“The food and staff at 54th St in Glen Carbon are great but I REALLY HATE how after the remodel they can’t open the patio doors. What is the point of even saying you have a patio when it is all closed up.“

“I won’t say I don’t recommend as we’ve been there a couple times before and had a great experience! Last night neither of us enjoyed what we ordered, our fault, we both went against what we were going to originally order….we ate it, it’s fine, you live and learn. Our waitress is what left a bad taste. It’s like she instantly had something in her head about us or we weren’t one of her regulars that she had to cater to as she was sitting, laughing and chatting with those around us. Not friendly, short answers and would set our drinks down after being told thank you and just walk away. The only time there was even a hint of friendliness is when it came time to pay.“

First off, the vibe is awesome. The building has a cozy, rustic look with tons of warm wood and soft lighting. Its big enough to feel lively but still has that tucked-away, hidden gem feel. If the weathers good, grab a table outside the patio is beautiful and perfect for a long evening of hanging out.

The food? Totally hits the spot. Their smoked meats and sandwiches are next-level, and the sides arent just filler everything is fresh and full of flavor. The appetizers are great for sharing (bacon-fat popcorn is a must-try), and the entrees come in generous portions thatll actually fill you up.

Drinks are another win. They keep a solid craft beer list and pour some excellent cocktails. The bartenders know their stuff and are happy to help you find something new.

And the staff ties it all together friendly, quick, and genuinely happy to have you there.

“If you like local dive bars and pizza this is the place to go. Their pizza is the bomb ? The staff is friendly and most of the regulars are too. Lol. They also have an AMI jukebox, an ATM machine, several TV screens to watch sports games, and video gambling machines. They have a back patio with seating for smokers and they usually have heat out back when they remember to refill the propane tanks. It’s usually just one bartender waiting on everyone and making the pizzas in their pizza oven. Drink a cold one and enjoy the atmosphere while you wait. ??“

“I stopped by Applebee's for a cocktail. I tried their featured holiday drink. I was fun, festive, and had a decent amount of alcohol. The price was reasonable.
I recommend these drinks. Please drink responsibly.
The booth I was sitting in was worn out and uncomfortable. The carpets could use a good shampoo. The waiter was friendly and efficient.
I have dined here in the past and the food was tasty.
The restaurant is child friendly, wheelchair accessible and has plenty of free parking.

Went in for Day 1 of my birthday celebrations, walked in with full crown and bday sash it brightened up everyone's day hehe.

Our waitress was nice, organized, thought ahead, non-judmental about my food allergies and me being so extra for my bday 🎂 🥳 activities.

We ordered waffles with eggs, turkey bacon, grits and had browns and they were as great as expected. The hot chocolate was good though it would have been better to fully desolve the powder in a smaller amount of hot water then fill the cup after.

They no longer have the syrup basket but as you can see in the photos they do service it in little cups upon request.

Overall the experience was nice, not a long wait time, and friendly environment. It would have been sad if this place was closed but Im happy its still standing. Until next time, happy eating 🥰🥳“

“We live 2 hours north and were in town for a Band Competition, we stopped in to eat. Our server Jordan was fabulous. With it being our first time there the manager sent us some free deviled eggs to sample! Highly recommend the deviled eggs, so tasty! They were a little busy with several parties and took a little longer to get our food but our server was attentive and apologetic for the wait. We were not mad or upset about the wait, totally understand when it’s busy. The manager gave us a free dessert for the wait. The customer service is top notch and they seem to care about the customers. And a plus that the food is delicious!!!! Highly recommend!! We will def be back!“

“A hidden gem. The food is always delicious. A must try for breakfast. The omelets are huge and could easily be shared. The pizza is delicious, my husband and I think their pizza is some of the best pizza around. They have a large selection of salad options for lunch and portion sizes are great. I have never had a bad meal here. My husband and I eat here 2 or 3 times a month, usually for a late breakfast or early lunch on Sunday and have always had a great experience.“

“This upscale bar and restaurant has amazing drinks, delicious appetizers, outstanding entrées with sides and desserts to match; and a phenomenal staff/atmosphere. We were greeted by Simmi, a very gracious and warm hostess. Simmi made us feel right at home and we seated right away as we did have a reservation. We ordered a salad which was delicious with homemade dressing and crunchy croutons, the fillet which had a scrumptious tomato jelly topping and the meat was tender, juicy and scrumptious. The mac & cheese was mouthwatering, yummy and to die for. We were so stuffed that we skipped dessert but I have been there before and they are incredible. Our waiter was outstanding and very attentive. My favorite steak restaurant USED to be Texas Roadhouse however, it was and still is a hit or miss as the Dallas fillet would be raw and still mooing or dry and tough. The price at restaurant House of Bourbon match the amazing taste flavor and and is worth every bit of the upscale price. If I’m going eat a steak, I want it to be perfect flavorful juicy and tender and that is what I received at the 1933 House of Bourbon. “I ordered online and got errors stating problems with website on 12/16. I stopped by as it appeared that everything went through including the charge. I stopped by the store and the manager saw what I was seeing and worked with me to get my order processed (which was not easily resolved). He was very patient and helped get my order processed. Very nice, friendly, and helpful staff.“

“I live in Clayton Missouri & I had to drive out to this area for my Dog at Cavaliers Furniture. It was way past my lunch time. They had a few area Fast Food joints but instead of grabbing greasy food I decided to check this Applebees out. It has been about 8 years since I’ve stepped foot inside any Applebees. Great customer service from the bar, front desk, table staff to my waitress Courtney B! I decided to try the Crispy Bacon & Ranch Chicken sandwich w/Fries. I asked prior to ordering if I should get the grills or crispy & my waitress said she only had the Crispy & it was good. So, I went with it. It was that good! Great choice. When I’m in the area I most definitely will be back. Until then, I’ll be visiting my areas locations for now on. I’ve obviously been missing out!

“The only thing that disappoints about this place is they close early. The food is excellent, large portions for a small price and friendly people. I ordered the gyro and I got the soup with it. I expected a smaller bowl since it was not the main dish, but the bowl was a meal by itself. The gyro was delicious and they had real tzatziki sauce (cucumber sauce).“
