“I stopped off here after visiting Hubbard Park. As much as I enjoyed the park, this might have been the true highlight of my stop in Meriden. My test of an Italian bakery is the quality of its cannoli. Theirs is hands down the best I've ever had. The pastry shell is light, crisp, and flavorful and perfectly supports the filling, which is rich but not too sweet -- combined, they make for a true masterpiece. I took a box of other pastries recommended by Irene, who owns the bakery along with her husband. They've been in business for 38 years. I'm going to make it a point to visit whenever I drive up that way. It's that good.“

Their service is fast and you can order ahead on their website if you're in a hurry. However I recommend hanging out to absorb the vibes. I love all the paintings on the wall and the secret-eyeball-tree sculpture reminds me of something out of Meowolf. Plus the baristas are friendly and always ready to recommend a drink or new flavor in stock. It's also the only coffee shop whose merch I constantly drool over, just so fun and tongue in cheek. “Met some friends here for the first time this past Sunday and we had a great experience. The place was jamming! We almost couldn’t find a seat. During the warmer months they have seating outside too but It’s a bit early in the season, so we were told. The atmosphere was lively and busy.The staff were attentive and the drinks were delicious. We ordered the flight of course and then had a few more. My personal favorite was the Cookie Monster! Liquid crack for lack of a better term is the best way to describe it. If you don’t like sweet than you definitely want to stick to a traditional espresso martini. The presentation was great and our entire group was happy. We will be returning. “A number of people have raved about Mitchell's on Main. I have eaten at a Mitchell's before, but not this one. I have also eaten in the building housing this Mitchell's when it was a different breakfast place. Mitchell's is not fancy and offers reasonably priced breakfast options. We had a short wait for a table for 5 people on a Saturday morning. They managed the line well and service was pretty efficient once we were seated. I ordered a Sausage Egg & Cheese on an everything bagel. It was decent. The sausage was in link form, which is not ideal for a bagel sandwich. The cheese could have been a bit more melted. Nothing really stood out positive or negative otherwise. I also ordered a side of corn beef hash. It was a fairly standard version. It didn't pop for me, but it was fine. My son ordered a chili omelette with cheese and some veggies. He was thrilled with it. I had a couple bites and it was definitely the best thing I tasted that morning. The chili was sweet. Mitchell's is a fair breakfast spot, and when you factor in price, it certainly could be an appealing option for some people. I prefer other breakfast options within my driving radius. 3.5 Stars“

“We’re from NY and were visiting the area. I checked on Yelp for breakfast places and saw Bob’s had good reviews with affordable prices. I’m glad we went here! The decor is pretty bare bones, but very clean. I personally don’t care about decor, but maybe some do. As soon as we walked in, we had two wonderfully cheerful ladies greet us. We told them that we wanted to order takeout. They gave us some menus and took our order right away. We had a seat, waiting for our food and were asked by a couple of different waitresses if we had been helped. One asked us if we wanted coffee while we waited. There were probably about 6 occupied tables when we went, and it seemed like many might have been regulars just based on the conversations they were having with the waitresses. We heard a lot of “Hey Joe, how ya been?” type stuff. I love places like that. Our food came out super quick, less than 10 minutes. The ladies at the hostess stand who took our order made sure that we had everything we needed for condiments and plasticwear. Before we left we also picked up some apple bread that they were selling at the hostess stand for $6 a loaf. I’d definitely recommend it, it was delicious. Prices were super affordable, which is pretty much the main reason why we went there in the first place. We both got French toast and a side of home fries each. Both were very good but we both LOVED the home fries! We actually considered going in and ordering two more helpings lol! They were nice and crispy and were actually seasoned, unlike a lot of breakfast places that just give you bland home fries. If you’re looking for a great breakfast that won’t cost you a ton, give Bobs a try. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in the area.“

“Story & Soil Coffee Shop is located inside the Wesleyan RJ Julia Bookstore. It's good to know that there are other bookstore and coffee shop partners other than Barnes & Noble and Starbucks. This is an independent bookstore and coffee shop. Right when you walk inside, you'll notice the coffee shop. They have places where you can sit throughout the store. I'll be reviewing the bookstore separately another time.There was an ad for the pistachio latte, with orange blossom cold foam. That had to be what I was getting. This was an expensive latte, it was $7.00 for a small. This was a special treat type of a latte for sure. The pistachio flavor in this latte was better than some pistachio ice creams I've had. Then the orange blossom on top, the combo of the two flavors was a bit too sweet for me. It felt like I was having ice cream rather than coffee. This was very tasty! At Story & Soil they use Giv coffee beans, the best in Connecticut. So you know they're going to craft a great coffee.“

This was my first time trying the food, everything was delicious, portions huge. You can order larger, family style meals several days in advance & it's BYOB (love it). “Look, here to say, I do not like Dunkin' Donuts AT ALL. In fact, I love Dunkin' Donuts! They have delicious coffee that are filled with love and their donuts are amazing! The service is usually pretty quick, but sometimes I have to repeat myself because sometimes the cashier doesn't understand what my order is. Other than that, this place is one of my favorite coffee shops that I go to. Keep up the good work! ❤“
