“I had never been to Pollo Tropical even though they seem to be almost everywhere. I ordered a pork sandwich with a side of sweet plantains and my husband had a chipotle chicken sandwich. The service through the drive thru was quick and efficient. The food wasn’t bad but the sauce and onions described on the menu were both missing from my sandwich. The fact that the sandwich wasn’t dry despite the missing toppings says something (good) about the meat but I am sure that the sandwich would have been better if it was as described. That is a problem with take out- you don’t know that there is an error with the order at a time when it is possible to do anything about it. The plantains were well made and hot and a nice sized portion. My husband liked his sandwich.“

“Michael was very attentive and informative, loved the service he provided. The buffalo chicken sandwich had great flavor. I feel the waffles taste like pancakes the texture is very soft and fluffy. The chicken tender was very light in flavor. Presentation was on point.“

“They give you the whole wing and it's fried right. Desert's be off the chain and oh so good. The couch is always fresh and the wait isn't long and staff treats you like a person and don't let me forget about the slushies in all types of favors.“

“Disclaimer: I am not the audience for ordering food and picking it up from a box without interacting with human beings. I'm not there yet. So although I'd heard of Soulfly, I wasn't particularly interested in visiting. Nevertheless, was celebrating my mom's birthday and the birthday girl wanted to come here after our wine tasting next door.

I'm glad the experience was not as impersonal as I anticipated. Partly because I just didn't feel like sticking to the script but also I couldn't get that doggone pickup situation together. LOL I had so many issues with the code to retrieve my order, it was seriously comical. I did observe others come in, put in the code, get the food and go though.

You do have to order on the kiosk but I was able to ask the manager if I could order it like this or that, which he happily made note of for my particular order. There was a little wait for having ordered onsite - things would have felt quicker had I ordered online from offsite then stopped in to pickup when notified the order was ready. I had the wings and cajun rice. Now what surprised me was that chicken! Ok, Soulfly! Very nicely seasoned, good crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. I was impressed considering my expectations. It reminded me of those good chinese takeout chicken wings. Nice surprise. The cajun rice was just okay for me.

The challenges to me coming back are that the price is just high for what you get. I understand there is a cost for "convenience" so it is what it is. However adding $6.54 to the order when I had to do the work to place it then pick it up is.... I don't and won't mind continuing to do things the old school way to pay a more reasonable price for fried chicken in other nearby neighborhoods. Also, no "convenient" parking. I feel like this spot is more geared towards people strolling on the street or for food delivery drivers who will be on a moped only.

Overall for the chicken and helpfulness of the onsite staff, I give it a 3.5, not just a 3.“

“I love this location being close to home but they really need to figure something out with the parking lady out front harassing guests. This chick fil a is legit the only business open in the building on the whole block yet you can’t park for 5 minutes out front to get food. The garage is $8! The city should rezone the parking in front for 15 minutes Max or something. How are business supposed to survive here. They are losing a lot of business. We left today because the parking lady was harassing us. Meanwhile 6 police cars parked out front getting lunch, a city bus parked in the no parking zone to get lunch, 2 usps trucks parked in a no parking zone to get lunch. Are they special? The street is dead! Let the public people get their lunch.“

“Pollo Tropical offers a solid selection of flavorful, Caribbean-inspired dishes at a good value. One of the highlights for me is their coconut shrimp—crispy, lightly sweet, and well-seasoned. The shrimp are a great size and have a nice crunch without being overly greasy.

I also really enjoy their sweet plantains. They’re soft, caramelized just right, and make for a great side dish. If you like plantains, these won’t disappoint.

I constantly buy the Family Duo, with pork, and it's been approximately 2 months since the container of pork is practically 3/4 full and today it's gone. I bought it again, the container of beans was practically broth, they are reducing the portions a lot, I don't know if it is by order of the manager of the establishment or it is the employees who serve smaller and smaller portions, in addition to not giving out the burnt ripe ones, that is a constant in that branch, I buy it because it gets me out of trouble by not having time to cook, but they already leave a lot to be desired. “The food is good but the people is a different story, I when to purchase a 14 piece meal for my kids and my self. and I was doing a favor for a friend, since I was going for my self, as he asked me to buy for her a 5 piece meal, everything was OK until a lady came to the register ( think it was the manager) I was using a coupon for each of the meals, I explained to her that one was for my home and the other one was for a friend but she kept saying I only can used one, again I explained that it was not for me the small meal why I'm going to get a 5 piece of I already was getting 14 pieces. just make to separate orders, but this small minded woman keep repeating her self that I can't, if my friend was there she still will have to do a second order... So no I will not recommend the location on 54st Northwest between 12th and 11th Avenue. they are rude and unprofessional... The old manager, was a kind an friendly lady. Train your management more than your cashiers... Their title goes over the heads. I'm going to Boston Market... even Popeyes is better...“
