet honey that made our guests believe that had truly experienced nectar of the gods. The stuffed breads were fully packed with delicious goodness. Beef tenderloin was succulent and cooked to perfection. Paula’s lasagna was a culinary piece of artwork: the added creamy bechamel sauce enhanced the rich flavor of the beef bolognese sauce nestled between the fresh lasagna noodles. We chose a rigatoni for the vodka sauce and it proved to be a formidable vehicle to cling onto the vodka sauce. Each pasta noodle carried with it the subtle sweetness that occurs when you marry the tomatoes, cream and vodka. For those who wanted a lighter entree, we chose lemon chicken. Each serving included a generous perfectly pounded breast that was lightly coated with a sweet butter sauce and topped with a hint of fresh lemon that bursted with flavor on your taste buds. The summer-veggies were grilled to perfection. We can’t say enough about how happy we were to hire Cafe George by Paula. We did not have to worry about the food presentation or there being enough variety. It made it easier to just participate with our guests and enjoy the event. We are already looking forward to our next party so we can book Paula again!“
