“Love Italian pastry and don't have any good Italian bakeries near me. Arrived at 4pm and still had plenty to choose from. Spent $60 on 12 pieces of pastry and a bag of cookies. My husband and I enjoyed every piece. Will definitely go again when in the area.Parking: Parking in rear and there's a back entrance.“

“The shashukka is out of this world good. The little mushroom pastries are incredible. Their garlic knots are FANTASTIC. BUT I also had the gluten free pizza and wasn't impressed. The stuff on top of the crust was divine the crust itself was kind of a miss. It wasn't bad just uneven thickness and therefore it cooked unevenly and some parts were great and some were meh. Anyway get anything else and I'm sure you'll be happy!“

Edge of the Woods Market Health Food • $$
379 Whalley Ave, New Haven

“I used to come here when I lived in New Haven! What a joy. Haven’t lived in CT in several years but this market just popped into my mind. Brought a smile to my face just remembering the really really early stages of my health journey. Thank you for being a place of not only fresh food but mind expansion. I would spend hours in there just reading about the vitamins, supplements, health foods, etc.! Really a wonderful time!“

“The word that keeps popping into my head when I think of tasting Melt Chocolatier's products is WOW! Her raspberry truffles were outstanding. Here milk chocolate toasted Coconut cluster was the best coconut candy I think I've ever eaten. I can't talk about the product without mentionin g the person selling the product. Meredith could not have been friendlier. She knows her product very well. and the entire experience was a pleasure. I will be looking for Melt Chocolatier in the future“

Atticus Market Deli • $$
771 Orange St, New Haven

“I definitely recommend Atticus Market! I had the mushroom sandwich which was so good. As a vegetarian, it can be hard to find good food of substance. This sandwich was well balanced and had good flavor! I also had a side of hash browns which are some of the best I’ve ever had - SO GOOD. My only complaint is that the store is cramped if there’s more than a handful inside.“

“Hands down the best stuffed bread I've ever had in the New Haven area. Eggplant parm bread-still warm from the oven-can't beat it. Unbelievably good vanilla pound cake. And yummy seeded bread. The woman who waited on me so pleasant and nice. It's rare I go to a place reviewed with alotta 5 stars that is totally worth it and more. Great find!!!“

“Lovely very friendly staff. Coffee is a solid 4/5, could go for a slightly more flavorful bean, but I happily drank it. Baked items are pretty good as well. It has a decent footprint but not a lot of seating which was fine but they can do better.“

“My husband surprised me with a Princess cake. I mentioned I’d love to try one after seeing it in a baking show. He searched online and Marjolaine’s was the only place he could find. He drove over an hour to pick it up and it was well worth the drive! We just picked up a Dacquoise. This one was a request from our daughter. We tried a smaller version that was in the case. It was absolutely delicious! So light and airy and the flavor was divine! We are driving this cake all the way to NC and are 100% certain that our daughter will be thrilled ! We are heading back in the beginning of April for a Marjolaine for our daughter in law. It is well worth the trip!!!“

“This was my very first time in this one particular and I was very much impressed with its cleanliness, elegance, and a majority of the presentation of their baked goods. 4 out of 5!!!! I’m terribly sorry that you lost a star but that matcha brownie tasted absolutely disgusting. Never again will I buy it!!! Sorry sweetheart but it’s lacking sugar. However I do love the sweet cream filled bread you sold me. Thank you very much for helping me figure out what I want for breakfast tomorrow. Lastly, the cream green tea cake was absolutely divine. All this from being served by an incredibly gorgeous and really cashier/manager who I had to tip handsomely. I’ll definitely stop by on payday to give their specialty caffeinated drinks a try.“
