“We had a reservation for Easter Brunch for 11 and a high chair. When we arrived it was a bar height table. I mentioned it to them. They were very gracious apologized and corrected the problem within 15 minutes. This was my first time at the Oak at The Glen. Nice variety at the buffet, great omelets, crap cakes, paiella, lox and bagels, fruit, desserts. Nice selection for children. Everyone we had contact with was cheerful and seemed happy we were there. I highly recommend.“

“This is almost one and only brunch restaurant nearby in Glenview. I went there on Saturday around 12pm for lunch and the restaurant was full of the customers! It seemed like all the families and friends were coming here after church. We were sitting next to a table that was celebrating the grandma's birthday who just turned into her 94 year old! It was so warm and sweet.Elly's Pancake House was for all ages, from kids, teenagers, young couples to 40s and elderly. This place is definitely being loved by everyone.I ordered Chicken and Bacon Waffle and my boyfriend ordered Skillet, as always, and he said Elly's Skillet is almost the Best Number 1 Skillet he've ever had. The Waffle was sooo great and their side salad was very huge. I mean, their waffle is really different than others - it's thick, crisp and delicious... Also it actually contains bacon in the waffle dough....Yum!We also had some pancakes on the side and it was good too.Only one minor thing that they can improve is their staffing. I think they need more servers, I didn't get a refill for my coffee during my entire meal. Our server was too busy taking care of so many tables.Nonetheless, I will visit this place next week again!Parking: Parking lot is large but always filled with cars! Because it's so popularKid-friendliness: Several Awesome Options for Kids“

Whiskey River is not just a bar; it's a crucible where the spirits of hospitality meld with the essence of community, birthing an experience that transcends the mundane. In an age where the digital ether threatens to usurp our sense of connection, Whiskey River stands as a bastion of the tangible, the real. It's a realm where Athena, with her unmatched prowess behind the bar, weaves magic into every drink, turning first-time visitors into lifelong patrons, drawn back time and again by the allure of a place that feels like a second home. The transformation under new ownership is a delicate dance between preservation and innovation, where the essence of what made Whiskey River a beloved haunt remains untouched, even as subtle changes imbue it with new life. It's a testament to the understanding that in the world of bars and grills, the soul of a place is its people—both those who serve and those who are served. In Glenview, a town that dances to the rhythm of its own beat, Whiskey River Bar & Grill is more than a mere establishment; it's a chapter in the story of a community that finds joy in the simple pleasures of good food, great drinks, and the company of those who share in the unspoken bond of humanity. It is here, amidst the laughter and clinking glasses, that one remembers the beauty of life in its unvarnished truth, a reminder that in the end, it is not the places we go, but the memories we make and the hearts we touch that truly matter. So, to those wandering souls searching for a place where authenticity reigns supreme, where the gin is always perfect, and the chicken sandwich becomes a craving you can't ignore, look no further than Whiskey River Bar & Grill. “Been many times. Keep coming back. Great waiter. Small kale and spinach salad. Can vary from time to time depending on when you go, i.e., kale not soft enough, not enough dressing, pepitas, etc. but this time..exquisite, salty, garlicky, lemony, texture of kale perfect. Entree-Branzino:light, flaky, flavorful, perfect preparation. Creamed spinach as it should be. So full. Birthday-took slice of flourless chocolate cake home complementary. Wonderful! Always go back here even when I say I want to try something else!“

“I have no idea why I've not visited this place before now as I grew up in the area, my father had an office nearby, but we never ate here. And that was a very foolish misstep as Valley Lodge was really, really good. We were a party of six and thankfully had a reservation for a Sunday evening. It was early, 5:30pm, and we felt that we were eating with all the old biddies at that hour, but lo and behold, they weren't all old biddies. People of all ages and families were there and the bar on the slightly upper level was packed. Though, it's a small bar, but nonetheless, it was packed. It was packed when we arrived at 5:30pm and it was packed when we left at 8:30pm. The tables were pretty close together, but not overly so. It was all old wood paneling but felt updated. Think and updated ski lodge for reference. There was a fire in the fireplace which kept the room warm and cozy. We got your basic drinks, Diet Coke, iced tea and waters all around. They brought Italian bread and special Irish soda bread as it was St. Patrick's Day. The bread (I had the Irish soda bread) was delicious. Kudos to them if they made their own. We ordered a starter of the truffle fries. They were skinny fries with a little cheese and truffle oil and a side of a mustard alioli, which was pretty good. Three people ordered their cheeseburger salads. It's basically a salad with a cheeseburger on in. One of the three got a turkey burger in the salad. It's what you think...a cheeseburger (sans bun) on top of a salad. I think it came with a mustard vinaigrette, but you can get whatever dressing you like. All three said it was very good and the server said it's a best seller. The salads were pretty big and the vegetables looked crisp and fresh. Two of the people in our party got the Saganaki Burger. It's their basic burger with saganaki cheese in a pita. They definitely lit the cheese up in the kitchen and then put it out and served it in the pita. I got their Wagyu Burger from Australia. It was really good. I got mine with American cheese and cooked medium, It was perfectly cooked and I rounded it out with dark rye for the bun. I asked for mustard, but the flavor of the meat mixed with the American cheese, crisp lettuce and dark rye made the burger perfect without the condiment. The burgers (not salads) come with a side of fries, chips, and something else, but I forget. I got the fries thinking they were the frites from the starter menu and they weren't. They were typical fries. They were okay. but if you're coming here, it ain't for the side of fries, it's for the succulent burgers. There are many different options for burgers on their menu plus a myriad of other options that also looked quite tasty as evidenced by the orders brought to other tables. This is a must try at least once, but I bet you'll like it so much that you'll definitely be back and be back sooner rather than later. I know I'll be back soon.“

“I do like Culver’s fish sandwich. My sister went to pick up 3 sandwiches for my dad, myself and my sister. When she got home I put my hand in the bag to get sandwich out and felt something warm and in just a wrapper was my fish without a bun. I felt like I was in a horror movie about to unwrap a warm heart or something. Who was the dipshit that did that? My sister always ask for a hamburger bun because I do not like the thick bun the fish comes with. To all workers at Culver’s please pay attention when an order is placed.“
