“Unfortunately, because of the bridge situation I can only visit on Thursday and Friday mornings and weekends. I would usually go there every weekday morning. I normally use the app and go inside to pick up my order. It saves me time, and everyone is always very pleasant and attentive. Anyway, some mornings like today they are short staffed, and I have to get on the drive through line. I don't know this until I arrive, park and get out of my car and walk to the doors to find they are locked. I can't cancel the order at this point, so I have to get on the drive through line. By then I have lost my place in line by three or more cars, and my order is cold. Please can you guys at least put one of those small plastic signs in the lot so that I know not to park and waste even more time. I have a one-hour drive ahead of me, so time is important to me. Better yet, why not install a pass-through box, so pick-up orders can be accessed even if the doors are locked. I spend thousands of dollars at Dunkin, and most of them at this branch. It is my go-to place for coffee and bagels. Love it...well most days anyway..“

“I was pleasantly surprised to find such a spot for light snacking and entertainment on the Middletown strip. I believe Back Again Cafe proves itself to be a great central hub location to meet friends, dates, and family for great snacks, drinks, and games! My friends and I like to meet to play MTG. Friendly and helpful staff, and a terrific space with high ceilings and large windows for people watching.“

“I ordered a 6in cake from Sweet Harmony for my son's first birthday. We went with the fresh fruit/whipped cream cake and it was absolutely delicious--pillowy soft sponge, yummy berries and light frosting. The whole thing was beautifully decorated and customised to our theme. Will definitely be ordering again from Sweet Harmony. Thank you, ladies!“

“I luuuuvvvv this place. They have monthly specials (check their instagram) that are illustrated on a chalkboard near the counter. Their service is fast and you can order ahead on their website if you're in a hurry. However I recommend hanging out to absorb the vibes. I love all the paintings on the wall and the secret-eyeball-tree sculpture reminds me of something out of Meowolf. Plus the baristas are friendly and always ready to recommend a drink or new flavor in stock. It's also the only coffee shop whose merch I constantly drool over, just so fun and tongue in cheek. Try the matcha, you won't be sorry!“

“Was traveling for work and stopped at this adorable little shop with a great purpose. The employees were warm and welcoming. There is plenty of room to work, enjoy time with family and friends, or eat. The ambiance is beautiful with lots of plants, activities, and great lighting. The cappuccino and bagel I ordered were both delicious!“
“I've been getting my coffee from Deep River Roasters for years now, I used to roast my own or have it shipped from assorted roasters around the country. As a pretty big "coffee geek", I can say after trying everyone in CT that I have found, and quite a few places overseas, that there is no place I would rather get my coffee from. You're not going to find anyone around here with fresher roasted beans, or more care put into them. Fantastic coffee and fantastic people, who will certainly go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your coffee. Do yourself a favor and go now! Unless you're too far away, then check their website, because they also ship their beans!Parking: Huge parking lot at the Witch Hazel Works building.“

“A number of people have raved about Mitchell's on Main. I have eaten at a Mitchell's before, but not this one. I have also eaten in the building housing this Mitchell's when it was a different breakfast place. Mitchell's is not fancy and offers reasonably priced breakfast options. We had a short wait for a table for 5 people on a Saturday morning. They managed the line well and service was pretty efficient once we were seated. I ordered a Sausage Egg & Cheese on an everything bagel. It was decent. The sausage was in link form, which is not ideal for a bagel sandwich. The cheese could have been a bit more melted. Nothing really stood out positive or negative otherwise. I also ordered a side of corn beef hash. It was a fairly standard version. It didn't pop for me, but it was fine. My son ordered a chili omelette with cheese and some veggies. He was thrilled with it. I had a couple bites and it was definitely the best thing I tasted that morning. The chili was sweet. Mitchell's is a fair breakfast spot, and when you factor in price, it certainly could be an appealing option for some people. I prefer other breakfast options within my driving radius. 3.5 Stars“
“Go...taste some of the best cheese selections this side of the Atlantic . Let the wonderful owners suggest something , but don't stop there...browse the chocolates and pastas, the jams and ready to bake pies, ice cream and so much more...like sourdough and baguetts. It is a Hidden gem .“

“Amazing coffee options, great vibe, many milk options(and in general, very accommodating to dietary restrictions). Only knocking a star off because the worker was not very informative and it looked like I was bothering him just by being there. Not too welcoming but I am sure thats not a good representation of their service. Will be back! Loved the Cloud 9 and some other coffee drink. Dream something. Soo good.Dietary restrictions: Great milk alternatives“
“I was in here to poke around to Pick up a few little things for stocking stuffers. Lots of old fashioned candy I thought I'd order a couple sandwiches to go seeing it was getting close to Dinner time . I'm so very glad I did! I got a Rueben with Pastrami on a hard roll and a Black Forest Ham with lettuce and tomato, cheese on a hard roll. Best sandwiches we had in a long time. The service there was OUTSTANDING. Such very nice people. I haven't been here in a long time, but I'll be back for sure. The selection of sandwiches is great and they also have soups and many other things in the deli too. If you get a chance stop by you will be very pleased“
“Had an amazing brunch special today! By far the best sourdough breakfast sandwich toasted with arugula, egg, avocado, bacon and cheese. Cash only, but worth the extra stop at the ATM. Fabulous food for the price and super friendly staff! New to the area and this is going to be a weekly must!“

“Story & Soil Coffee Shop is located inside the Wesleyan RJ Julia Bookstore. It's good to know that there are other bookstore and coffee shop partners other than Barnes & Noble and Starbucks. This is an independent bookstore and coffee shop. Right when you walk inside, you'll notice the coffee shop. They have places where you can sit throughout the store. I'll be reviewing the bookstore separately another time. There was an ad for the pistachio latte, with orange blossom cold foam. That had to be what I was getting. This was an expensive latte, it was $7.00 for a small. This was a special treat type of a latte for sure. The pistachio flavor in this latte was better than some pistachio ice creams I've had. Then the orange blossom on top, the combo of the two flavors was a bit too sweet for me. It felt like I was having ice cream rather than coffee. This was very tasty! At Story & Soil they use Giv coffee beans, the best in Connecticut. So you know they're going to craft a great coffee.“
“There’s such a variety of yummy treats at Essex Chocolates! I always find something to enjoy for myself or a gift to buy for a special occasion. They have a nice range of items from homemade to name brands to novelty. The handicap entrance is next to Scotch Plains Tavern; the entrance just outside the chocolate shop has a few steps. Plenty of parking on both sides. Check out the local handmade gifts or just stop in for a beverage or ice cream!“

“Pictured was their two specials one was a meatloaf sandwich and the other was a grilled cheese. Great little sandwich shop in Essex. Little on the pricy side but quality of food was very good. Workers seemed to be having fun so that was also great to see. Will go back for sure! Would recommend to anyone who loves good lunch food.“

“Brewed Awakening is such a cute coffee and breakfast spot! It's the perfect little distance/detour on the way down to Rocky Neck beach! The kind person who runs it was super patient when we were deciding what to order, and seems to know some of the locals (and what they'll enjoy) pretty well! My friend loved her maple flavored coffee, the breakfast sandwich she ordered, and I can attest that the muffins were great! Not to mention, the name of the shop is AWESOME! ?? Thanks Brewed Awakening!“
