“We were in Wilmington for my son’s lacrosse event and stopped at Scalessa’s, what a find! Aaron gave us amazing service and made us feel right at home. “We were running 1/2 hour late on a Saturday night yet they were still so welcoming. Mary was our server and she was amazing, attentive, kind and not overbearing. Then there was the food....... OMG!! The tomahawk for 2 was amazing. Cooked to perfection( very hard to do based on the size) and covered in what felt like pounds of crabmeat, scallops and shrimp!! The place is a must and I would and will be back for their food over and over!! We loved it!!“

“My husband had surgery yesterday and on the way home from the hospital he said he wanted chicken piccata. We ordered chicken piccata and chicken Marsala for takeout. Both were served over gnocchi. NEVER had such amazing gnocchi! Flavor of the piccata and Marsala—OUTSTANDING!!!!“

“This is our favorite Wilmington restaurant, and the food never disappoints. So delicious! The beef tartare was so interesting with an Asian flare, the squash appetizer was earthy and warm and delightful. The duck was tender, as can be, and the pork shoulder with the coconut, sweet potato was to die for. The apple dessert was great as well.“

“We visited last night. We were greeted right away. The service was so good. I had Shells Aurora. Simply amazing. Pasta and chicken was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend didn't see chicken marsala on the menu. only chicken parmesan.He asked and they made him the chicken marsala. So good too. We ordered wine. I had the Cabernet and he had the Pino Noir .Both wines were rich and savory. Very tasty. The floor manager even came up to make sure we were happy. That was very nice. we received the check and the server boxed up our food for us. The check really was not expensive. I paid and gave a 25% tip. I normally don't care either way with itailian resteraunts but this place was so nice. Rustic and warm atmosphere, pleasant staff, and amazing food. Will visit again for sure.“

“Big shoutout to Giordano’s!! My husband and I had a small courthouse wedding and had about 15 people come to dinner afterwards in one of the private rooms. We were promptly greeted and the manager came in to greet us as well and gave my 2 year old nephew a giant cookie to keep him occupied while we got settled in. All of the staff was very helpful and attentive. They made sure to meet all of our needs and double check that there was no alcohol in one of the entrees sauces and even had it remade to make sure for us. The bartender came over and helped us wrap up our leftover cake so we could save it for our one year anniversary as well. All around a wonderful experience. I haven’t been since before renovations when I worked there and was impressed with all of the updates. It is more modern but still comfortable and the food is absolutely wonderful! As a large group, we ordered quite the variety of entree’s and they were all wonderful! Thank you Gios for a wonderful day my husband and I will never forget!“

“Today, I put in a delivery order via one of those food delivery services. As it turns out, the restaurant gave the wrong order to the delivery service, and couldn't get ahold of the driver.\n\nThey called me right after the driver left to let me know that there was an issue and they were trying to get ahold of him, and then they called again a couple minutes later to say that they couldn't reach him.\n\nThey told me I could keep the incorrect order where it arrived, and also the manager headed over to deliver the correct order herself (arriving just moments after the original driver).\n\nI was very impressed with the customer service, especially considering we had actually ordered via a third party service.\n\nBest pizza around. Fantastic customer service. Definitely 5 stars.“

“We have loved enjoying the delicious food at Cafe Valentina. We have been coming here for more 15 years. We feel like we are dining at one of the finest restaurants in Italy. We were missing Fortuna and Giuseppe for the past six months but finally tonight we had the pleasure to see them at the restaurant. Everyone should come here and enjoy their delicious food. “Tony's is a local Italian restaurant in Newark along Chestnut Hill Road (DE 4) in a shopping plaza anchored by the local Shoprite. The dining area is basic, mostly what you'd expect from a local restaurant. However, the decor could use a little bit of an update and then it'd be just right.
The menu features what you'd expect from an Italian restaurant in the orbit of Philadelphia - pizzas, pastas, strombolis, etc. and have a great variety of different pizzas. For my meal, I went with a vegetarian pizza (spinach, tomato and ricotta cheese) and an order of garlic bread. The pizza itself was pretty tasty and the ricotta made a good contrast to the mozzarella on the pie itself and the vegetables were generally nice and fresh. The crust was also pretty decent as it could hold the slice and had just enough crisp for a good thin-crust pizza. The miss for me was the garlic bread. I don't know if it was the preparation for my particular order, but my bread had some minced garlic topping the butter on the bread rather than well-dispersed in the butter. I love garlic but trying to eat those pieces of minced garlic wasn't for me as it was bitter. I would like to see them better incorporate the garlic into the bread as that might help the read out. The garlic aside, the bread was nicely baked and had the butter and garlic been better spread I would have really enjoyed it.
The service was decent as well. I didn't have to wait too long for a refill and the server made sure I was take care of at my table.
Overall, it's a nice neighborhood Italian restaurant for those local to Newark and you'll at least get an enjoyable meal if you visit here.“

“Update: We have lived here nearly a year and this is still our go-to place. My oldest daughter is now vegan and they custom make her vegan breadsticks. Love these guys! We order from here usually once per week. Their plain pizza is classic. I think they put cinnamon in their crust—there is something special. It’s the only pizza that all of my kids like. Win! Oh, and the guy that answers the phone and does the register is always so nice! Highly recommend!“
