“📅 August 23, 2025 WRITTEN REVIEW Big Al’s Reel Reviews - Ep. 153 Filomena’s On Main Street Town of Manchester, CT 🌆 Atmosphere & Vibe We walked into a great atmosphere - families around, a warm and friendly vibe, and a beautiful interior. The crowd was very diverse, which added to the positive energy and sense of community in the room. Inside, it looks amazing, making it a comfortable and enjoyable place to settle in for dinner. Overall, the atmosphere here was top-notch. 👥 Service Our server was Joel, and he set the tone right away. He was very nice, attentive, and friendly, checking in often and making sure we had everything we needed. The whole staff gave off that same positive, welcoming energy. 🍽️ What I Ordered 1️⃣ Buffalo Wings- Hot (10 pcs) - $16 👍🏾 👉🏾 Amazing, top-notch chicken wings. Cooked just right and full of flavor. 2️⃣ Buffalo Wings- House Blend (10 pcs)- $16 👍🏾 👉🏾 Same deal - perfectly done, flavorful, and backed up by a delicious blue cheese dressing. 3️⃣ Calamari (Appetizer) - $16 👍🏾 👉🏾 Crispy, fresh, and cooked to perfection. Absolutely amazing. 4️⃣ Hot Honey Chicken Deluxe Sandwich (with fries) - $18 👍🏾 👉🏾 Solid sandwich. Chicken was juicy, hot honey brought the right kick, and the fries were on point. A very good plate. 5️⃣ Chicken Parmesan - $23 👍🏾 👉🏾 Delicious and well executed. The chicken was tender and soft - I could cut it easily with my fork. The sauce was flavorful, the mozzarella melted perfectly, and the whole dish came together beautifully. A great chicken parm that earns a strong thumbs up. 📝 Final Take Filomena’s on Main Street in Manchester absolutely delivered. From the welcoming and diverse atmosphere to the friendly service from Joel, everything lined up for a great night. The wings and calamari were excellent, the sandwich solid, and the chicken parmesan was a standout. “One night, no one in the house felt like making dinner, so we decided to treat ourselves to a couple of pizzas from Frank Pepe Pizzeria in Manchester. We ordered one with all the regular toppings, one original tomato pizza with cheese and a clam pizza. This was the best idea we had in a long time. All 3 pizzas were outstanding. My only complaint, and it is a minor one, was that the crust was not as thin as it is in New Haven (the original location). That is me being a little picky. Otherwise, no body make a better pizza!“

“We had the Taco Pizza and one of the "12 Grinders delivered last night with some chicken wings. The Pizza was amazing, the Grinder was surprisingly HUGE and absolutely delicious. Huge chunks of chicken, lots of cheese, good flavor!! The chicken wings were disappointing but still would 100% recommend. Thanks for a delicious dinner 😁“

“Typical bar/restaurant with rustic decor and limited seating. Pizzas are typical New Haven style. The specialty pizzas are unique and tasty. We ordered 3 large, with two of them half-n-half. The waitress made a mistake on one. So, although we agreed to eat it rather than wait for the correct one, it wasn't what we wanted. Not saying it wasn't good, just not what we wanted. No harm, no foul.“

“While I can't speak to the in restaurant experience, I ordered takeout from here for the first time and I will certainly be ordering again. The chicken and sausage carbonara is so tasty, and the portion size could feed three people. The wings were fried well, and I'm looking forward to trying other flavors. Overall, it's giving the perfect neighborhood takeout spot that will likely be my go to moving forward.“

“These kids do a super job! The pizza was prepared & cooked perfectly, & it was delicious! It was on time & ready to pickup. In regards to the bad reviews I see here, honestly people, get over yourselves. Just because your breadsticks were cold or you happened to get a young counter person who is training & messed up your order, it surely isn't the end of the world. Also, if you're that scared about germs, & covid, please do the world a favor & stay home, nobody needs your hysterical, negative vibes. This location makes great pizza & I would go back for more.“

“We had such a wonderful experience at Joey’s Garlic! The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the penne a la vodka, shrimp scampi, and fried calamari, and every dish was full of flavor. The portions were huge—definitely family-style! Honestly, one plate would have been enough for both of us, and we still had plenty of leftovers to enjoy at home. The restaurant itself has a beautiful setting with an industrial hipster vibe, warm lighting, and a fun flare that makes the atmosphere really inviting. Service was excellent—our server was both fast and friendly, which made the evening even better. For the quality and size of the portions, the pricing was amazing and very affordable. We truly felt like we got more than our money’s worth. We’re already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu next time!“

“I do like the food I've gotten, but I can't eat pizza or calzones so i have no idea what quality it is. My roommate likes the pizza. I've had their grinders and fries most often. I've loved it every time. We've also gotten wraps, which were usually very good, except once I ran into an issue that may have been my doing. On top of the delivery time, I had something come up and couldn't eat it immediately. The wrap itself was likely heated but in doing so it gets stiff once it cools down, and it started to get hard in spots. I'm not sure if it's my fault for letting it sit, and I don't recall if I asked for it warm, which would make it entirely my fault if I did. As a result of the wrap getting hard, it fell apart while I was eating, and dressing got messy, so I just deconstructed it and ate it on a plate. Food was still very yummy, and we've had that exact item many times before with no issue. For the price, I'd definitely say this is worth it.“
