“As a lover of Fried chicken and good conversation, I went to Giant city and got both in Spades.I was honored to get to speak with the owner and he shared his culinary philosophy, his love of food and the history of the building. I was impressed with the food, the service, and the "at home "environment that this place exudes.GREAT PLACE, GREAT PEOPLE“

“There were 3 of us. We were the only patrons for a while then another table came in. They had a buffet that evening with a salad bar. The food was very good. 2 kinds of meat, mashed potatoes, 2 kinds of gravy, green beans, corn, and salad bar. We had cobbler and pie for dessert.Usually when we go there, the place is busy. Price was very good. Breakfast is available all day.Parking: Parking lot just outside the door. Plenty of parking.Wheelchair accessibility: Tables were spaced well enough that a wheelchair could be used. Doors were average width.“

“Amazing space to dine. Very fine. Best of the best in Carbondale. Best beer selection and best food in southern Illinois. Southern Illinois and the Midwest region of the country is lucky to have such a talented owner/chef and staff at their doorstep.“

“I have visited here four times and it has always been an enjoyable experience. Lately, the service is a bit lacking, but that may be residual from the covid lockdown.They are missing some wines they used to have that I loved, which they did not replace with anything similar.The tables are very close together so that you are obligated to talk to your neighbors- perhaps that is part of the ambiance? However, people have to move their tables over to let others move from their seats when they go to the bathroom or leave for the evening. It seems excessive. The prices are high enough that they could remove some seats for their visitors to be comfortable.“

“The food order was correct. The service was not the best. Asked for ranch instead of BBQ sauce or horseradish for my roast beef sandwich.. She said it would be .35 cents. I was not getting the other two sauces. She got manager. Manager said I needed to get one of those sauces. There was no way the computer would let me have ranch. And she is a manager?? She did end up letting me get ranch after I told her to just take my meal off ticket.“

“First off I'd like to say the service was amazing. 2 guys were holding down the swarm of customers in line they were cooking handing out food and answering the phone. I watched them hand out at least 15 meals in a short manner of time. My expectations were 100000% met when I got this burger it was juicy but crunchy and every ingredient was fresh. Especially being from Chicago it's hard to find good quality food around here. This is my new favorite restaurant in Carbondale.“

The food was awesome and customer service is exactly what it was supposed to stay throughout time as customer service the employee made sure everything was the way it was supposed to be and that everything was made right refills where done right on time. “They have some awesome tasting food and healthy options, that a lone will make me go back. LOVE the Paleo salad had it twice once the steak was way too tough but the 2nd time was great. Came in for Prime Rib and my waiter Robert was awesome attentive he connected with you, was Personal and funny all of which i appreciate!
