“Stopped in to scope out a place to take my native born Japanese mother. VERY GOOD FOOD - the tonkatsu ramen was fresh and not overly-salty as other places tend to serve. The chirashi was delicious. Will definitely return!“

But when I order pick up guess what. They wanted to charge $6 for something they give me free. Used to be a regular and hate to even say something negative but that’s just not right.“

“Absolutely one of the freshest and cleanest restaurants I’ve tried in Jacksonville. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and high quality. The grilled beef skewers were the highlight for me — honestly some of the most tender, fresh, and flavorful beef I’ve ever had. I was told some of their ingredients are flown in from Japan every two days, and you can really taste the quality. Everything was beautifully prepared and the restaurant felt very clean and well cared for. Absolutely amazing. 100% recommend!“

“We had such a great experience at Kobu. The whole night felt special without trying too hard. The food was beautiful, full of flavor, and every dish felt really well thought out.

Anthony took great care of us and made the night even better. The bartender also recommended a sake that paired perfectly with dinner.

The wagyu and mushroom fried rice was probably my favorite dish of the night. So much flavor, and easily some of the best fried rice I’ve had.

We finished with dessert and a cocktail, which was the perfect way to end the evening. Great food, great service, and a really fun atmosphere. Definitely looking forward to coming back.“

“This is our favorite local sushi spot! It is a tad pricier (not much), but we've found it's worth it. We typically get pretty basic rolls (spicy salmon, spicy tuna, rainbow roll) which are always fresh. Portions are large for the hibachi as well!“

“My husband and I dined in at the new location tonight. The decor and atmosphere are beautiful, very pleasant. Our server was very friendly and super attentive. The food was excellent, absolutely delicious. My husband had the chicken and steak hibachi and I had chicken tempura. We both had clear soup and salads. Everything was so tasty, very flavorful!! “This was my favorite restaurant in Jax. But, the waiter decided to add a 20% gratuity to the total. We were only a party of two, and this typically applies to parties of more than 4. Be sure to check your tickets. He did this to everyone at the table. We will not be revisiting anytime soon. Likewise, he only checked our drinks once.“

“We ordered DoorDash. We only received 2 salads and one sushi order. I angrily called them and overreacted a bit for sure. However.... not only did someone from the restaurant deliver the rest of our order, I'm pretty sure they re cooked it all because it was all fresh and delicious.

“I really hate that I have to post a bad review as we love this place but if it will help someone else with serious food allergies then so be it, I explained to the chef that my wife is highly allergic to scallops as someone at the table ordered them, usually no big deal except they brought the food out to cook and the scallops were on the same plate touching the rest of the food, then the chef carried on using the same spatula that he touched the scallops with to touch everything else, steak, shrimp, chicken, vegetables and the butter the scoup from the bucket to season and no one understood what cross contamination is. after a painful affair of trying to explain this to them they say they need to cook my wifes dinner in the kitchen then when it arrives it is subpar to what was cooked at the table, very disappointing needless to say, so just a warning if you go, if someone at the table orders something you are allergic to you are better off either changing tables or going elsewhere as sadly the food cooked separately in the kitchen is not the same as what was cooked at the table, also need to know what you all do with the tub of butter as I'm pretty sure you don't throw it away, do you just send it to the next table? use it again the next day? anyone with shellfish or mollusk allergies need to know it has been cross contaminated as I watched every move the chef made as if I had not we would have had to call rescue, so be extra cautious if you dine here and have such allergies, City of Jacksonville FL can we get a health code violation???“
