“When heading towards Beverly for a property management home inspection, I wanted to find a local coffee joint that I could get a coffee and a snack of some sort. Afro Joe's was calling to me. Walking in, greeted warmly, the adventure began. If you haven't been, check the menu before you go because you will want to order one of each item! Since it was my first time, most certainly NOT the last, I needed a lifeline. Charmaine to the rescue. I don't know if I manifested or she read my mind , but when I asked which sandwich I should order instantly , she said the short rib! Boom! Done. Next up, a drink choice. Again I was not led astray. The option was a blueberry lavender cold brew topped with rose cold foam. As she was suggesting the option, Charmaine lifted the one she was drinking and again instantly sold. No chocolate croissant available since it was later in the morning but the chocolate morning roll was there and three for three, the order was placed. I already know that I have to come back, time and time again.Just walking in such a chill vibe , perfect music, everyone tables either working or chatting with a friend. The open kitchen invites you to see the hustle and bustle. The garage doors roll up onto the patio for warmer days and what appears to be local art work adorns the walls. When I tell you, this is absolutely no exaggeration, every item was on point! The short rib was so flavor forward eith the bite of picked onions, there was a side of diced pickles and onions too. Also a hit. The warm bun had some fruit nestled in its chocolatey tummy, flakes and moist with the richness of cocoa. And for the latte, cold, sweet and the flavors all complimented each other so well. I did opt for whole milk because, why not?!? I had one too many client emails and texts to be able to enjoy grabbing a book from the shelf but note, they even had the sharpest of colored pencils to doodle or write a note with. I have not one complaint, well, maybe one, I wish they were in my neighborhood because this would be a staple place to visit regularly! Until we meet again and I can get my hands on a chocolate croissant next...or any one of the other of their baked goods. Support your Local Black Owned Businesses!“

“Everything a matcha latte should be. Balanced in every way. Also ordered a bagel sandwich which was pretty good - as an East Coaster bagels in Chicago just don’t hit the same however it was decent. Definitely a bit pricey but overall worth it!“

“The space is big and beautiful with lots of natural light and cool views outside! Their croissant breakfast sandwich was a nice big portion and tasted delicious. Love the location behind the Chicago Park District headquarters so you could go for a stroll or check out the park and recreational fields afterwards.“

“Great space, the band was playing folk music which made it very unique and made us feel like we were in a different place; the server was amazing and not only gave us unbiased opinions on the food but was very attentive and friendly. The food was hit and miss - the fried oysters were on the greasy side and were cooked at different temperatures. The Guinness pours were stellar which is what the main attraction was.“

“Prequel is my favorite coffee shop in Chicago. Their menu is small but it absolutely shines in the coffee department. They really know what they're doing here. The brown sugar cardamom latte is perfectly sweet with just the right amount of spice. The rose and lavender matcha is also a favorite of mine. The florals go so well in the tea, and the strength of the matcha is just right. I have tried their deluxe breakfast sandwich and it was missing something to me, a bit of spice or smokiness or something, and I have yet to try their pastries, but I know I can always count on them to make an excellent latte or cup of coffee, which is what comes first for a coffee shop.“

“I’m new to the neighborhood, and happily have fallen in love with Metric. I walk my dog around the cafe pretty much everyday. The coffee is great, and the pastry is excellent! Most of my experiences with the staff have been lovely, however there is one employee (owner/manager?) that consistently has a bad attitude. For example, today, he was trash talking my half-caff latte order, and voiced out loud in front of not only me, the customer, but everyone else and his coworkers, “who would want to put that **** in their drink?” Isn’t that basically saying you serve bad decaf? I’ll still frequent Metric, because I love it. I just wish every experience was top notch and I didn’t have to roll the dice on having an equally pleasant experience with everyone working there.“

“Wow, this place is AMAZING? Great service, hopping atmosphere, and every single one of our dishes were delicious. We will be making this establishment a regular breakfast place during our Chicago visits! Food ordered was: Breakfast burrito Croissant Sandwich Buttermilk pancakes with a side of crispy bacon!“

“I was visiting from out of town, stumbled across this lovely bakery and immediately fell in love. The atmosphere was amazing with plenty of seating and games available to play (a group was playing giant Uno). The treats are well priced and tasty. The barista was wonderful helping me select which drink to get. I really appreciate that you can add THC/CBD to your drink (and at what level) meaning sober friends can join and also enjoy. Great spot, I'd definitely be back if I lived local and am Hella jealous we don't have anything similar at home.“

“I went for the first time today (FOR SCIENCE!) and pretty much bought one of everything baked (plus an iced cold brew). I can't find a single negative thing to say, aside from wishing I'd bought more! Friendly folks at and behind the counter. The ham and cheese croissants were amazing as was the mushroom Danish! I don't even particularly like BLTs, but theirs was lovely! The almond, strawberry, and chocolate croissants (that's three separate things...) were out of this world! Welcome! “Visited swadesi cafe for brunch on a Saturday. It was quite crowded but found seating after a few minutes. Chilli cheese toastie with gooey cheese and just the right heat was great. Samosa chaat croissant was not bad. The filling was flavorful. But the filling made the croissant a little soggy and the croissant kind of fell apart. Also tried the gulab jamun croissant and malai custard croissant. The filling was really good. But the texture of the croissant was tough and disappointing. Banana cream latte was surprising good.“

“First time here and I loved it! I came during that quiet time between lunch and after work. They have locally-made gelato! They have an AWESOME barista! I am really sorry I forgot to ask their name. Whoever was working Tuesday afternoon, you are great, thank you. They make their own syrups, y'all AND THERE IS WINE, by the glass or bottle and they're open til EIGHT! But for real, everything I have had from them from savory to sweet has been absolutely fantastic, and I am not easy to please when it comes to baked goods.
