My wife had tears in her eyes, and they said “I’m back home” (she is from Quito). As a full blooded gringo, my taste buds were overwhelmed and I actually slowed down and took it all in. 10/10. And it’s not just the food. It’s the ambiance, and every detail in between. We’re coming back for New Years!“

Can't miss with ropa vieja tender with a little crisp. Finished it off with mango cake. The entire lunch, atmosphere, music and staff exceeded our expectations! Definitely recommend the Miami Beach location. Sit close to the street for additional and unexpected treats.“

“When I first started to go there, the food was a lot better, and the portionsizes were huge. Lately, it's been off. I eat there at least 3-4 times a month, and something has changed. I will continue to patronize because I feel it will make its way back to the standard I know and love.“

“First time at this place; the restaurant was clean, the food was outstanding, and the waiter (Brandon) was very attentive. Then again, there were only two or three other tables seated. Awkward ambiance for the first five+/- minutes because there was no music playing and the TVs were off. Finally, the music came on and the dining experience improved ten-fold. Meanwhile, the TVs were never turned on. Not a big deal, in fact... might even be cool to have a place with no TVs, where people are forced to interact with one another. But I digress, if you choose to have televisions in your establishment, keep them on; there's a lot you can do with them, not just have it on TV programming. Anyways, this place is absolutely fantastic and has the potential to be one of the area's best restaurants. I'll definitely be back!“

“This little gem is in my neighborhood and it’s been at least 16-17 years since I first walked in the door. The food is excellent, it’s a family owned and operated business, you can tell they care and they’re very real people. The mom’s demeanor when dealing with trouble customers reminds me a lot of the tattoo shops I’ve worked in, they are not a chain so they don’t have to suffer stupidity. I don’t think anything there is cooked off site, bread nor pastries. I’ve never had a less than perfect meal there. The daughter, who is only there part time now is charming, welcoming and among the most beautiful people I’ve ever laid eyes on. Oh! The prices. Not bad at all. Not dirt cheap as Cuban food goes, but definitely affordable. Places like this don’t seem to exist much outside of Little Havana, the Caribbean and Central America. This kind of restaurant/diner is part of the reason I fell in love with South Florida.“

“I have been to Casa Borinquen a couple of times. First of all, both times, I started with an Alcapuria. Hands down, they have the best Alcapuria I have ever had. It is nice and crispy on the outside and the inside is super flavorful with the right amount of filling. It is worth going to Casa Borinquen for the Alcapuria, but wait. The monfongo is also awesome. I had it once with "carne frita" and then with "bistec encebollado", both were great. Go to Casa Borinquen, you will love the food and the quaint ambiance of the restaurant, and their friendly staff, and you will keep going back!“

Add grilled chicken with fries, rice and beans or lomo saltado. Yely always serves me well and is always friendly.“
