Drinks were great, old fashioned, midnight, Cassandra and the Normans! Then we had steak kabobs, steamed octopus, the burger, shrimp and lemon potatoes. Deserts were manna split, soft serve with sea salt and olive oil, custard pie, sticky croissant with pistachio. Everything was absolutely perfect, and spectacular! Today, we found our new go to spot for Indian on Fruitville and Honoree called Royal Peacock. “We had dinner at Siegfried's Restaurant on Feb. 26th - our third meal there and we always leave with big smiles on our faces. The schnitzel and sauerbraten are both excellent, as are the sides and desserts. The staff is warm and engaging and we were so happy to meet and speak with the chef/owner. The restaurant is in one of the cozy-looking cottages on Fruitville Rd and is the perfect setting for this authentic German restaurant. Be sure you make a reservation and be prepared to enjoy a fantastic German meal!“

“If you truly you want to taste of Cuba brought to your table, then go straight to Belkis, she has such passion for her food and her cooking, she brings the spirit of Cuba and her ancestors with her she oking all over again. She's been gone for quite some time now. But I can tell you my grandmother was born and raised in Cuba and left right before Fidel took control. When I tell you she has the best Cuban food and the best and most authentic, it is 100%. You can't get any better than Belkis! We have a lot of Mexican food here but she's the only true Cuban food, if you want the flavor of Cuba to come home to your dinner table or your lunch time goes to see Belkis on the island, she's right between the car wash and the old hospital, the gas station right there that it's on island itself walk-in make a right. And there she is cooking in her kitchen!(She was able to survive 2020 in the months in between by herself without help! She was open and ready to serve you at a moment's notice!) She was never closed once, and she does a lot to help the community! She is truly a gem in Venice and a staple! She reminds me so much of my Cuban grandmother, from cuba. She has that nothing can knock me down attitude keeps going. But mostly she puts so much love and caring into preparing every meal, when you want real food. That's not an assembly line and only uses the freshest of ingredients! No need to think twice go ahead and go, as a man that stands behind his word! I will gladly put my name behind hers

Vegetarian options: With all the vegetables she uses when she cooks, she can prepare your traditional Cuban food without meat. It's like asking your grandmother or your own mother to cook you a meal . She can customize anything to your liking

Dietary restrictions: She cooks everything from scratch so just ask her, and she will cook you any kind of Cuban food you would like. She will customize any order with no charge

Parking: More than enough parking, it's on the Venice island, and it actually stands on its own little baby Island what the gas station. There is always parking no matter what and very close parking

Kid-friendliness: Not only is a kid-friendly it's family-friendly! When you eat there you are family. Even if you eat there once your family for life

“Wow! What an impressive evening at every level. Do not hesitate and book this restaurant for your next food adventure. The moment you walk into this establishment, you know the vibe is cool and these people know their food & spirits. The food is incredible and different than the typical Sarasota restaurant that has the same boring food offerings. I was impressed with the Iberico pork dish and unusually amazingly flavored vegetables and spices that accented the smoky, tender pork. The yuca side dish was similar to a potato but more flavorful and crispier mixed with an addition of corn, pickled cabbage and other vegetables. I haven't found a dish that impressed me more in recent years. The crispy salmon was a "oh wow" moment for my friend, who hails from the Pacific Northwest as do I, where Washingtonians know a thing or two about salmon. This restaurant provides your palate something different and if you're a veteran of dining out constantly, this is a welcomed change from the ordinary. The New York steak included an amazing demi glaze exploding with flavor and had the perfect consistency which can be a challenge to make right but State Street Eatinghouse + Cocktails got it right. I highly recommend the fried Brussell sprouts appetizer as they were a flavor explosion in our mouths. The bacon amplified the sprouts with the accompaniment of the balsamic glaze. My friend's husband and mine, who usually don't like this vegetable, were pleasantly surprised and ate more than the obligatory "try one" bite. State Street Eating House + Cocktails is owned by the same people that introduced us to tapas restaurant "Beso", which I recently tried, and awarded it my "Best Restaurant in Sarasota" award. This restaurant belongs in the "Restaurant Hall of Fame" of Sarasota or even US restaurants. I love it! My waiter, Dana, was super attentive and impressive. His vast knowledge of the drink and food menu was spot-on and his candor and expertise added to the whole evening's experience. What an amazing restaurant! I can't wait to book my next reservation and I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner. Cheers! Dietary restrictions: I appreciate they were mindful of my cow's milk allergy which makes eating out difficult since most dishes have butter and/or cheese. “I’ve been waiting for an authentic upscale Cuban restaurant in the Sarasota area and it’s finally here! I am Cuban and grew up eating delicious Cuban food. My mother is an excellent cook and has taught me to make many of the traditional dishes. Many restaurants claim to have Cuban food, however, most are a mix of other Carribean dishes. Cuba 1958 is authentic. The croquettes are delicious and so is the shrimp cocktail.. the steak was delicious . The yucca was amazing and so was the congri. This is a restaurant not a cafeteria. The ambience is classy. They have a great assortment of wines and liquors. I was very pleased with the service and attention. I tried to convince the owner to open one in Lakewood Ranch. My husband and I will be returning. It’s worth the drive.“

My SWFL family has been going to the Keys at least once a year for the past 40 years & we've tried countless different key lime pies from Sarasota to Key West in search of the best one. There are some great pies in the Keys, but still none of them top Flo's in Sarasota. Her pies are just next level! We love it so much that we buy a key lime pie from Flo's and take it to the keys every year ? The whole family looks forward to it. Every layer of this pie is so good on its own - the key limey whipped cream, the perfectly sweet/tart filling, & the homemade graham cracker crust - but all together, it's to die for. I would buy barrels of each individual layer if I could, and just die happy in a key lime coma. It really is the best pie in the state, plus there are a ton of other pies & truffles & desserts she offers. I highly recommend checking out Flo's!“
