I even told him to not spare using the garlic butter, yet he didn't add any additional. No heart shaped rice, no entertainment. The food took forever to be cooked since he was doing everything separately. Thus, by the time he finished everything was cold. When I go back to the Miami Beach restaurant, I will ask for an experienced cook.“

With our anniversary he provided us each with a glass of champagne! He explained the dinner specials and even brought us a taste of one of the appetizers called Fiocchi Rapers – filled pasta with cheese and pear, with crispy prosciutto and creamy truffle sauce. “Miami's Finest I had not dined at Fiola since April '23, when I gave the restaurant a stellar review, describing it as at the top of the podium among Coral Gables' many fine Italian restaurants. Last night's dinner actually surpassed the splendid meal we had a year ago. It was simply the best meal I have had anywhere this year and was easily competitive with two Michelin starred restaurants I visited in Madrid this past November. Every dish was superlative -- the ingredients and the execution were extraordinary. I had the hamachi crudo, the wagyu tenderloin "saltimbocca" with jamon Iberico and an heirloom tomato salad. I also sampled (liberally) the superb veal milanese, the otherworldly fusilloni with pesto sauce and the truffled corn. My three dinner companions were equally ecstatic. The service was excellent, very attentive and mostly unintrusive. As is usual here, there is lots to choose from on the wine list -- but unlike most restaurants that are in this league, there are excellent choices at a wide variety of price points. We had an excellent Rioja Reserva at a very modest price. I've had three very fine meals at LPM in the past couple of months; the food at Fiola last night was as good or even better, the overall experience is much more relaxed and luxurious and the wine program is much more accommodating if one hasn't recently inherited a fortune, or simply balks at paying absurd markups of already expensive wine selections. At this point, Fiola is hardly a secret, but I am delighted to see that it is not resting on its laurels or taking its customers' loyalty for granted. If I had to recommend one place to dine in the Miami area, this would be it.“

Our server, Tomas was a pleasure to work with. Attentive, but not bothersome. He offered suggestions without pressure that we felt at another Italian restaurant nearby. We shared an excellent Caesar salad with anchovies to start. So good! Next, I ordered the Tagliatelle Alla Bolognese, which was heavenly. My husband had Pappardelle Al Ragú Di Agnello, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I didn't get to taste it because I wouldn't share mine. Fair is fair, I suppose. Tomas paired our meal with a wonderful Primitivo Puglia that was perfect. Then he suggested dessert, and although I was stuffed, we shared a cannoli. It was delicious also, but I really didn't need it. The surprise limoncello, on the house, was a perfect ending to a perfect meal! An aside?
