“I have been going to this place for the past number of years and every single time the steaks are cooked perfectly. I actually requested “medium rare plus“. Cooked, char grilled perfectly. Highly recommend the cowboy ribeye bone in. All food, including the sides and even desserts are outstanding. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. Quality of the service matched the quality of food. it’s nice when the experience and quality of food and Service matches the cost. Well worth it!“

“We had Brittany serving our table of 5. They went above and beyond for our bachlorette party. Small Details made a huge difference. Bride had a white napkin when the maids had black. Hearts on the table. Free glass of their Dole and dessert. And when we asked for recommendations on where to go after dinner, the whole service team put together a list for us. Brittany was our waitress and she was so kind and friendly. Excellent service from her. Had multiple other workers coming to congratulate the bride. Food was very very good. Appetizer was even plated for us at the table.“

“We've not been there since 2017 due to relocation but have nothing but fond memories of Dover Straits. When we bought our house in Grayslake in 1995, our realtor took us there to celebrate. We continued going, mainly for birthdays, anniversaries or impress out of towners, and were never disappointed. We have immediate access to super fresh seafood in Florida but miss the ambiance and supper club vibe Dover Straits provided. Loved that the owners always greeted us like we were worth a million bucks.“

Booked reservations thru Open Table, arrived early and got seated right away in a cozy booth in the bar. There was a card and Anniversary placard waiting for us on the table. We were offered complimentary champagne to toast right away which was delicious. Our server Susan was outstanding and all the food was exceptional. We split a wine flight - loved them all! The pacing was terrific we didn’t have to wait long for anything but we never felt rushed. We went all out for the special occasion with soup, a starter, entrees, sides and desserts but would choose more affordable happy hour options to go more frequently. The menu changes four times a year (with the seasons) and all the calorie counts are kept low for the entrees which I love.“

“We arrived a bit early of our reservation (4:35 for 5:00 reservation). The restaurant was mostly empty but they searched for over 5 minutes to finally seat us. That is a bit long when finding a table in a virtually empty restaurant. Even if staffing is an issue. Never at any other restaurant have we ever been made to wait for a table that is available. “What an experience! I’m a BBQ snob and this place met my standards. My opinion: love the ribs, burnt ends, hot links, pulled pork, mac n cheese and chicken. Liked the brisket, turkey, sweet potato fries. Baked beans weren’t my favorite.

Coffee was good and we were very happy w the pork chops, chicken philly and chicken club sandwiches. That being said my salad lacked tomatoes and cucumbers. My chops were advertised to be center cut loin and I got one loin and one rib chop.“

(Heather W) our server made several recommendations we decided to go with the Calamari all I can say it was delicious pleasant taste and the dipping sauce perfect.Hubby ordered the steak It was super tender like butter.they truly invested in getting quality meat for their guest. I had the salmon cajun seasoning which gave it a perfect balance of rich flavor I personally love It.
Ruth Chris will be our go to for now on.Our waiter Kevin brought out our food we love the food and the presentation, Kevin and Heather W truly outstanding workers that we had the pleasure to interact with .The special touch on the birthday cheesecake with fresh fruit a single candle lit.added that special classy touch.

“I really really liked this place. The food was great good. Mashed potatoes lime my mom made(and she made food mashed potatoes:) The steak kabobs were amazing. Tender and perfectly cooked. The drinks were both generous and flavorful at prices that beat the local area(same for the food real value).
Amazing time with the piano player. Am I using AMAZING to much...well, for me was the best night In a week of Chicago area including a Michelin mention downtown (for me this was better and honestly maybe 1/4 of the price).
