“Made a reservation here for restaurant week. Apparently didn't need one. The place has its own parking lot with about a dozen spots. We entered the building which took us into the bar, which was bustling. The dining room was quaint, with some really nice booths and a fireplace that should have been lit. Our server was a good looking young man, pleasant, not overbearing with a sense of humor. We opted to include an additional appetizer of baked clams to our meal, along with the crab cake and winter salad, which I forgot to take photos of. My friend opted for the lamb chops while I had the branzino piccata. Yummy, although the menu never stated that the fish was served over a shrimp risotto. (I'm allergic to shrimp). Only 1 bone in the fish, so I was lucky. Our dessert consisted of tiramisu and rainbow cookie cheesecake. I was "fortunate" to get the last piece although not very cheesecake-y. All in all we had a nice dinner and will maybe return for another meal.“

Let me give you a proper suggestion: eat here, have a drink or two and then enjoy another drink and the sound view elsewhere. The diversity of the menu and the quality of the food with its unique taste cannot be beat by any place in this town by far. The drinks are great as well. Despite its location away from the water, it is typically packed especially on weekends so have patience when visiting. From my own observation it seems to be mostly local regular customers, who probably have a laugh at those visiting the ‘tourist’ spots for dinner expecting a great meal. As someone who has visited this town often and tried much of what there is to offer, this is what I would call Bayville’s best - grandma’s cooking, if you will. Give them a try.“

“Four of us went for HVRW dinner and the food was awesome. For starters we had the eggplant meatball, crab croquette and salad. Loved them all. Dinner was salmon, lamb and paella Palomino, which is my husband's favorite. Lovely service. Dessert was the flourless chocolate cake. Cant wait to return!!“

I ordered Lamb Korma (creamy cashew sauce.) We shared and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The lamb in each was tender. It was nice to share as one was rich and the other less rich with more heat. Both were balanced perfectly with spices. Each lunch plate came out Bento style with a goodie in each section - basmati rice (of course,) Aloo Tikki, a scrumptious vegetable of the day (which was potato with what I believe was tindora a.k.a. Ivy Gourd) and naan. Everything was so delicious that at the time I didn't even think to ask for the various chutneys. My friend and I agreed - we liked this restaurant very much and would definitely come back. Another positive is that it's priced very fairly. We wished we asked the waiter for his name so we could list it here and thank him for his service.“

“Darien is blessed to have an haute cuisine restaurant of this caliber right down town! The foie gras is amazing! Their fresh green salad and especially its dressing is best I've had. The Fougate goes great with their salad. Their fish preparation creates outstanding filets of fresh striped bass, with excellent accompaniments. Their Dining Room Manager is excellent source of knowledge for their wine list. And their chocolate mousse dessert is delicious! I was particularly pleased with the digestif suggested by the Manager. “I really like the seamoss variety they have there. Seamoss holds so many health benefits because it has over 92 essential vitimans and minerals within in it naturally occuring form. This for me is better than a multi vitiman. Whether you just take a tablespoon with some water or tea, or throw it in your juices and smoothies, or have a sot of it. Servers were well-meaning but somewhat disorganized (for instance, they took our drink and food orders on their tablets but the drink order never made it to, or was ignored by the owner who doubled as the bartender; I had to tell him we'd placed our drink orders as he was walking around the tables, he then asked me what we wanted. Tried roasted pistachio ice cream with marshmallows. The combination was good, but marshmallow was a bit too sweet for my taste, so I'd get it without next time. It's a bit pricey but it's an experience.“
