“Wonderful local breakfast and lunch joint. Fabulous service, many breakfast and lunch options, generous portions (e.g. thick omelette takes up half the plate, freshly grated hash browns take-up the other half, plus a bread option: toast, pancakes, English muffin, etc.). Daily specials include some classic as well as creative options (apples in an omelette? Crazy. Crazy delicious).“

“Delighted to discover that the Gingko Restaurant is open in the evening for Illumination (holiday lights) events. After experiencing the light displays, we stopped for a meal.So many vegan and vegetarian choices on the menu. Other museums and venues could take a lesson from this! We ordered and enjoyed the Korean Stirfry. It was a little salty for me, but ample portions and reasonable prices. Served piping hot. Hot cider was delicious.Lots of seating in the clean dining area, including seats by the expansive windows overlooking the lights for the Illumination finale. That was a treat and a fun way to wrap up the evening. Our only issues were customer service focused. We had to ask for napkins and were given just two for meals that have a fair amount of juice. Also, we paid for my husband to have roasted vegetables added to his entree, but it looked just like mine in portion size. When I asked the server, he said he didn't know. No offer to check or to make it right. We were tired, so didn't press the point. But they will lose customers if this is a pattern.Note: As with most museums and cultural centers, the food venues are run by a different company, not by the Arboretum.Vegetarian options: Multiple choices for vegetarians and vegans, including hot sandwiches and entrees.“
“The definition of a mom and pop shop. Classic theming and it’s clean. Yes a bit outdated but I didn’t hesitate to chow down. I had the tuna melt, classic presentation and taste. I also had mozzarella sticks which also tasted like traditional mozzarella sticks. Food is simple and heart warming nothing feels heavy or oily.“
“Owner forced the new kareoke DJ to close early due to lack of people. It was his only second time there. Completely unnecessary.Update: Changing my review to reflect what I think about the place overall. Still not happy that the DJ had to close before 11 as advertised, but overall I have enjoyed my time there. Big plus for staying open late, friendly and attentive bartenders, and really good food.“
“This is not your typical Chicago style hot dog. This place is art! Yet at the same time: amazing fries, affordable prices, fast and friendly service. Everything a hot dog stand should have and the selections are super creative and delicious. I recommend looking at the menu online ahead of time so you can see what the special is this week. But good luck making the decision!“
