“We worked with Nicky G's to cater our wedding on 12/31/2023. Everything was perfect!! The appetizers and dinner were amazing and far exceeded our expectations. Our guests were telling us that the food was the best wedding food they've tasted. We worked with both Karen and Tom who went above and beyond to ensure our special day was perfect. We cannot say enough great things about the experience and results. Thank you, Nicky G's, for being part of our most memorable day!!“
“Went here for lunch. Friendly staff, there was a bit of a wait, but we were seated quickly. Even for being busy, our server was attentive. I can't say I was impressed with the taste of the food. Big portion sizes, though. My chicken sandwich was just sloppy, dry dispite hot sauce, and the breading was thin and not very tasteful. I've seen great breakfast reviews though, so maybe I just got the wrong thing.“
“Excellent service. Excellent atmosphere. Excellent food. Excellent drinks.Parking: Street parking in front of restaurant and street parking nearby. Circled the block 3 times before finding an available spot.Wheelchair accessibility: Steps inside restaurant.“
“I've been here a few times and enjoyed it both times. The ambiance is a lil upscale but also casual enough that you don't feel underdressed (even if you show up in sweats like me lol). They have a nice bar area and a dining room. I've sat in the dining room during all of my visits. Service has always been friendly and efficient.Their menu has a good selection. I really enjoyed the meatball sub and onion petals. I've also had the cheesesteak and really liked it. My friend that I go with has liked everything they've ordered.Parking can be hard to find if it's a busy time of day and the parking garage is very small and narrow/hard to navigate. I also don't enjoy that depending on where you sit there can be lots of traffic around you. Last time we were close to the door where the food comes out and there was constant movement with food going around us.“
“Good BBQ for a good price. We're Outside is off the beaten path, but it is easy to find. It's just a little shed and you order at one window from the outside and pick your food up at the next window. They have a huge patio if you want to eat on location, but it is not pet friendly.I 'm a fan of Pork Steaks, so that is what I ordered on my first visit. It was fork tender, I could pull off a bite without using a knife. The flavor was good and not over sauced. All their side dishes are housemate and delicious. My sides were; Mac-n-Cheese and Potato Salad. The Mac-n-Cheese was rich and creamy, but for me it needed more pepper (easy fix). My Potato Salad was one of the best that I have had at a BBQ joint. The young lady working the order window was friendly and answered my questions professionally. Owner is usually on site from what I have heard and he to was pleasant to talk with. This location is convenient for me and I'll probably become a regular. So, when you go to give it a try, we may cross paths.“
“We have been going to Gentelin's for about 10 years and the food is consistently excellent. My wife and I were there last night and we both had the filet mignon. I also ordered a crab stuffed portabella mushroom to complement my steak. Talk about YUM! Ryan is the owner and chef, and he takes personal ownership in maintaining the outstanding quality of the food. He also has a special talent of bringing together the right ingredients to make each menu item wonderful. A recent example is the Crabmeat Stuffed Chicken - to die for! The salads are also very good and they offer a $5.00 appetizer from time to time, last night's was Philly Cheesesteak wontons, yummy and very creative! The food always comes out in a timely manner and is always the right temperature. They also have a very good beer, wine, and drink selection too. Ryan has assembled a GREAT team and Beth is our regular server. She is outstanding, professional, and very attentive to our needs. We have had other servers when Beth isn't there and they too are top notch. The restaurant offers a beautiful view of the Mississippi river for added ambience. So if you are in Alton and looking for great food, Gentelin's is the place for you!“
“Charges a debit card fee :-(Two Rules That Prohibit Debit Card SurchargesThere are two sets of rules and regulations that prohibit surcharging when the customer pays by debit card (or a prepaid card). First of all, credit card brands such as Visa and MasterCard do not allow it, so debit card surcharges will violate the contract the merchant has with those companies. That can result in fines, and if the breach of contract continues or is serious enough the merchant risks losing the ability to accept those credit cards. The other restriction is because surcharging on debit card purchases is illegal under federal law. This law was part of the larger package of financial reform regulations called the Durbin Amendment, which was passed in the wake of the Great Recession.“
“Planned to meet friends with under-age kids here on a Friday night after a high school football game. Late-night food options in Alton are sparse. Had eaten here in the past, but apparently this bar/restaurant recently changed ownership. The once loud dance crowd was absent and few cars occupied the parking lot. The menu appeared the same. We ordered chicken wings, peel n eat shrimp and a burger. They only had cajun shrimp left, so after seeing the folks behind me being served the ribeye dinner, I changed my order. Wow. Great flavor, and served with roasted potatoes and fresh green beans. I was impressed. All that was missing was bread, but I didn't care much. I liked the quieter atmosphere and after a very drunk man made a huge scene and a fool of himself, the manager stopped by our table with an apology. Very good service. Excellent value for a steak dinner. Still a great place to eat. The entire meal was less than $30 for two drinks, burger/fries, and steak dinner!“
“I don't get out here enough. This place has always had a special place in my heart as my family has come here many times for special events like birthdays and Castelli's has never failed to impress.Parking: There's always a place to park here, which is great, especially if you have larger parties.“
“Amazing martinis and mixed drinks complemented by a large selection of varieties of whiskey, bourbon and scotch -- all served by wonderful, attentive wait staff. I love coming here again and again to have a nice scotch on the rocks and relax with friends.“
“I had waffles with eggs, link, sausage and bacon. It was perfect. Dad had biscuits and gravy, eggs, and sausage patties. He thoroughly enjoyed his. The service was excellent, the atmosphere light and welcoming. The staff was kind, and delightful. It was a great place to have a meal. I recommend it to everyone!“
“I finally went here for the first time recently, and it was alright. Wasn't sure about the history with the Fast Eddie's name or connection, as I assumed it was like its counterpart where they didn't take cards. It's not too far from the famed bar/restaurant, but in a sketchy part of Alton. You can simply park and walk up to the window and order. Or call ahead. There is no indoor eating. I got the fried chicken meal which came with fries. Soda was extra. I took it down to the river park and ate it. The chicken was good, crispy yet a little bland (should have asked for sauces!). Fries were great. For the soda, they give you small cubed ice, filled more than halfway in the cup. Would I go back? Probably. They have a decent menu, as in they don't just serve fried chicken. They do have other fried goods, as well as milkshakes and other things. And they don't just take cash, they do accept credit cards unlike the "other" Fast Eddies place in Alton.“
“Called ahead and took 16 people. They sat us in the front dining room. We were noisy so it was a good place for us so we didn’t bother diners in main dining area. Everything was set up when we arrived. Menus were given to us and I looked it over. There was several good things to pick from. Would I get the catfish and fries? A Lenten special there’s about 8 long strips rolled in probably Andy’s seasoning. Definitely cornmeal based. It was fried perfectly. Flaky white fish. Crunchy on outside. Piles on rye bread and sharing the plate with french fries. The fries were crinkle fries, and they were fried perfectly as well. Accompanying it was a wonderful Italian salad with h fresh veggies. I started the meal with wings h fresh hot coffee and fresh crispy cold water. Finished with Diet Pepsi since they have only Pepsi products. While waiting they provide pub cheese and crackers. Some people had the famous grilled tenderloin. It came with rye also. Some had cod and some had white fish. Don’t know what it was but everyone said it was good. One person had a pony shoe and the cheese fries looked awesome. Have never had dessert here because we’re always full. They do have cold draft beer which I love. Waitress was nice. Was it perfect? No. Cups are plastic. I never like that. Salad came with the meal. Had to wait for condiments, but it was all minor and we loved it and would do it again.“
“My grandaughter and adult son had a great time, me too! Lots of working games and all free!! Hopefully, the others will be fixed in time. Our food was good, and the bartender was solo, so we had to wait 15 minutes for beverages thru no fault of his! Great winter day spot for family fun!Kid-friendliness: Lots of arcade games!“
“The food was really good all things considered. My only complaint is that the Brussels sprouts appetizer was mainly burnt single leaves that were hard to enjoy. the full brussel sprouts that were present were great though! Highly recommend the Olga bread.“
“Food was good, the guy behind the counter ( i assume was the owner) was even better. He seemed to be a genuinely good guy. I will defiantly eat there again.Note: Web-sight description says " dine in" , however, I did not see any dinning room or tables. That was not a problem, just thought I would mention it.Thanks (to the "guy behind the counter") ,Kevin“
“This is definitely a hidden gem that is a must go to! It is set in an old building with natural hardwood floors and a view of the river. Beautiful quilts are hung throughout and the restaurant is meticulously clean! The staff were constantly cleaning tables and keeping on top of everything. The Pulled Pork Sandwich was tender and flavorful. The Turkey Club was absolutely delicious with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. We had the Turtle Pie and Toll House Brownies for dessert which were both incredible. A table near us had carrot cake and it looked amazing too! Our service was also great! Everyone was very friendly!“
“To say I am blown out of the park by State Street Market would be an understatement. The food and service is top quality. From the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out, not one second will be disappointing. The evening server, Melanie, is a class act. Without a doubt the best server I have ever seen. Knows her stuff in and out.“
