“Strictly a takeout location but I got the lunch special orange chicken. It came with rice ( a choice of white or chicken fried rice) and an egg roll. It was less than $10 for a big portion. The orange chicken sauce was delicious and chicken was crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. Quick service, my food was ready in about 10 minutes.“

“Food is fresh and excellent. I find it to be one of the best in the area. Non greasy, good flavor, service is ok, but when they attend to you, you have their undivided attention. I have been there a few times, and it does not vary. It is also very clean, with large tables and booths.“

“I've visited this location several times over the past few years, and my experiences have generally been positive. One recurring issue has been the long wait times during busy hours, with waits sometimes stretching close to two hours before being seated. Even so, we kept coming back because it's conveniently located near our home, and we always enjoyed the variety of food on the menu.

When we visited again yesterday afternoon, we were happy to see there wasn't a wait, and we were seated almost immediately. Everything seemed to be going well, and the service was friendly as usual. Unfortunately, after getting home, I started feeling sick, and by today my stomach has been bothering me constantly. Based on how quickly the symptoms appeared, I believe I may have gotten food poisoning from something I ate during the visit. I can't say for certain which menu item caused the problem, but I know I felt perfectly fine beforehand.

This experience was really disappointing because we've supported this restaurant for a long time. The meal itself tasted normal, so the illness came as a complete surprise. I hope this was just an isolated incident and not something that happens regularly. I understand that mistakes can happen in any restaurant, but getting sick after eating is difficult to overlook. The location has always been convenient, and we've had many enjoyable meals here in the past. The atmosphere has generally been pleasant, and the staff has usually treated us well. That's what makes this experience even more unfortunate. At this point, we've decided that we won't be returning. I truly hope the restaurant reviews its food safety practices so that other customers don't have a similar experience.“

“Been eating from here a while now. At the beginning the food was always good but lately the food has been off, lack of favor. Tastes watered down. I can only speak for the fried rice because thats what I mainly order. Not sure if they have a new chef or what. But please bring back the favor.“

“This is the second time we've ordered from here, and the food tastes great.
We ordered KUNG BAO DELIGHT, and it was very tasty, and the portion was very large.
We also ordered COMBINATION FRIED RICE, and it tasted great, but I asked to make spicy, and they didn't prepare it properly.
We also ordered EGG ROLLS, and they were delicious and a good size, but the CRAB RAGOONS were good, but a little over-fried.

“This is my Moms go to place for her Chinese food n delivery to Sr.Suites of Midway..I've tried it many times w/ my mom.. So I decided that's where I wanted to go. Never judge a book by its cover.. The lady was super sweet n helpful,helping me with my order..with my total order was 25.00 nothing compared to my other places..I was really happy that she recommended I try Veggie Egg Foo Yung,boy was I satisfied. “okay I am looking at the other reviews and the only thing that is a lie is large portions! there is no large portion! this is probably the smallest lunch special that cost close to $15 that I've ever had at any Chinese restaurant ever. you can go to a buffet and get all you can eat for $15. definitely a sample plate or portion for a child. “This was my first time trying this place, and it did not disappoint! I ordered the dinner special with general tso’s chicken, and it was amazing!! I’m usually picky with chicken but this one was made so well, and the fried rice was perfect. I requested no egg in the fried rice and a vegetable egg roll, and they were so kind and considerate to not only honor my requests but label them too!! I was worried about this because not every place is careful enough, and it can ruin your whole meal when not done right but this place did. The food was delicious, piping hot (even though my DoorDash driver had to make multiple stops before mine!), and an amazing value for the amount of food you get. The Thai iced tea was the cherry on top! 10/10 thank you for a perfect comfort meal after a long day“

The service was excellent - I was greeted by two ladies who made sure I was attended promptly from the moment I walked in. The food was fresh and ready to go within 10 minutes of ordering. If you're looking for a Chinese restaurant that treats its customers right, then this is the place to go.“

Only gripe is with online ordering, you can't ask to omit anything—i.e, can't ask for no mushrooms or a specific ingredient—but that's a small thing that otherwise doesn't heavily impact the experience.“

Only two dings is 1) why the $1.00 convenience fee 2) use less sodium in the egg foo young. Will definitely be back but get rid of the annoying convenience fee.“

“I always enjoy ordering from Grand Chinese. Workers are always courteous and the food is always delicious. I used to go to Hoe Toy on Stony Island but the original owners sold it I believe and the food wasn't the same. I found out about Grand Chinese and now they are my go to spot for Chinese food.“

“I ordered a small veggie fried rice. It was good but the container is SUPER small and the price is a bit high $10.50. I know groceries prices are outrageous but rice, 🥕 and 🍄 are still pretty cheap. Green peppers are on the expensive side if not on sale but there wasn't enough peppers to justify the cost. Thats my opinion.“

We get the chicken chop suey, combo lo mein, mushroom or ham egg foo young. The egg rolls are good and the wonton soup is a fave when I'm sick!

Baby when I tell you they dinner and lunch plates are enormous you can eat on it for couple of days! I was blown away how fresh and delicious it tasted no disappointment. “We have been looking for a decent place for Chinese food where you can actually sit down and enjoy your food. The staff were all friendly. Decent menu to choose from. Food came out quickly and was good. We had the vegetable soup, egg drop soup, egg rolls, crab Rangoon, beef and broccoli, and the Mongolian beef. My drink was good, but it didn't taste like there was any alcohol in it. They also have tea when you come in. I placed an order to go and told them to make it spicy, but apparently, they missed that part, still a decent place, and we will definitely come back again.“

“We were on our way home from a Labor Day road trip and looking for something to carry out for dinner. We were passing through the neighborhood and had read some decent, if not exactly glowing, reviews for this place, so we decided to give it a try.

Parking was easy—we found a spot right in front—and there was a steady trickle of people going in. The dining room isn’t currently open, but there’s a takeout window. We ordered the ribs, shrimp fried rice and egg roll combo, along with beef with broccoli and another egg roll.

The phone was ringing, another customer came in, and things seemed pretty busy. We were told to come back in about 20 minutes. While we waited, we walked over to the nearby supermercado/carniceria/taqueria and grabbed some tacos too. When we returned, there were several more customers waiting, along with a delivery driver picking up an order. It ended up taking a little longer than 20 minutes, but we didn’t mind. The place was clearly busy, which I always take as a good sign.

As for the food, it was only average. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. That said, we were perfectly okay with it. It’s surprisingly hard to find reasonably priced, no-frills Chinese takeout in Chicago, and sometimes that’s exactly what you’re looking for.

Not a destination-worthy meal, but a solid neighborhood option when you want inexpensive Chinese takeout without any fuss.“

It was sooo much food; I had 2 plates worth to get my fill while my wife had 1. The owner ran outside to my van to see my kids and my husband because she remembers us as 19/20 year olds dating. She serves the best crab Rangoon and told us told us to order from the party trays to make sure our kids are fed. Very lovely lady and great food.“
