“I will be dreaming of this place when we go back to the mainland. We came for breakfast and ordered French toast, pancakes, and a breakfast plate. Everything was absolutely incredible. I’m hoping we have a chance to come back and try lunch or dinner. Not only was the food to die for, but the service was awesome. The cook (I didn’t get his name) was one of the friendliest people and he was so awesome and made the experience that much better.Go check out this place as soon as you get a chance!“
“Always like eating here and supporting the Polynesian Cultural Center, and the students. So todays lunch was good, but here are my recommendations to makes it to my liking. After lunch I also gave my thanks and recommendations to the Head Chef Fongu. 1) Yes there's a list. We ordered 4 dishes, after a 15 min wait all but one of them arrived. There seemed to have been confusion with the ticket and there was no Fish for the Fish Tacos. It no one got back to us on it. and we had to order another dish 5 mins after the other dishes were on the table. Btw no discount or a free offer given for this mistake. 2) The Huli Huli chicken is not bbq but oven baked. It was tasty and tender. Nice Ulu mash and fresh steamed vegetables. What ruined the whole dish was the glaze. The glaze was salty and it was poured over everything! Will Oder it next time without the glaze! The Korean Fried Chicken was good. 3) Lastly the dish we had to reorder was a delicious shrimp rice bowl. This was delicious. The shrimps were cooked perfectly and it was tasty. I'd order this dish again for sure!“
“The BEST poke and poke variety on the island.Uncle Ry and his wife are always so loving and caring whenever I come by.My #1 poke reccomendation for friends and family visiting the North Shore.(Pic is of one of my fave from their menu: Pesto Poke)“
“For one, the burgers are delicious. I almost went back for a second one. There's plenty of seating. Go next store to the supermarket for a beer or bottle of wine, and you're all set to watch the sunset while muching on some great eats. Just lovely!“
“I've been a Kaya's Store customer for over 70 years, from back when it was a small general store providing Punalu'u families everything from hardware, ropes and wire, screen, fishing tackle and glass boxes and spears, plumbing parts, cook- & table-ware, groceries, local fruits and vegetables, kerosene, paper kites and string, Duncan yo-yos, gasoline & oil, cold drinks in a iced cooler and treats for kids like popsicles, li hing mui, red ginger, rock candy and candy bars. Kaya's was always a warm and welcoming place, run by a wonderful family. Family members knew their local customers by name and offered helpful advice and tips on home repairs, fishing, gardening and recipes for local-style dishes. Today, they offer an array of superbly-prepared dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My recommendations are too plentiful to list - one should order with confidence, you won't be disappointed. My advice is to keep coming back and try them all! Kaya's also offers a helpful array of well-chosen foods, drinks and staples for weekly sustainment or for those quick, last minute items to complete a meal preparation. Thank you Kaya's ... mahalo pia for a lifetime of irreplaceable and still on-going service and wonderful memories.“
“In planning to relive a memorable dining experience and coming from Waikiki, I did not want to come up to Hauula just to get a plate of food. I did a Yelp search and this was one of two businesses that had a 4+ star rating so I bookmarked it as another stop. Using Google maps on my phone, we reached here a little after 11 am on a Monday morning. A gentleman was seated at one of the tables under the tent who we later learned is part of the business. As we walked up to the truck, we read the menu posted on the truck ( After reading it, I asked the lady who manned the truck for her recommendation and she answered without hesitation. A few minutes later, we both were under the tent and eating our spicy garlic lemon shrimp plate ( At first glance, I was surprised by the size of the shrimp which I would almost categorize as prawns. Need proof of how much I like it... burp ( The sauce was delicious and not overly spicy. My experience with shrimp truck plates is limited as I've only dined at that famous Haleiwa one across from the McD's as you enter town. I liked this more and the accompaniments were certainly more interesting... I enjoy canned corn and don't start me about pineapples. The sweetness of both contrasted well with the tangy, spicy, garlicky sauce on the shrimp and my rice. Before leaving, I was curious and asked the lady's nationality and name. Big thanks to Ms. Zhao or Zhou (sp) for steering us to an enjoyable lunch (she's from a Northeastern province in China). I wouldn't hesitate to stop here again next time I'm in the area. *** Nice to find it is Judy C. approved too ( as I just read her review as well as Nadine's (“
“the food goes without question, it's so good. the burgers are big juicy and craveable. given the choice between laie and kahuku i will always choose kahuku. recently they have been so fast about getting food out and when i asked about it was told it's under new management so it's gonna stay that way!“
“New favorite restaurant. Seriously. This experience could not have been better. Right away the shrimp shack staff were kind, welcoming and friendly, it'd be hard not to be happy in such a beautiful location, right across from the beach with the breeze coming off the water. This spot has a fantastic menu, the three of us went with two plates to share but we could've downed four plates easy. Their coconut shrimp is one of the best bites of my life, served with a mango honey sauce that it SO GOOD and they're being SO CHILL about selling it, they could put up a sign or something to let people driving by know they have maybe the best sauce I've ever had. Their garlic shrimp was great as well, the Mahi Mahi with grilled onions was the other star of the day, I suggest loading up on coconut shrimp and the mango sauce, as much of the mango sauce as you can get away with, and Mahi Mahi and enjoying it all as we did at their tables by the sea. A beautiful experience. This place is a must stop.“
“Wonderful ahi katsu! The owners are great people, friendly and helpful. One day I have to venture out and try their other menu options. I get hung up on the Ahi Katsu and Spicy Ahi mix plate every single time. They are in a new permanent location in Aiea, on Kam Hwy across near 49ers Diner and 7-11. Used to be a used car lot, now home to D&L Seafood, Shay's Smashburgers, Joe's Backyard BBQ, and more.“
“Lei leis was great. Started out great with waters until i found and ant in my drink I was shocked to say the very least. Then, I ordered the egg croissant sandwich and I liked. Then, I ate 2 cookies for dessert which both were amazing. The waitress was very nice and helpful with our experience. Was a beautiful view of the golf course. Overall, a great experience and It won't be my last.“
“This place ended up on our radar thanks to the folks at 22Kailua! It's situated amongst a handful of fast casual spots on North Shore. Lines weren't too long when we were there in September 2021. Not sure we'd take a trip out to North Shore just for this, but it's a fun option if you're already in the area. * Kahuku waffle dog: Steven preferred this one. I just liked the lilikoi honey mustard--certainly not something I've had before. * Lobster dog: I liked the consistency! It reminded me of a crab cake. Steven said he would've liked it more if the dog were marinated.“
“Aji Limo Truck is located on a large lot with about 4 (if I remember correctly) other food trucks - right across from Shark's Cove. Because it's a little tucked away (you have to walk past the food trucks at the front and get on the other side of the parking lot). The food here is amazing - specifically the poke. It's so fresh and flavorful.“
“This food truck lived up to it's great reputation. Simple ordering and grabbing plates through the window. cash only. the garlic shrimp was delicious and gluten free. The spicy shrimp was not overpowering for me. covered picnic tables and a few other vendors nearby. overall, simple and grand.“
“This place can get busy so pace yourself. The food is worth the wait. I love garlic shrimp, but I got steak today with garlic sauce on the rice. Mmmmm. There are a lot of seating here and it's very touristy. The seating is open and fresh air is always nice“
“Ono! Soooo good! Broke da mouth! If your are on Oahu, and anywhere near the north shore, stop by and give them a try! They were way friendly, and the food was plentiful and reasonable. Only $14.95 for a plate which included 12 shrimp and 2 scoops of rice. I also got a side of house mac salad for $2, man I shoulda got 2!“
“We ate at Tanaka Kahuka Shrimp as part of our Circle Island tour and I am convinced this has been one of the best meals of our trip so far! I got the Butter Garlic shrimp (I think there were 9 shrimps total!) and my husband got the Tempura Shrimp - the breading is great, he just needed a bit more sauce as the rice was a bit bland. It was overall a very satisfying meal!“
“Twenty years ago when we lived on North Shore, there were two shrimp trucks with way larger portions, but now that we're back on island, we're trying these new food trucks as well. The blended pineapple smoothie was refreshing and served in a quintessential whole/cored pineapple. The garlic shrimp was a good sized serving with 2 scoops rice and leafy green salad -- lick your fingers while dining and end the meal using a napkin when you're all done. The kind server told me, "feel free to skip the first screen" (the tip), but he deserved a tip to end his Aloha Friday shift. Thanks for the traffic-jam respite with Ono food, ample parking, and shaded picnic tables.“
“We heard about this place a couple of years ago but when we got there, it was closed. Last week we were back and stopped by. The food exceeded our expectations and the poke and sashimi was incredible. My wife doesn't like raw fish but said the grilled mahi tacos were amazing! Unfortunately, there's no place to eat there so we ended up eating at the beach in the car.“
