“Being from the suburbs traveling downtown can be an experience. This particular experience made our day. Moving our daughter into DePaul we came upon the owner of Red Light chicken who gave us a few pointers in parking near his establishment, after taking the time to help us find a spot he happily welcomed us with a free chicken sandwich which I’m happy to report was delicious. It was nice meeting you tonight and I’ll be certainly stopping by again - Fries are a game changer to!!!“

We ordered through DoorDash, and when we called the restaurant, they were incredibly generous. Since we loved the food so much, they went above and beyond by adding extra items like mac and cheese and additional fries. It was a thoughtful gesture that truly enhanced the experience. “Great atomosphere cool concept like how they call out the alcohol and food orders when Ready. The pimento Mac was great flavor, as was the mashed and gravy. Very unique to have boneless breast thighs wing and leg portions battered and fried. Was very good. I just think the sauces were way to pricey at $1.45 a sauce wow even 99 cents seems a lot but would feel better lol. At least give one with the order or reduce the sauce price. But overall they need to spread this concept into more areas for sure out side like in the suburbs“

“I’ve loved this place since the day I started ordering it! I order this almost every week or every other week when I’m at work in the evening. It’s always delivered fresh and warm and the chicken is amazing the seasonings are fantastic! And the names of the items to order are hilarious also the humor in me makes me laugh at them!“

“I came here initially because I got a sponsored instagram ad claiming that they have “the best grilled chicken in chicago”….a bold claim to make! I came in and tried it expecting nothing special and was absolutely blown away. I’ve been back 50+ times since.
I would recommend dining in if possible- heavily seasoned and marinated chicken hot off the grill with a beautiful char- it simply cannot be beat!“

“To start, I think this establishment was a hit when it arrived to Chicago. Food was fresh, hot and service was always good. Boxcar Betty was a fave chain that didn’t survive in wicker park, but me & my homie instantly felt like this became our suitable replacement at first bite and it has been to date.

Unfortunately, my recent experience as of 9/13/25 @ 7pm matched the most recent comments of discontent. My fries were greasy and not all crispy and more fresh tasting as I previously recalled. They weren’t hot as I’d usually experienced. Even my sandwich was lukewarm (not hot) and fresh tasting as it used to be. Especially considering I ate in establishment. I don’t recall the tenders ever being of generous proportions, but mine were definitely smaller than i recall. I’m fine with smaller portions as long as the amount given make up for this and hopefully the chickens are ethically raised. Ownership must understand that we have many options in our big foodie city — filled with excellent alternatives. Hopefully they make it right, because it’d be unfortunate to see you all end like good ol’ Betty. The bevs are still tasty, tho. Just do the sensible thing of listening to the people circulating money into your biz if it matters to you as much as it does to those taking time to leave reviews, which is better than leaving you without a care as you may become another good thing that used to be…

Thankfully, my service experience still remains as it began.“
