“Java & Jam is a local coffeehouse on Las Olas that also serves all day breakfast. Although I don’t drink coffee, the iced Dubai Chocolate Matcha drink featured outside is really what lured me in. The atmosphere was chill with both inside seating and a covered patio area.

I ordered the Tri Color Quinoa salad along with the iced Dubai Chocolate Matcha. When my drink was brought out, I could not wait to take the first sip. However, I found the matcha flavor to be light and the glass was filled with about 1/3 of ice. Also, my drink was not garnished with the chocolate bar as depicted and when I enquired, I was told by Kelly (our server) that they were out of garnish. Also note that there is an upcharge for alternate milks (oat, coconut & soy).

My salad was brought out promptly (15 mins) and it looked great and tasted even better. This mediterranean inspired combination of lettuce, cucumbers, chick peas and feta cheese dressed with a cilantro and tahini combination was truly delightful. It was fresh and refreshing at the same time.

Overall, Java & Jam is a great niche find on Las Olas, especially if you’re craving breakfast foods after the usual breakfast hours.“

“While traveling and using public transportation, the city bus dropped us off down the road from Candy's Place and the connecting bus was running late. We walked down the street and discovered Candy's Place purely by accident. We originally went inside to have one beer and walk back to the bus stop. Waited at the bus stop again but decided to skip the bus and go back to Candy's Place because it had such a positive impact on us and we didn't want to leave. Candy's Place is so nice and welcoming inside and as soon as we met the owner and customers we knew right away this place is very special. We spent the rest of the day and evening there, met new friends and everybody made us feel so welcome and at home. Maribel, the owner, is an amazing and beautiful soul...she made us feel so welcome and her Platano Fritos are amazing and her Cuban coffee is absolutely the BEST coffee I have ever had. The food did take some time to come out but it looks like they cook to order so a server brought us out a little bit chocolate cake while we waited. The food was fresh! We ordered a few different meals, the Southern breakfast, Eggs your way, French toast and an empanada. The Cuatro leche French toast was AMAZING! Very filling, flavorful, the best dish on the table. The eggs your way were really good, came with toast and bacon. The Southern breakfast was good, the eggs, omg, I couldn’t have eaten them any faster lol, soooo good. The biscuit was nice and warm, the potatoes to die for, the fried chicken had a nice crunch to it and was cooked well, only complaint, it didn’t have much flavor to it, if the batter had seasoning or the chicken itself, it would be great OR if they have a southern gravy to put on top, that would be amazing. The chicken empanada was yummy and filling too. The strawberry lemonade was yummy. We got donuts and a muffin to go. I can’t get enough of this place We really enjoyed coming in and having brunch. Definitely will be back (this was my 2nd time here).“
