“I got the yellow curry and it was amazing! I was in the mood for thai and tried this spot randomly and it did not disappoint. The servings are huge, perfect for leftovers. We also got the chicken satay and it was big juicy pieces of chicken. Can't wait to come here again.“

“It’s not every day you see a family-owned restaurant that's been around for 40 years. They are currently doing takeout only but if they've been around for that long, they must be doing something right. And unsurprisingly, the food here was just as good as some of the most highly regarded Thai restaurants in the city. The spice levels and flavors were undeniably authentic.

The pad kee mao was nicely charred and the noodles were satisfyingly chewy. The nam tok had smoky grilled beef in an incredibly addictive sauce and sprinkled with a generous amount of toasted rice. Pla koong was a particularly interesting dish. It has the same sauce as the nam tok but was additionally loaded with various herbs, making it much more refreshing and complex. The shrimps were slightly raw in the center almost like ceviche. Texturally, they were softer and more flexible, with more of a chew rather than the firm snap of cooked shrimp. Flavorwise, the natural sweetness of the shrimps came through much more clearly. The papaya salad was alright and ended up being the weakest dish of the meal.

I have seen they occasionally hand out watermelon when it’s in season. Now I have another reason to come back and test my luck.“

The service and friendliness of the staff were top tier and every dish we had was out of this world. What a gem of a place. The flavors of the pad thai were unmatched, and don’t even get me started on the custard taiyaki with ice cream. This chef’s talent is unmatched. The owner, cooks and wait staff were all extremely friendly and made each of our visits a wonderful experience. We ordered Chinese and Japanese food and we also sampled some of their new delicious tacos... everything we tried was absolutely fantastic. We live 300 miles away so we ordered a lot of takeout to bring home with us to share with our friends who didn't get to make the trips. Asian Cuisine express will be a regular stop now for us every time we go to Chicago... we highly recommend everyone tries this restaurant and we can't wait until we visit there again. We chatted for a while and I enjoyed the cashew pad Thai I ordered with peanut sauce. Going back year after year, Ruk is a staple for dinner the night I arrive in the city. “I love this place.! The food has always delivered for me. I have been ordering from this place for a long time now. That being said recently I have noticed that the smoky chicken that I absolutely love from this place (no other place around me seems to have smoky chicken option) has had a bit of a texture change from how it used to be sometime ago. It seems to be a little more fried/crunchy rather then tender which is where it is the most delicious. I can't describe it exactly but I know it does not have the same texture as it once did. It is still very good regardless and I will continue to get it but I hope this gets seen and maybe offer some kind of explanation but I recommend this place!“

I would totally recommend this place to eat out with friends and family, they accommodate you really well. Owners are very very nice and humble. I’ve ordered Togo a lot of times before and it’s always been quick and fresh. They have a bar with many many selections. This is a family owned business I think so I try to be patient. “You MUST visit Mai Thai!! I was in town for a work conference and walked over to this place, since it was nearby. I ordered the Panang Noodles off website and got it as takeaway.

I cannot express in words how delicious this curry was!! The curry was a nice blend of sweet and peppery. The lemongrass was just enough to give it a nice fresh taste. Since I ordered this to go, the fried noodles came in separate box. This is my first time trying panang noodles, so I’m not sure if fried noodles is standard, but let me tell you having the noodles fried added such a nice complexity to this dish. 100/10
