“I ordered the bandeja paisa. The food was fairly good. My only issue was the steak was a bit too rough. Other than that you get a plentiful amount for the price you pay. Economical prices for their dishes. Definitely would return and try it again.“
“We came for the tapas and did not leave dissatisfied!! Soup to nuts this hidden gem has it all! Authentic taste blended in with all the vacation feels! I forgot I was still in CT! From the moment we started with a white white Sangria and Pina mojito we were far far away. The salmon tar tar, chorizo, and pork Arepas blew our minds. Ask for the off menu street corn dip and plantain chips and you'll never want to leave. We will be back for sure and if anyone ever asks just say 'Ola'!“
“I never heared about this restaurant. We didn’t have a reservation. In my opinion this restaurant is amazing , food is great , service good , drinks good. We had Passion fruit caphirina , shrimp ceviche , angus burguer , chicken and cheese empanada. Delicious. I love the decor and atmosphere , live music , and the bar looks pretty nice. I think was a little be busy at that time but not bad at all , was Thursday I was surprise. maybe I didn’t like where we were sit or how they set the tables but was not bad at all. Yes I recommend. I had a good time there.“
“I have been an avid fan of Vivas for thr last 30yrs. I started going there in college, and I fell in love w the food, the owners, and the ambience. Kathy and Bruce sold the place, and I hadn't gone to check it out until this passed week... still amazing! The new owner commands the helm and demands perfection; he is ready to please. My wife had a fantastic monitor, fresh and delicious ?. We shared churros and I took some empanadas home; both were spot on. The crowd was fun, the place filled... soccer adorned the screens, and pleasant music filled our ears. Nothing has changed with the decor,, and that's a good thing; if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Vivas is a must do if you are in New Haven, CT and looking for a cool place to eat and socialize. 5 stars ?“
“This is an amazing restaurant! I had the Sammy Salmon and the food was amazing. Super fresh and seasoned to perfection. The kids meals are also a great portion for kids, my daughter is 8 and wasn’t able to finish her plate. For dessert we had the Tres Leches Cake and it did not disappoint, super moist and just the right amount of sweetness. Definitely recommend for the entire family!“
“I enjoyed everything from the atmosphere to the food to the service. No complaints, I know I have my preferences but thats me the beef and cheese empanadas were stuffed and delicious and I have their popular steak dish with the beef stew and the beef fell apart so easily.Kid-friendliness: Definitely family friendly“
“Local neighborhood fav for me. Always have room. Good menu selections and a chill vibe. Menu supports local based ingredients and is organic based. I had the machego and Fig panini and strawberry and banana smoothie. Don't forget the pastries/desserts on your way out.Vegetarian options: Hummus, Machego & Fig PaniniDietary restrictions: Veggie stuffed guten free corn patty arepas. They use apple juice instead of milk in their smoothies.Parking: There is a small lot and street parking on West Rock near the park. Can also park in Westville Center paid lot and walk down. On a bus route.“
“Came here for some drinks which were excellent! Happened to be happy hour so that was also a bonus. Ambiance of the whole place is super chill and cozy and not too loud for how busy it was which was great, didn't have to tell for the person sitting next to me to hear me. Didn't order any food but I watched a bunch of food come out and it looked amazing so I will definitely be back!“
“A M A Z I N G!!! The food is absolutely delicious. My husband and I were down this was running errands. I decided to look on yelp and see what's good and what would peak my interest. I love a good empanada. Very small quaint place. No inside seating but on a nice day there was a couple tables outside. I ordered white rice and beans for my husband, who is super finicky. I ordered one shrimp and one chicken empanada, pernil on a roll and mango cheesecake. Delicious! My husband said it's the best rice and beans he's had in a long time. Empanadas full of flavor. I actually don't really love pernil because people cook it so dry. This pernil was so flavorful, moist and juicy. Delicious. The mango cheesecake was just the right sweetness. The sandwich I gave half to my husband so I'd have room for the cheesecake. The owner was so friendly and helpful. Food took about 7 minutes to prepare. If you're in the 5 highly recommend trying it out.“
“Great vibe and environment. Off street parking, indoors or out doirs eatting. They host special occasion parties they were catering an event when we got there . The set up was beautiful. Posting video n planners info. I highly recomend fit Date night, just sit eat and drink, fir relaxation. Great place to have a party. The food is delicious. There is a bar you can also eat at the bar. I recommend try everything on the menue its all great eatting . What ever you choose you wont go wrong.“
“The atmosphere is intimate, the empanada's are so amazing, with a very creative variety!! It is clear that this is a labor of love, and your palette will benefit in a big way. I also, happen to catch a couple of event nights there that were really enjoyable. One, displayed a artists paintings, and the other was an open mic night, anyone was welcome. That was most enjoyable.. Put this on your "must" list!!“
“Good spot if your in the mood for latin cuisine. Service always good. Can be tough to find parking close by, but that's New Haven. Highly recommend the Pina crema along with the chipotle if you like the sweet and spicy combo. Also the pickeled onions is a MUST!“
“10/10 dining experience always. Try the mofongo and shrimp or lomo saltado and get passion fruit juice or coconut milk in the side ?Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs and our kids love the Pernil sandwich, coconut milk, and the extremely accommodating staff.“
“This is my first time trying Columbian food and I am hooked!!!!! The AL Pastor Columbian style Arepas is by far one of the most delicious things I have had in a long time. The cornbread base was sweet without being cloying and mixed with the pork and pineapple, OH MY GOD! My dish came with a side of some of the most flavorful rice I have ever had and it was topped with some sweet plantains. The serving is more than generous. I'm a big girl and I am easily getting 2 meals out of my order. The prices are very reasonable! Do yourself a favor and find this hidden gem while you are in town. You will not be disappointed!“
“If I could, I'd give this 3.5 stars. The Service was ok, but nothing special. The prices are not cheap, we paid $94 for 2lbs of blood sausage, 8 potatoes balls, 1 mofongo and one plate of dine in food, but it's not as pricey as other places either.Parking is tight as it is a busy place, though it's high turnover. The place is pretty clean and open spaced. The food is nothing particularly special, but it is mostly made fresh for you which I really appreciated.Overall, I would recommend it and will come back back here in the future at some point.Next time I will stick to the Morcilla, Bolitas de papa and maybe some mofongoVegetarian options: I wouldn't come to a puerto rican joint for vegeterian fare.Parking: There's isn't much but you can find it. May have to waitWheelchair accessibility: It's all one level off the street, so yeah I guess so.“
“I must have driven by this place a thousand times over the years and never thought about going in. A friend of mine suggested it and I loved it!! Small. quaint, food was so delicious and service was awesome!! I can’t wait to go back!!!“
“This was my first time ever having latin cuisine. THIS IS SOME OF THE BEST FOOD IVE EVER EVER HAD!! It was perfect!!The drinks were next to none! The service was fast and soooo polite (even during a crowd). There is such a warm and inviting atmosphere in this place! I am a lifetime customer! I will be stopping here every time in I’m the area!“
“Visiting home and stopped by Caliente Deli on a whim! I'm from New Haven and didn't know this spot existed. My next visit will be intentional! Food was awesome and flavorful!! Pork chunks, stewed chicken, rice &beans, plaintains.... wonderful! Customer service made food even better! A must visit spot when I come back home.“
“We had my sister's 30th birthday here. Gustavo the owner let me do a little setup with cake and balloons....he even played the happy birthday song twice.....when she came into the restaurant and when we cut her cake. He was super accommodating and a pleasure to work with. The food was so fresh and tasty! We ordered a seafood Jalea. It was so fresh and crispy! My dad even joked if they had just gotten the fish from the sea? Best fresh seafood dish I've had. We ordered a variety of dishes for a party of ten and everything was delicious. The restaurant was spacious enough that when my kids got a little bored they enjoyed sitting and playing by the nice couches they have. I even had one of my girls fall asleep and the coaches were so convenient! I definitely enjoyed myself here. Had like a nice club setting vibe.....great music and lighting but not so loud, I was still able to have conversation with my family visiting from NY. Usually, I'm very nervous about other guests with 4 little ones....but we all truly enjoyed being at Chifrijos! Great atmosphere ? Sorry we did not take pictures of food because we were truly enjoying it...we were starving and we went straight for the food....no time for pictures ?“
“One of Milford's best downtown restaurants. Many tapas and entrees to choose from and don't forget to pay attention to the nightly specials, they are remarkable. Sometimes I go there just for a glass of wine and David's au gratin potatoes- to die for! The outside eating area makes you feel like you are in Barcelona, Portugal or the south of France. Staff is very accommodating, Juan and Meaghan are our favorites!“
