“I placed an order to go. Was informed that there was a $3.00 to go charge and a gratuity would be added on the order cause it was over $100.00. After I checked the receipt, $18.35 was the gratuity. I thought it would be maybe $5.00. Very disappointed. Had I known this, I would have come into the restaurant and ate there had them provide me with service. I am a senior and that was definetly not right. I've already instructed my family not to get me gift card from Maple and Jam.“

I started going there when the owner became a client of the company I was working for in the mid-90s, setting up cash registers in the restaurant he opened for his nephew. I no longer live in Chicago, but make it a point to stop there and speak with the owner every chance I get. Always great food and exceptional service! You may have to wait in line, though. Understandably, it's a very popular place!“

“I went for a friends graduation brunch, and it was definitely a hopping spot in the city, and I can see the appeal for the rooftop views alone, but I think it’s a bit overpriced for what you’re getting in my opinion. I had the biscuits and gravy ($25) which was fine but also strange in that it tasted more like a chowder than gravy. I also got the chocolate chip cookies which were and came in an order of 3 for $12. As I said, a bit overpriced for cookies, but actually felt worth it for their size and deliciousness. Of course, part of why you’re coming here is for the views and this place did not disappoint! Despite it being a very hot day outside, there was a good crowd out there especially because there’s a bar on the patio as well. And even though it was very busy throughout the entire time there, my party and I had fairly consistent service, although I did have my drink order forgotten, but the server ended up comping me for it, which made up for it.“

My husband ordered a side of bacon to go with his salad and the kitchen took the extra step to cut it up for him when they didn't have to. And while the restaurant is an upscale mature environment, they were extremely accommodating to our toddler and were so very friendly and warm to our family. From the hosts, to our waiter, to each employee who passed by everyone was so warm and welcoming. We will 100% return!“

“We had the repast for my father's funeral at the Firehouse Restaurant in their Palmer Parlor. The O'Malley's and their Event Manager Carolyn Orlando couldn't have created a better environment for us to celebrate my dad's life. Their staff made it feel like they were serving their own family. Only downside, I wish they were a little bigger and on the online menu it pictured it came with coleslaw. It did come with fries that were nice and crispy. “Today I visited Taste 222 with my high school friend and I have to say, the atmosphere was fantastic—warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed dining experience. The service was mostly attentive, which made for a pleasant visit. However, when it came to the food, I was disappointed. I ordered the Southern Catfish Combo, expecting a hearty meal, but what I received didn’t match the advertised portion. Instead of two full pieces of catfish, it was just one filet cut in half, which felt misleading. Unfortunately, my experience was further dampened by an interaction with one of the waiters. While handing us our takeout boxes, he went out of his way to avoid any contact with our hands, which felt uncomfortably intentional. Moments like this can leave a lasting impression, and it was disappointing to experience such behavior in an otherwise well-regarded establishment. Overall, while the ambiance was great, the food and certain aspects of the service left much to be desired. I hope to give them another try in the future under better circumstances.“
