“We have been going to Gentelin's for about 10 years and the food is consistently excellent. My wife and I were there last night and we both had the filet mignon. I also ordered a crab stuffed portabella mushroom to complement my steak. Talk about YUM! Ryan is the owner and chef, and he takes personal ownership in maintaining the outstanding quality of the food. He also has a special talent of bringing together the right ingredients to make each menu item wonderful. A recent example is the Crabmeat Stuffed Chicken - to die for! The salads are also very good and they offer a $5.00 appetizer from time to time, last night's was Philly Cheesesteak wontons, yummy and very creative! The food always comes out in a timely manner and is always the right temperature. They also have a very good beer, wine, and drink selection too. Ryan has assembled a GREAT team and Beth is our regular server. She is outstanding, professional, and very attentive to our needs. We have had other servers when Beth isn't there and they too are top notch. The restaurant offers a beautiful view of the Mississippi river for added ambience. So if you are in Alton and looking for great food, Gentelin's is the place for you!“

Great beer, great food and the options for one of our kids who has several food allergies puts this place at an easy 5/5 review. “Great place with a few quirks, just be prepared. No credit cards but there's an ATM on site. Pay as you go, no tabs. Only a few menu choices but they're great and cheap, but you can't take them with you. Pay one person for drinks and another for food. Water confiscated on entrance.
