“The staff is incredibly friendly, upbeat, and helpful. Above all, the bagels and shmears are nonpareil!!! The best anywhere. I’m sad that I don’t live in New Haven anymore.Vegetarian options: I think the majority of spreads are vegetarian“
“Obsessed with this adorable spot in downtown Shelton! I talked to the owner who was so nice, and they’re super dog friendly so seeing all of the pups really brightened my day. It’s one of those spots where almost everyone is a regular and they all know each other, so it felt very community oriented! My fiancé and I grabbed a sunny table near the window and had such a delicious breakfast of avocado toast and the George’s sandwich with our coffees. I really liked the iced pumpkin one I had! I will definitely be keeping this spot in mind for future trips to downtown Shelton!“
“Great decor, friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. I got the churro latte and my husband got the banana nut bread latte. Both of our coffees were good and they had a lot of different options for flavors. They had ample seating and outlets available for working.Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.“
“Stopped for breakfast. Real good service. Food came out quick and perfectly cooked. Steak hash, potatoes were soft yet firm, perfect. Steak was tender and flavorful ,eggs over easy cooked perfectly. Even the rye toast was toasted and crispy but no where near over toasted Amazing local breakfast, great prices ! Absolutely Recommend !!“
“Went for my first time and the breakfast was excellent. The prices were great too! Customer service was fantastic too. I was never rushed and the lady was super nice! This will be my go to spot for a breakfast sand which and coffee moving forward!“
“Drinks: 5/5Services: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5Pricing: a little pricey Overall: 5/5 Found this hidden gem in the middle of west haven CT. My friends and I were blown away by the overwhelming amount of flavors they offer for their shakes. It was an experience for us when we visited. We ordered Jamocha and Christmas Crack shakes that came we teas as complimentary. Don't let the overwhelming flavors deter you from trying out the drinks because they were very delicious. I love the fact that they are not too sweet and overly chocolate-y. They also use healthy ingredients to help you increase your vitamins/supplements intake (not for medical purposes). The service was excellent as well. 10/10 recommended!“
“Cute little joint for a quick brew. There is technically seating but it's tiny- think garden shed- so I'd recommend you grab and go. Nice waitstaff, especially the older gentleman. Would try the middle eastern pastries, as they seem to be locally made fresh, while the baked goods are more standard.“
“My wife and I took a private pottery throwing lesson with Emily. She inspired us to take a six week lesson followed by another six week lesson. We then became members. We love it there. What a wonderful pottery community! Thank you Jess!Side note: the paint-your-own is super popular there, as well as glass fusing, candles, and mosaics. It’s a great place to get together and drink some wine and be creative or bring the kids for a party!“
“Just popped over to the cafe to grab a bite after reading reviews and was NOT disappointed! Tom was at the register and simply a pleasure to talk to. He recommended one of their egg sandwiches which was delicious (this means a lot coming from someone who isn’t a huge egg fan!); toasted with garlic salt, real white cheddar, a fried egg, and bacon- yum! Also grabbed a dirty chai and some fruit/walnut biscotti. Truth be told I’m having a hard time picking a favorite; the atmosphere and friendliness combined with the dynamite food will definitely make Cedarhurst my go to spot for traveling here in the future!“
“We drove 80 miles to see a concert, and were so happy to sneak into Crepes Choupette moments before closing time. The gentleman working solo welcomed us in and basically gave us personal chef service. As he masterfully crafted our meals, he sang along (perhaps subliminally) to the beautiful French music that seemed to inspire his culinary creations! He was charming, and emulated a love for his job that flowed out as love for his customers. We doubled his tip without batting an eye, and were actually surprised to find out he wasn’t the owner! We loved the Choupette, the Norvegienne, the Piaf, and whatever the other one we had was… all amazing!“
“Really cool spot to relax, bring your laptop, meet with friends. Nice overall vibe. You can rent movies here. They also have snacks, coffee, teas, smoothies, pastries, yogurt to purchase as well. Sometimes their teas don't present as much flavor as I would've expected but they do seem to have various healthy options.“
“My first experience at Funcles Cafe is probably all I need to know this place is great. My fiance got the steak and cheese sandwich and I got myself the Chicken and waffles. Both options were exceptionally delicious. The waffles come with plenty of maple butter syrup which is great for someone like me who needs plenty to be satisfied, as well as having plenty of chicken included. The steak sandwich had the perfect blend of ingredients which all came together to make a great lunch sandwich. Both options were also priced very reasonably and I noticed that every other option was priced just as well. Can't wait to come back and try the other dishes! The inside had somewhat limited seating space but also had quick to-go services for those not looking to sit down and eat.“
“This was my very first time in this one particular and I was very much impressed with its cleanliness, elegance, and a majority of the presentation of their baked goods. 4 out of 5!!!! I’m terribly sorry that you lost a star but that matcha brownie tasted absolutely disgusting. Never again will I buy it!!! Sorry sweetheart but it’s lacking sugar. However I do love the sweet cream filled bread you sold me. Thank you very much for helping me figure out what I want for breakfast tomorrow. Lastly, the cream green tea cake was absolutely divine. All this from being served by an incredibly gorgeous and really cashier/manager who I had to tip handsomely. I’ll definitely stop by on payday to give their specialty caffeinated drinks a try.“
“One of my go to coffee shops - they have a wide menu offering sandwiches, wraps, pancakes and varying specials every week.Their breakfast quesadilla is my go to, which comes loaded with eggs, cheese, home fries, sausage and bacon, peppers and onions. Their pancakes are also light and fluffy. Breakfast sandwiches are delicious. Their portions are very generous and the service is great. If you don’t feel like dining in they also have a drive through.“
“I come here from time to time. If you like pretty unique treats, I recommend trying their big and fluffy specialty 'Crazy Donuts' with generous toppings. I always choose a cannoli donut and whatever looks new and pretty to me. I don't think it's worth it, if you're only looking for ordinary 'daily donuts', because that would be more affordable elsewhere. This is always a hit with the kids. Next time you're in charge of bringing donuts to work, spice it up with Donut Crazy.“
“Local neighborhood fav for me. Always have room. Good menu selections and a chill vibe. Menu supports local based ingredients and is organic based. I had the machego and Fig panini and strawberry and banana smoothie. Don't forget the pastries/desserts on your way out.Vegetarian options: Hummus, Machego & Fig PaniniDietary restrictions: Veggie stuffed guten free corn patty arepas. They use apple juice instead of milk in their smoothies.Parking: There is a small lot and street parking on West Rock near the park. Can also park in Westville Center paid lot and walk down. On a bus route.“
“What a lovely story of the beginning of a sweet little spot! The baguettes are absolutely perfect! The SCONES are a real treat! Coffee is flavorful and steamed milk with every cup! Hard to choose, although the grilled veg on focaccia and tropical salad are my go to. I once had a Tuna Nicoise Baguette it's still one of my all time favorite sandwiches! Of course the Service is excellent!“
“Stopped in while waiting for my car to be repaired and was warmly welcomed by a young woman behind the counter, she was very informative and made plenty of suggestions for me. The place has a very pleasant environment and the drinks are amazing. I'd highly recommend this place.“
“Quality of coffee: 4 - good espresso drinks. I've tried them a couple dozen times and they have become more consistent this past year or so. There are flavoring options like hazelnut etc. Coffee (black) is slightly above average. Atmosphere: 4.5 - great seating areas and nooks in a historic hotel. Usually, students are studying at the various tables. Location: 5 - heart of downtown within walking distance to hundreds of restaurants and great bus/train service. Service: 5 - helpful staffValue: 4 - decent pricing Average: 4.5I can't recommend food options, as I've only had coffee here.“
“Pretty comfy coffee shop feel... Good cold brew. You clear your own plate but staff is friendly enough. The inside has a bit of a cramped layout but a great downtown homey feel to it.Parking: Parking mostly across street at train station or farther down on the street“
“Pistachio is a hidden gem! Everything from the eclectic decor, the heartwarming lattes, and the attentive service it quite simply is the best! Thank you to our server Bella who made our experience top notch! Look forward to future visits and more desserts!“
“This place is so cute and clean, I love the atmosphere and the creative coffees they offer. The espresso is rich and creamy, and the brand of syrup they use is top-tier! Highly recommend.Dietary restrictions: Non-dairy milk alternatives available“
“Very warm and welcoming vibe. The barista greeted us as we walked in and was very friendly throughout the entire experience. We ordered a "Bistro ham" sandwhich and Turkey and Avocado sandwich along with a lemonade and a chai latte. The sandwiches were incredible and while we waited, we were able to check out the "little free library" set up in the store window. Very reasonable pricing and very filling food! Overall great experience and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a cozy place to get some work done and grab a good lunch while you're at it!“
“I can't believe I had to come all the way to New Haven to get good Puerto Rican food.I got a recommendation to try this place out. I'm glad I did. It has a complete PR feel. The owner greeted me as I came through the door. Everything looked amazing. I just hope it tastes as it looks. There are so many choices. Everything is fresh and made to order, pretty much. I ordered the rice and beans and Carne Frita. This place just happened, he told me. He had been coming here since he was a young man. They left the island and ended up here for good. He decided to open up a restaurant with his wife. This place is authentic. The meals are mix and match. Anyway you want them. People came in asking for different combinations, and there was never an issue. You want beans on the rice and gandules? OK. Whatever you want, they will try and serve. The prices are awesome for the amount of food they give you.For dessert, I got a quesito. It brought me right back to the islands. The whole meal was excellent. The service is outstanding. The whole place gives you a feel of the islands. Everybody who came in while I was there seemed excited to order and eat. I loved it so much that I came back the next morning for coffee and a pastry.I recommend.“
“First timers. My wife and I like to visit different local coffee shops on Sundays. Very cute, clean place. I had an iced mocha latte and wife had hot mocha latte. Coffee flavor was very good. For a fairly new start up, I was very impressed, my only constructive criticism would be to offer more extras in the form of syrups to add to coffees. And I think adding frappes to the menu would definitely bring in a lot more customers during warm weather. I have a personal favorite of frappe that I helped another coffee shop(Cheshire) create and everyone that has gone there, or that I have made at home, call it their “crack” of all coffees(frappes). I will certainly be returning to Ground Up Coffee and with hopes of seeing one of the owners and I can share my favorite and additional extras which I feel would bring in a whole other group of customers. A very good and friendly place.“
“Nice coffee + food, fun atmosphere and nice staff. I really, really enjoy their pour-overs. Recently, I was feeling a little festive and found their pumpkin spice latte surprisingly delicious as well - very cohesive and flavorful, and not overly sweet.“
“This is one of the best DDs ! The service is always good, the crew is very friendly and polite and they work well together, including when there's people out the door. They keep it moving, I will go out of my way just to buy my everything bagel from these folks..“
“Love love love this place. I have spent so many hours hanging out here. In the morning it’s so fun to come sit on the couch and read a book — the coffee is delicious! And the coffee menu is really cool and fun. Any latte here is a win. And Hanna is the most incredible and friendliest barista!! It’s also a really fun vibe in the afternoon to come for a beer and hangs. They have vegetarian options for food usually and a great food truck outside. I am all about aesthetic and this place crosses all the t’s and dots all the i’s. My new go-to spot!!“
“Love this place. ❤️ Everyone there is like family and always so kind and nice. The Barista there MacKenzie makes the best drinks. My favorite drink is Chai tea latte with a cheese pastry. Love telling my coworkers about Kaiyden's coffee.“
“What a beautiful quaint spot. Very elegant and lovely. You enter to either be seated or order at the register. I ate in and service was great. I had the Caprese panini and added chicken. It came with the fries. The food was great. The vegetables were a surprise. It was pickled and really good. I had Harvest Green Smoothie made with almond milk. LOVED IT! This place I highly recommend.“
“Truly the best coffee in New Haven. Great pour over selections and the most talented baristas I have seen on the espresso side. Great spot to spend an afternoon with friends or alone, good place to work. They now serve wine at night Thursday to Saturday“
“Came here after a dental Cleaning spot. W/Dr.Dustin Rabine. My go to order was a half a dozen donuts.(Top right to left in photo) Strawberry brownie chocolate,Cookie Monster, cannoli chocolate chip w/ cannoli filling, oatmeal cookie, all chocolate glazed, & glazed donut. My family cut all of them into 4 so we can try more flavors. To me the best one was the cannoli donut. The oatmeal one wasn't good to me. I also ordered a bacon, egg,& cheese on a roll. It was ok. There was not enough bacon & it was out in the middle. I had to spread it out. This is not the 1st time eating food from donut crazy. It's small inside but there's a couple of tables if you really wanted to eat there. I ordered to go b/c I wanted ti share w/ my family. The girl @ the counter was nice & friendly!“
“Matcha tea latte, jasmine green tea, and Nutella latte were perfect! Yummy pastries here as well. A larger space for a city but very crowded with people on laptops doing work and large furniture pieces. I felt my stroller was in everyone's way but also couldn't leave it outside since the sidewalk was smaller than normal due to snow. There is also a step up to enter the cafe. The baby changing table is downstairs in a dark hallway (not inside a restroom). The one working restroom was dim as well but smelt like cleaning products and looked clean which was nice.Kid-friendliness: A little small for strollers but you can always squeeze one in and park it near you. Changing table downstairs is in the dark hallway. Nice chairs and couches for a toddler to sit on but more stress that they'll spill something on it.“
“One thing that stood out to me was how well the staff knew their customers. They greeted many customers by name, which showed a level of familiarity and a sense of community. It was evident that the bakery values building relationships with their patrons. The Frappuccino was delicious. The blend of flavors was just right, and it provided a refreshing and enjoyable treat.“
“This space is so beautiful, warm, and inviting. I spoke with the owner during my first visit and it was lovely to hear her vision for community building. Perfect space for remote workers to grab coffee, a snack, and post up. I can't wait to go back and work.“
“During lunch break from having to serve jury duty I found this coffee shop down the street and decided to pop in. The two behind the counter were very friendly and inviting, and the special grilled cheese with tomato or bacon with soup was PERFECT . the chicken corn chowder came out piping hot and didn't even need any salt or pepper. I'm usually skeptical when someone has to make my coffee instead of me doing it, but unlike dunkin donuts the gentleman made it just right! they seem to have a familiar and friendly customer fan base, and I would definitely go back again.“
“I needed some coffee and desert after visiting the Yale University Art gallery, this was a perfect location and only short walk away. Not a large space, but a fun atmosphere nonetheless. Many students hanging out who seem to be studying indefinitely which made finding an available seat somewhat difficult for new, paying customers. A rather chaotic ordering process, it's unclear where to order/pickup, etc. So, I just jumped in and ordered a couple glazed old fashioned donuts and a cup of coffee. The service was nice and prompt however and I have no complaints there at all. I was in luck to be able to grab a stool by the door along the wall. I'm a life long serial donut dunker.....the coffee was hot and tasty and was perfect for dunking in. If you're in the area and want something sweet check out Donut Crazy. They definitely make a good donut!“
“I've been going here for years and the food is always great. I enjoy their chicken tenders and fries meal when I want lunch and there are a ton of great breakfast options. Depending on the day, it can get pretty crowded here though. It's great on weekdays or off hours on weekends, but during peak brunch time, I would not go here with a large group.Parking: The parking lot is free and a very short walk from Brown Stone House, but during peak hours, you may not find a spot. There are other free parking lots nearby though and the nearby restaurants don't all have the same busy times as Brown Stone House, so that helps.“
“disregard everyone talking about customer service. it’s literally only just a mom and her two kids who run this place. so yeah i’m sure it can get stressful for them at times but in the end the food is always good and they are always polite.“
“It was my first time going to the Coffee Shoppe, I had the veggie omelette which came with a choice of cheese and toast, home fries, and unlimited coffee. The omelette was great, and the home fries weren't bad, they were just slightly over cooked. The other person I was with had the bacon cheeseburger and they said it was perfect, cooked just right and good size. We dined-in, the staff were very friendly and took care of us with no issues. Although, the establishment is on the smaller side, so fitting a larger group might be a problem. But, overall if you're looking for a well made, relatively cheap, quick bite to eat for breakfast or lunch then the Coffee Shoppe is definitely worth trying.“
“These two gentlemen are truly a blessing to the valley , consoling and taking care of every one for years . I don't know what I would do with out them , greatest coffee I've ever had and class acts , take time and treat your self to the greatest coffee on the planet made with love for the same locals ever day . Thank you Mo and AB you guys brighten my day time and time againGet you some coffee people!!“
“Legacy is the best!! I am there everyday to get my protein shake and full mega tea! Marta and Iris are amazing and so welcoming to everyone who steps foot in the door! Every shake and tea are awesome (trust me i’ve tried them all!) Support your local small businesses!“
“Quaint little tea shop and high tea experience. Very enjoyable.Dietary restrictions: Not an overwhelming amount of options for lower carb or whole foods, but the pastries, sandwiches and soups are very well done.Parking: Had to park around the corner near the train station. About a 2hr limit.“
“Crave Healthy is truly the way to go! If you need a beverage to help support a long busy schedule this s your place! The customer service is amazing, the presentation is amazing and best part about it is the owners and workers have a great heart and passion for what they do!! MAKE SURE YOU STOP BY! You truly won’t be disappointed“
“A great addition to the East Rock cafe scene! I love ordering the cafe au lait and a good sandwich while sitting either indoors or out on their patio and people watching in between working on my laptop. A great place to meet friends or clients with plenty of free street parking around. Service is super quick and friendly as well! A go-to for me!“
“Great place to grab a quick bite in the morning & good coffee. When you walk through the door it’s like stepping back into time (in a good way). Fresh donuts, great flavors, good sandwiches, and happy staff. Prices are good. Stop in if you can you won’t regret it.“
“this place is so nostalgic and has amazing vibes. With endless options to chose from depending on your cravings that day this place is a must try. I ordered the double cheeseburger combo as is. It was priced very reasonably and you even get the choice of crinkle or handcut fries. I loved the potato bun and the burger was a nice and thin seasoned burger with perfectly melted cheese. would recommend and can’t wait to try other products!“
“Great place to come and get something quick or just come in and relax from a long days of work . Open till 10 pm. Great food and service here always helpful . Plenty of seating area . Drive thru petty fast even in the morning rush . Be coming by always thanks again for staffing and the great service ?? ? ??“
“This place is amazing. The coffee is top notch, the pastries are incredible and the atmosphere is perfect. The triple shot Espresso is the best tasting one I've ever had....so fresh. The prices aren't bad at all...cheaper and BETTER than Starbucks. Customer service is top notch. And the DRIVE-THRU is a HUGE bonus. Most of all...it's a mom and pop establishment and that's all the more reason to give them your business.“
“The only reason why I didn’t give 5 stars has to do with the price. The server that helped me was phenomenal. I had been waiting longer than I could because I had to be somewhere. He personally made my order so I could leave. Very pleasant and great attitude. I wish I had gotten his name. My visit was on 4/15/23 at around 1:30 pm. Woidbridge , CT location. He was a young small built African American with glasses. All that being said….price was such a rip off. The drink consisted of maybe 6oz of coffee,low-fat milk & a shot of flavor. Over $6!!!!!!!Very small cup. Economy is bad right. now. I’m 70 years old still have to work 40 hours a week to support myself. Should offer better prices. Server saved the entire experience. My thanks to him“
