“I brought my mom here for lunch and everything was wonderful! We both have food allergies and they were very attentive and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. In addition to that, everything was delicious! We both got burgers, hers had bacon and mine was without bacon and both were amazing! The fries were also really good, crispy and well salted. I can't say enough good things about my visit. We'll definitely come back!“
“We had stellar service on our previous visit. On our most recent visit our waitress was not very attentive or particularly friendly, even though she was not super busy. We still left a good tip, though. The food is great, the beer is good, and my wife and I enjoyed a wonderful casual date night at the bar. Prices are surprisingly reasonable too, considering the location, popularity, and quality of food.“
“While the food is excellent and locally sourced, the prices are high. It's an a la carte menu. They even charge for bread. Soups are $8, salads $15+ and they're not entree size. I suggest sharing entrees to save money and enjoy the food.“
“I really like this place. Seated immediately for a 5pm Sunday reservation, we were greeted by a wonderful server who never disappointed. Orders taken promptly, drinks refilled and questions answered. The food was delicious, from fish to steak to burger(a tad slow receiving our food but that really wasn't a problem and it happens in most restaurants we've visited recently). Scotty's is relatively small and filled up quickly with what seemed like regulars, and the noise level increased as well...but that's to be expected in a friendly neighborhood joint. We've been disappointed by a couple of other restaurants in Highwood but recommend this one without question.“
“We had a really nice dinner here a couple days before Christmas. It has a really cozy neighborhood feel and the waiter was super nice. They have a daily happy hour which was awesome, we got mussels and cocktail shrimp for a really good price. It is very family friendly, they were very kind to our toddler. The best thing we ate there among many good things was the apple galette dessert, it was amazing.“
“This was the first time here and definitely will not be the last, starting off, our server was the best (Monica) she was attentive and was there each time we needed something, she was very personable and an assett to the restaurant. Next... the food (fairly priced)EVERYTHING was fresh, hot and DEELISH, and we were celebrating 2 birthdays, which each person got a birthday card signed by the staff, it was a nice touchI definitley recommend this place.“
“I was always resistant to trying bar food but my son loves going there with his friends so, I had to give it a try and to my surprise, the food was absolutely amazing. I used to only order the sample platter, steak sandwich and chicken wings but last night I tried their steak fajitas and it was surprisingly spectacular. Their margarita didn't taste as authentic as the food made by authentic Mexicans. However the manager was kind enough to offer me an amazing old fashioned and the bartender nailed it making my experience even more special. I'm not a fan of dive bars but they make you feel very welcome definitely turning into one of my regular places to go!“
“This place seemed as if it was an upscale sports bar. Plenty on tvs to view games, but above that was the food! I was very surprised at how everything tasted, making me savor that last bite. Cocktails ? were pleasant and just the overall presentation. If you are in the area, definitely make a stop and try this place. The fried alligator was a hit!!“
“Local spot that's small but so great for Friday night fish fry. We talked to strangers sitting around us at their table and it became such a fun night meeting new people. Everyone was so nice and friendly. Small but mighty. Support your local establishments.“
“Wanted to love it more. Lots of rapport between staff and patrons so it’s clearly a real local regulars place. Tables are packed in tightly. Felt like I was in the space of the couple behind us especially when I stood up.Beef bourguignon was very pretty but underseasoned. No detectable red wine taste to the sauce or meat. Beet salad was declared “fine.” We started with the spring rolls which were good and the potstickers .. good except the sauce with ketchup and sweet chili notes was a bit overpowering. All the appetizers on the menu were Asian except focaccia and soup. Desserts were enjoyed. Cocktails were good.Funny to see menu highlights in google maps include tiramisu, scallops, and hangar steak, none of which were on offer during our visit.“
“My wife and I have been here many times and alway get the steak. We decided to try the salmon and the scallops. On my where they incredible. If you want a great atmosphere and great food with friendly service I highly recommend coming and definitely try the fish as well as “
“I had the an exceptional experience here. A courteous gentleman, graciously recommended some dishes to us, which turned out to be delightful choices. He periodically checked in on us throughout the meal, ensuring our satisfaction. I highly recommend this restaurant.“
“Came here for a family member's birthday. The menu was updated and the food was very tasty with large portions. The atmosphere is energetic and fun. I would recommend more low-carb options but otherwise this place is fire ?. I got a healthy dinner regardless that was very tasty.“
“This is a cool spot in Highwood. Nothing really stands out as exceptional, but everything was pretty good.I got the rueban sandwich because we were there on St Patrick's Day. It was ok. The plain French fries were very average, but the truffle fries were much better. The calamari was good, but the other appetizers were not so much. The goat cheese was bland and the crab cakes were small and mushy.I had an alcohol free cocktail and it was good, but not $9 good. The cheeseburger and chicken sandwich were both loved by our dining partners. The service was pretty slow, but I'm sure they were under staffed since it was a holiday weekend.“
“Visited this PBK location for the first time today. It was pristine and bright inside. All three of the staff members were equally cheery and kind. Maddie, in particular, was phenomenal!! She helped customize my order and with genuine joy, too! Will be returning for sure!!!“
“Food options and preparations were excellent. Dishes creative. Service outstanding and gracious. Choices of desserts superlative as it also had a patisserie. Wanted to try them all. The ambience was beautiful and warm. I love dining out and I live in Chicago but happened to be up north. I would most definitely go back again“
“They serve consistently good food paired with interesting and delicious wines. Not inexpensive, but it is more like dining in a city restaurant. For a small place in a strip shopping center they are doing something right to have been around for a long time.“
“Our server was very attentive. We always love coming here for lunch. One of the bus boys spilled a glass of water on me. He did not handle it great and barely apologized. The maitre d saw what happened and right away asked if we were ok and offered to comp our lunch, seeing how I was pretty drenched. It was super nice and exactly how I would have expected it handled. She was great. I know accidents happen but it was just too bad the bus boy didn't seem apologetic. We will of course be returning!“
“First and foremost, the staff of any restaurant are the ones that truly keep an establishment running and thriving and are the heart and representation of the business. The hostess / order-taker and crew at Stacked and Folded, were super friendly to us and offered such great customer service! The atmosphere inside is very nice and offers an elevated casyal food experience.Even though the average taco is around $6.50, it is very large and offers a lot of the actual ingredients. This was the case with my short rib taco. The short rib taco did offer a little bit of that spicy hot but not too much which was good, and yes, was slightly sweet in the sauce as advertised. Overall, the flavor combination was very good and would rate it a 3.9 out of 5. It was just tender and juicy enough, but could even be a little bit more tender in the meat. I know it is not easy when it comes to short ribs and believe me they did a good job here! It is worth getting! We had also ordered the short rib sandwich, but I recommend to have the short rib in the taco form. It just taste even better with the corn tortillas! The sweet potato fries are a five out of five star! Some of the best I’ve ever had in my life. They are cooked perfection, and have that right texture on the outside and perfect on the inside. Amazing. Now as a cook, my (James’) critique is focused on the shrimp taco. Like every other item, Katherine and I had, the shrimp taco is made in a very fresh and flavorful, non-greasy and healthy tasting manner. What observations and what can be worked on from the creators of the menu is the following:The shrimp in your shrimp tacos-at least when we visited—was just plain cooked shrimp and was actually dry. My advice based on the best shrimp tacos I have ever encountered or made are taking thawed raw shrimp, then marinate them of course, and grill them briefly and just right so that they come out juicy and tender and with that amazing flavor profile. That would make your shrimp tacos a five out of five.“
“A beautifully designed restaurant. Sort of small for large parties, but it does support outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. The service was exceptional The waiter that assisted me was very tentative or perhaps it was because I went during lunch on a weekend day. With that said the lunch menu is very limited. Only saw around 10-15 items on the menu that you could order during the lunch hours. Service was good and the appetizer I had was good. Will recommend this place if you're on a date or if you're looking for something mellow this is the place to be, wouldn't recommend it if you have a party of 8+ as seating seemed very limited. Another observation that I made was that there were a lot of people that confuse this place with Milwalky Taco - Perhaps changing the name can help avoid patrons getting confused.“
“This is my favorite place to stop when I’m in the Lake Forest area. The food and drinks are great, I’ve never waited for a table, and the service is outstanding. Grace T is the warmest welcome every time I come in. I specifically ask for her every single time because she makes it such a fun experience. She’s the best of the best! Great vibes on a Thursday evening, I’ll be back ASAP!“
“We were celebrating a birthday of a relative, and the food and service were great. However, there are two rooms where we were in one of them, and the sound of music and laughing and stuff carries from one room to another, interfering with speakers and conversations. Also, to get to a bathroom we had to walk through a room where other people had their own party, essentially violating their privacy. Still a good choice with reasonable prices.“
“Finally tried out Southern Kitchen! DELICIOUS! DELICIOUS! DELICIOUS! From the perfect sized kids menu options, to the delicious biscuits and gravy, perfectly made hash browns, decadent cinnamon and sugar donuts, fruit smoothies and refreshing iced espresso- not one detail was missed! Check them out!!!!“
“Restaurant was open and bright with a nice fireplace and great looking bar. Our server was prompt and knowledgeable when we asked about entrees. The crab cake and the short ribs were delicious. The butter cake was very good also. We enjoyed our evening and will definitely add the Lawn to our dining list.“
“This place has never missed the mark with service in my experience, and I frequent at least once a month. The drinks are always cold, fresh, and reasonablypriced. The food is delicious and fresh as well... my favorites are the smoked wings, cheese curds, beer nuggets, and chicken pesto sandwich. The staff is uber friendly and it felt great seeing many of them take the time to greet me (while I was on crutches) after a couple months hiatus (since I was injured). The Live Entertainment on weekends is always a huge plus as well! SIX SPEED TRANNY rocked the house yesterday“
“Been coming here for 20+ years. Never disappoints! I had a cheeseburger w/the 2yr aged cheddar and applewood smoked bacon. My companion had the salmon sandwich. We both tried new beverages as they have such an amazing selection of different and more obscure selections! Belllchhhhhh!!!“
“We have taken several tour groups to Hangar Two by Tangled Roots Brewing Co. The food is amazing and the staff is friendly and extremely professional. We love a venue that we can trust with our clients. We plan to bring many more groups. Thank you to Caryn Z. Shulman and Earnest for treating our group as if it were your own family!“
“Possibly my new favorite restaurant! Went on a date night, loved the atmosphere and our server Marisol was so kind, great service! She easily accommodated my gluten allergy. We both had burgers and agreed they were probably the best burgers we've ever had. Looking forward to coming back.“
“Beautiful room, attentive service, and generous servings of excellently prepared dishes. The desserts are excellent, though the types were limited. I loved the chocolate cake - it was huge. I love the restaurant and will definitely return.Dietary restrictions: The kitchen addressed all my dietary restrictions due to my many food allergies. Made adjustments without compromising the flavor of my dishes. Amazing!“
“This catering outfit does a fabulous job. I recently worked with them for a wedding shower I threw at my home. They were terrific in every way-responsive, helpful with menu ideas and amounts, and all of the food was delicious. They dropped off the food the morning of the shower and returned to retrieve their baskets the following week. I would use them again without hesitation.“
“Mind blowing exceptional experience. From the front desk experience with the manager (asst manager?) to paying the bill, our visit was fantastic. Employees were very friendly. Food was top notch taste. Menu was abundant. Service was impeccable. Prices are extremely fair. Ambiance is very welcoming. Our spur of the moment visit on a Saturday night could have not gone better. Do yourself a favor and make the trek here, you will not regret it. A 15 minute ride north of Chicago and worth every minute and any fuel costs incurred. A civilized society where you are treated well awaits you at Pinstripes.? Oh, and a few of the best Old Fashioned adult beverages I've ever had.Thank you Pinstripes, we will be back. And back. And back...“
“Food was very good. I had the lemon chicken as a take-out order. I ordered by phone and it was ready in ten minutes. The new owner, Jimmy's son, is getting acquainted with the menu so wasn't super helpful with my questions but that's to be expected. He also wasn't as readily available as his dad was when I arrived but that too may come in time. I hope the family keeps it open as it's a staple in Des Plaines. Rest in peace Jimmy.“
“My husband and I stopped by for impromptu lunch take-out. He had the Maevery Burger and I the Gnocchi Pomodoro. Both selections were top-notch! The venue is inviting and fresh, with swanky decor - we will for sure revisit for a sit-down dinner. Thank you!“
“Oaken Bistro was our stop before a play at Citadel Theater. But what we thought would be a quick bite to eat with a cocktail turned out to be a really fantastic experience! Our server Dane was attentive and got our orders accurate as well as making some fabulous suggestions for food choices ... the honey/goat cheese app was out of this world and a generous portion as well. We happen to love a good old fashioned cheeseburger and this place did not disappoint with a nice slight char taste to it. Our cocktails, a Negroni and their special Oaken Old Fashioned were both yummy and well crafted. The manager was seen many times strolling thru the restaurant to be sure everything was top notch and the busser kept our water refilled. The ambience was a warm and inviting vibe despite having a modern appeal, which can be a tricky combination. We plan to return very soon!!“
“Excellent burgers and fries. I loved being able to bring my pup in and she enjoyed her supper, too. Unfortunately we came at about 445 and there was an after school crowd that was loud and obnoxious. They trashed the dining area. I felt bad for the employees and they made for an unpleasant dining experience for “
“This is a great option for lunch with a fantastic price point. I got a pizza/salad combo for $12. Our server Melissa was incredibly attentive and brought our Diet Coke refills before we even asked. She also let me substitute the chicken in the Thai crunch salad for avocado with no issue. Highly recommend this spot - very nice and friendly servers and a good price!“
“Breakfast at 11:00! Yes! Love a Sunday late breakfast! This is the place to go for breakfast! I haven't tried their lunches yet. My breakfast was a veggies skillet. The potatoes were the best I've ever had, nicely seasoned and crispy. Veggies included were spinach, “
