The manager that was on duty was one of the kindest people I’ve ever encountered at a restaurant and the food came out fast and was delicious. “We live in North Liberty and last minute made a decision to drive an hour to the quad cities to spend Valentine’s Day. We quickly realized we may have waited too long and couldn’t find anywhere taking reservations or walk ins. We came across antonellas and waited for them to open. I’m so glad we did! I’m not sure if we would’ve enjoyed anywhere else quite as much. They were short staffed and still delivered us a perfect meal from the wine to the pasta. “I haven’t been here in years. I looked online for family deals on Mondays, and I saw the family night on Monday night. So I checked the menu online, and found the Milan Happy Joes has a family special, for $25 and it comes with pizza and pop. Okay. So I call, and order ahead. I honestly think I could have clarified exactly what the special was, but in my defense, I thought I was ordering what the menu showed so it didn’t occur to me to verify. Plus, for years, it’s always been that. Hind sight is always 20/20.

When we arrived, she said drinks were not included, but what would we like. I’m stunned. She got our drinks. I was thinking about this, and my husband came back from the restroom and I let him know that actually the family special is evidently $27.99 and comes with breadsticks and cinnamon pizza. Drinks are not included. So my husband talked to a manager. To which the manager replied, well that’s a Google doc. Which. That is incorrect, Google was the search engine I used….. he also said well that’s Google and not happy joes. So I said okay, let me show you how I got here. So I went to happy joes, clicked deals, and it asked for participating locations. I clicked Illinois, then I clicked Milan. From there, I clicked menu. I screenshotted the menu, and the home page of my phone to show the date I was here, October 6, 2025. Technically I could sue happy joes for them not honoring their contract. However that’s silly and I’m not going to do that. BUT, the menu should reflect what they are selling, and it should reflect correctly.

So, once the manager realizes, that I wasn’t on a “Google docs” as he so put it, whatever that is……he told me he is not responsible for corporate and what they put on their menu. He also said that it’s a lot of food, and I can’t expect that price listed. (I didn’t realize what I was ordering, I thought the family special was JUST pizza and pop)

So. With all that said,

We had, a small pepperoni. A half nacho Joe, and half sausage. The special comes with a tiny cinnamon pizza, and a cheese bread with marinara sauce.

Not one single complaint with the food. Everything was hot, and fresh. I’ve actually never had the cheese bread, or the cinnamon bread, and I can see why they would be on the special, because they were soooo good and possibly the stars of the show. It SHOULD be reflected on the menu.

Would I come here again? I want to say yes, because it’s good, and nostalgic. I just have to pray about my attitude in regards to the conversation I had with the manager, because he made me feel as if I, was the problem.“

“Hunt Brothers Pizza is a great pizza for anybody searching for really good tasting food the employees are always very respectful their Pizza is also never undercooked or overcooked it is always just right with a perfect amount of toppings“

“Yesterday, Thanksgiving 2025, we experienced the Riverfront Grille for the first time. The staff were happy to see us, friendly and very attentive. Second, the food was outstanding. Turkey and ham were done to perfection, a variety of salads, soups and sides were homemade and delicious. Lastly, the overall experience (including desert) on a busy day was wonderful. “So… I grew up on Happy Joe’s Pizza. As a kid I used to climb the stairs to the viewing window and watch the employees make the pies. Then I even worked for the company in my late teens and early twenties for 5 years. Loved that stuff. I eventually became one of the people that started early and made fresh dough every day. I never got tired of it! Fast forward to the 2010s-2020s and I became very disappointed with the quality of Happy Joe’s Pizza to the point that I wouldn’t buy it anymore. And yes it is expensive. The majority of the ingredients are the same as they were 30 years ago or more but the crust was like cardboard. Yuk! Every once in a while I think “what if they went back to freshly made dough every day? Then they could charge a lot because you know you are getting the quality again.” Well today I decided I was craving a Combo Pizza (formerly garden) from Happy Joe’s. I grabbed one on my way home at lunch. At the drive up window I asked the manager if they ever considered making dough from scratch again instead of frozen. She then told me something that blew my mind… they are making the dough from scratch again! Since restructuring things after recent world events (the disease that shall remain nameless) they started making dough daily again in Milan and it is shipped to Rock Island and a couple other stores. She said "it’s as close to the old recipe as they can get." On my drive home I scarfed down the pizza and was surprised to discover it was super good! I even ate the “pizza bones”! I looked down at the small pizza box… No survivors… So excited that Rock Island Happy Joe’s is back to kicking butt again! Next time: Taco Supreme…“

“Huge shout out to Happy Joe's Pizza & Jungle Bungle - W. 50th took my kiddos here tonight for the first time and had a blast. Staff was off the charts helpful and entertaining. The "Jungle" is massive and the slides are crazy. My 2 and 4 year olds freaked out when they walked in. Pizzas(2 large) were fire and the cheese sticks (we got the large order as well) all the food fed 2 adults, a 9 year old and my littles with plenty of left overs for the late night snack fest. Making this a trip at least a couple times a month from now on when we wanna unwind locally. 100% recommended this for anyone with hyper kiddos.“
