“Your employee Isaac treated us very respectful and made me the best Dublin sandwich I have ever had. Originally I was planing on pretending to slip near your bathroom because the floor was wet and sue you. But then Isaac made me a bomb sandwich and I decided I would not“

“Best place to sit in town and enjoy coffee and pastries. Beautiful ambience and friendly staff. Love going here!!“
“I came the other night to check out a show there, and had a Dirty Chai and a Muffin. The Dirty Chai was the best I've had in New Haven so far. It's a nice place, but I wouldn't say it's an easy place to see a show. It's a very narrow space and it crowded badly enough that I got uncomfortable after the 2nd set and left, but if I came back for a show I know to come early.. the regulars pack the place out!“

“This is my 1st time coming here and it won't be the last. The bagels are extra fresh and the staff are amazing. I was greeted with a smile and awesome conversation. The only thing is that it's small and not much room to move around. But I still love this place.“

“I want to move to a place closer to this shop. The language sections are not bad. So much selection. Super friendly people working here too. After a very long drive up from the state of floriDUH, it was so nice to be treated with so much kindness. I once heard a person from university tell me that I should've been a film major, kinda randomly TBH, and it had been on my mind for years now. I'm basically too afraid to go to the local venue where there are books and films because all my exes live in Texas. Would be super amazing to learn more about the perspectives of folks near Yale and other brain trust institutions of the NE USA. I'm kinda dulled and tired about and by all of the Spanish and Latino references around where I currently reside. Our public libraries are very dull in regards to languages - soooooo much in English and Spanish but then very VERY little in much of anything else. Any other languages and perspectives, I meant. Seriously, thanks for being so kind and welcoming to me! In floriDUH, it's about a 0.00012485% chance of anyone here being helpful on any given day. Hopefully, the autumn and winter months are going well for all of you there :) Cannot wait to be able to return one day.
The four stars is because of the paint color which weirdly is a weird color for paint.“

“I ordered the egg Benedict and was disappointed. The hollandaise sauce was not very good and the biscuit was soggy. The home fries were not flavorful either. I had to add a lot of salt, pepper and hot sauce to give any flavor to the dish. Finally , the dish was served on a plastics plate with plastic utensils.“
“Depending on time of day, there can be ample seating or none.
Their signature latte is amazing.
Prices can add up quick, especially if you enjoy the pastries and bites, but the flavor is very good. Paid parking street side surrounds the cafe.“

“Was in the area and I heard about this place so wanted to give it a try. I tried the Ube Latte never had Ube so wanted to see what it tasted like, I don’t know if I’m a fan of it I should have gotten the cookie butter but it was ok. We always got the tuna melt and the steak and cheese which were good.“

“Mom and pop vibes with a European flare. Everything I’ve had is top quality ingredients and flavors and reasonable priced and delicious. Veggie quiche, lattes, killer rich hot chocolate less sweet qnd thick! (And gelato!) Large space to meet friends and chill vibes to study. Reminds me of the no nonsense atmosphere of many European cafes counters who focus on food not fancy walls of fake grass with neon signs saying ”live love laugh” the owners are lovely and authentic.
In a fair world all the kids obsessed with image and wasting $$$ on terrible products at MOTW or Arwas just to take pictures of the decor or carry the ”right” cup with the ”right” logo to class would find this large quiet space with exceptional products and no branding on their cups and support them instead. Alas I think a place with stellar product competing against social contagion is the challenge of our times.“
“OMG, a friend brought me here & if u r a Coffee lovers try it! U must b exact when ordering your coffee drink- more than Starbucks but we'll worth it. Also if using cash in drive thru tell the staff person asap. I made that mistake & it took longer to pay, but w/ a new place I get a little cautious but no need here. My friend goes daily ; never 1 issue. Coffee lovers dream spot!“

“Very enjoyable outside setting at Belle Vie! Just lovely. From the friendly staff whom immediacy greeted us upon arrival to tbe owner who made a special trip outdoors after personally cooking our crepes in the kitchen. We tried their chicken pesto crepe w/ tomato and spinach- absolutely delicious ! And also the salmon, cream cheese, tomato, caper, red onion crepe. Yum! We also sampled their lattes both hot and cold brew and a marvelous bacon cheddar biscuit warmed up and buttered ! They have sweet crepes as well and many non- crepe options. This Cafe will not disappoint! A beautiful menu with many selections of fresh, health conscious choices as well as some slightly more indulgent pasterie options! ( and a few more diet aware pastries as well! ) Belle Vie Cafe has everything you need! … And with a great vibe , too!!! Give it a go. You’ll be back! ) Don't forget to take a stroll along the Guilford Green just a block away offering weekend events and other shops and eateries to check out ! Very picturesque. )“

“Love love love this place. I have spent so many hours hanging out here. In the morning it’s so fun to come sit on the couch and read a book — the coffee is delicious! And the coffee menu is really cool and fun. Any latte here is a win. And Hanna is the most incredible and friendliest barista!! It’s also a really fun vibe in the afternoon to come for a beer and hangs. They have vegetarian options for food usually and a great food truck outside. I am all about aesthetic and this place crosses all the t’s and dots all the i’s. My new go-to spot!!“

“Tucked in the back of the beautiful Graduate Hotel, Poindexter Coffee has become my go-to spot. The lobby’s cool furniture and big communal tables make it feel stylish but relaxed, and the space itself is great, high ceilings, tons of natural light, and plenty of room to spread out. The coffee is consistent. The staff is genuinely kind, especially to pets; my dog is always welcomed with smiles and a treat. Between the pet-friendly vibe (hotel included), friendly service, and comfortable setup, it’s the perfect place to post up with a latte and stay awhile. Highly recommend.“

“I work close by so I am at Cilantro several times a week... and as a self-proclaimed "foodie" I highly recommend this local hot spot for delicious coffee, super tasty chicken salad, raspberry/almond scones, "yoga" cookies, matcha cookies & their peanut butter/ coconut bites! I also frequently get their matcha or golden milk lattes, both are masterfully made & delicious either hot or cold!! I usually see Helen, but everyone there is also as friendly as she is and on-point with my order. Their in-store grocery treats and savory goodies are a delightful hand-picked selection that reminds regulars & travelers why they're a favorite local business & one to support and visit often!!“

“I just went to DD and I dropped my phone in the driver drive-through and there was a Spanish kid in the drive-through that picked up my phone off the ground and he was so helpful. I didn’t catch his name. However, I tried to call Duncan to talk to a supervisor to let them know that the kid in the drive-through was wonderful and his customer service was awesome, however the person that picked up the phone doesn’t speak any English and it was very rude. It was some lady and I don’t know her name but she was very rude. Other than that the dunkin is OK.“

“In a red brick building on what feels like every New England main street ever written about, Ground Up Coffee has carved out the kind of space that makes you almost forget you're in a shared cafeteria complex rather than some Brooklyn-wannabe independent joint. And that's not a bad thing.
The industrial-chic interior, with its exposed ductwork and concrete floors, could easily have felt like another soulless attempt at urban cool. But there's something genuine here, maybe it's the way the snow piles up against those massive windows, or how the baristas actually seem to care about the golden-brown croissants arranged meticulously behind spotless glass.
Their menu hits all the contemporary coffee shop greatest hits, your matcha lattes (mine was decent, if a bit timid), your nitro cold brews, your fancy flavor shots that thankfully don't taste like liquid candy. The prices won't make you wince, which is refreshing in an era where a cup of coffee can cost more than lunch.
Let's talk about the elephant in the room, that missing health inspection rating. Look, I'm not saying they're hiding anything sinister. The place is cleaner than many professional kitchens, but in this business, you post that shit proudly. It's like showing up to a job interview without pants, technically you might be qualified, but people are going to have questions.
The space flows into a larger shared area, which could be a mess but somehow works, like a good jazz ensemble playing off each other's rhythms. The pastry case suggests someone in charge actually cares about food beyond the obligatory sad muffin offering, and the whole operation runs with a quiet efficiency that's becoming rare in the age of Instagram-first cafes.
Is it perfect? No. The winter draft from those picture windows could probably use some attention, and seriously, let's get that health rating up where we can see it. But these are quibbles in what's otherwise a solid operation.
Four stars out of five. It's not going to revolutionize coffee culture, but it doesn't need to. Ground Up knows what it is: a pretty well-run coffee shop that respects its customers enough to do the basics right while adding just enough flair to keep things interesting. In a world of over-hyped coffee experiences, sometimes that's exactly what you need.
Just remember to wear a sweater if you're sitting by the windows in January. And maybe ask about the health rating, if only to watch them do that little dance that every manager does when caught without their paperwork in order. Trust me, it's more entertaining than whatever latte art they're serving up.“
