“I would like to share my recent experience at Saray Bakery. A couple of days ago I placed my order over the phone and went to pick up on Thursday. There was a mistake with my order and it wasn’t ready. The employees seemed very apoplectic and told me to please give them 15 minutes and they will fix it. Even tho I was really in a rush i decided to wait. The ladies at the counter were so hospitable that you couldn’t be mad at them. The offered me a free coffee and 2 cookies. One lady came over to apologize again and explained the situation while the other lady worked on my order. They make my order quickly and put in another free pastry to go. That was so nice! At the end it’s not the mistake that matters it’s how they handled it and how they made me feel! Thank you lovely ladies at Saray Bakery I will be back :)“

“Let me tell you! If you love sweets, this is the place to go. I'm hooked on the sweet potato cookie. I'm from the south. My mom can bake, and she bakes the best sweet potato pie. I don't eat anyone else's sweet potato pie, but the filling in this sweet potato cookie tastes like my mom's recipe! Oh my taste like home and made me cry! This cookie reminds me of holidays at home. If they're hot, I devour one in the car before I even drive off! They go well with coffee or alone. She has other desserts as well. You taste the butter and love in the cookies! “My husband surprised me with a Princess cake. I mentioned I’d love to try one after seeing it in a baking show. He searched online and Marjolaine’s was the only place he could find. He drove over an hour to pick it up and it was well worth the drive! We just picked up a Dacquoise. This one was a request from our daughter. We tried a smaller version that was in the case. It was absolutely delicious! So light and airy and the flavor was divine! We are driving this cake all the way to NC and are 100% certain that our daughter will be thrilled ! We are heading back in the beginning of April for a Marjolaine for our daughter in law. It is well worth the trip!!!“

“If you are driving the Merritt Parkway, this restaurant is a three minute drive just west of the tunnel at New Haven. A Borek is a sort of pizza popular across the Middle East and Israel with a fabulous layered thin crust with cheese or potato. Wow. This is way better than a pizza. They have a simple little seating area and will bring you warm Borek, three sauces and really really good coffee in a box so you can take the rest with You. Fun fact. Google and the rest of the large language models can *never*spell Borek. I have to correct the spelling every time.“

“Sweet Seidner's is one of my best discoveries. I'd driven past this bakeshop every week, thinking they just sold pre-ordered items. One morning I decided to stop in, and I've been visiting them almost every week ever since. Cookies, brownies, hamantaschen, cakes, bars--all equally delicious and taste authentically homemade. “Ricotta's catering service is wonderful! We are from out of state and were organizing a Shiva lunch for family living near New Haven. Given that we only had a day to plan, time was very tight and we didn't know where to turn. Luckily, Ricotta's was recommended. Sarah was great - she was flexible, willing to deliver, arranged the food beautifully, and everything was delicious. Guests, in particular, loved the sushi, the pita sandwiches and the pastries. When visiting, we can't wait to eat at the restaurant and to hopefully use the catering service for a happier event. We highly recommend them!“

“I enjoy the authentic Guatemalan coffee, the bread, they go great with my coffee. Enjoy Authentic Guatemalan tamales, reminds me of when my grandmother made them, the chuchitos, they are like mini corn tamales and great with coffee too. Definitely recommend if you are looking for authentic Guatemalan food. They also sell beautiful souvenirs.“

“So I went over a friends house for dinner and he had a Lupi's Bread on the table, Looked great. Tasted better. He told me about this little bakery in New Haven at 169 Washington Ave Lupi's Marchigiano Bakery. I went the next day for another Bread where I met Larry Lupi a true gentleman. His grandfather started the Bakery in 1900 when he came over from Italy, and now is being run by Larry and his brother Peter. So If you want to taste a little piece of heaven, stop by Lupi's and for a few bucks you can.

“I got a cake from here 2 years and it was exactly what I wanted (the heart cake). My husband loved the taste and kept mentioning it when it got closer to his birthday this year so I, of course, had to get another one. It was AMAZING! “Everyone talks about Sally's or Frank Pepe's apizza here and there but frankly the best pizza I've had in New Haven so far is from this spot. They do take forever to make your pizza on busy days, regardless it is well worth waiting for. I'm assuming the pizza would be less expensive if they didn't charge so much for toppings.
