“Shivers is an amazing local staple, I have never had a bad experience here. My personal favorite items are the Italian cream sodas, the cows (specifically root beer), and of course the concretes (I like vanilla with marshmallow fluff, banana, and sprinkles.)“

“The Best Smoked Meat Around!! Every Friday my husband and I make a trip from Spanish Lake and come see Jared at Dam-it-Joe’s. I know that every time, no matter what I order, it’s on key and so f’@k!n delicious!! My favorite ? I recommend that you come back and try everything they have to offer! “I was working nearby and could smell the cooking from We’re Outside from down the street and stopped to get some after work.I got the ribs- Hands down best bbq I have ever had! And the best green beans! The staff is friendly and gracious and the seating area is welcoming and clean.I would make the 45 minute drive from my house to get food here in a heartbeat next time I’m in the mood for bbq.“

“Nice clean and friendly environment, with a great view of the bridge. Only two trucks present on Saturday light, but good food offerings, and one of the best bars and "mixologists" in town! Lots of people inside and out enjoying the rare beautiful summer evening, perfect temperature, comfortable Adirondack chairs, and great music presented by the Buzz Tones! They sounded great! What a wonderful downtown Alton "date night" experience with my wife!!!“

“The food is delicious - full of flavor and really great. The staff is wonderful, but don't be on a rush! The Brown Bag Bistro is almost always super busy (for good reason - it's that great), and each sandwich, salad & dish is prepared when ordered, so it takes some time. Inside is quaint for eating in - but it gets a little crowded. The multi-level outdoor patio has plenty of seating and a wonderful, relaxing ambiance. The only reason for 4 stars is that the wait times can sometimes just be too long for me (I get hangry easily) - but the food is 5+ stars for sure!!“
