“The spanakopita was the best I've ever had anywhere in the US. Filling was cheesy and delicious, crust was flaky and fresh. Serving size was generous.Vegetarian options: Usual Greek vegetarian selection. Many options including salads, falafel, hummus, other dips, etc.“
“This place is special in a way that would almost makes me want to keep it a well-guarded secret. You don't really get this experience anymore, it takes a confluence of passion and community that's hard to come by in any era, let alone the modern, distanced, impersonal world we occupy now. This is the quintessential Chicago Mom n' Pop experience. Great food at ridiculously good prices served up with a smile and a friendly familiarity that makes you feel like you're right at home. The decor matches the patrons: humble, comfortable, working-class Americana and unapologetically Chicagoan to the core. You can tell most of the customers here are patrons for life, and with good reason. You always feel like a person here, not an order. They aren't just trying to turn over your ticket, they want to make sure you're taken care of.I can't tell you the last time I had perfect fries before this, like too-hot-to-eat, immaculate golden brown fries. I definitely can't recall ever getting them with a whole burger for under $7. I fed two hungry adults here for less than $20. It felt absurd, almost, like I wanted to pay more because it felt unfair to them that I'd pay twice that much at a lot of places.Just a positively perfect experience every time and we always make it a point to stop here anytime we're remotely close by.“
“Visiting from Indiana for training and decided to get Greek for dinner.....man o man o man.....was this a fantastic choice! When I pulled up, it was free valet parking and I was a little confused because I didn't anticipate it being that type of fine dining experience but I was wrong. We arrived at 6ish on Tuesday and let me say we beat the crowd. Within 20 minutes of our arrival, there was a wait for seating. As an appetizer we ordered the Flaming Cheese (Saganaki) And it was phenomenal. They automatically give you a platter of toasted bread and it was the perfect accompaniment.I ordered the chicken kebab meal which came with a soup and my choice of side. I chose the lemon chicken soup and greek potatoes...my tummy was in agreement with my choices. My friend ordered the Moussuka and it was a large portion that also came with soup and choice of side...she chose the mixed veggies and they were truly delicious. We tried the dandelion greens because neither of us had had them before. They weren't my fav but my friend loved them. This was simply a matter of preference nothing more nothing less.My friend got a baklava to go because we were too full for dessert at that moment. The portions are healthy, service was top notch and the food was obviously quality ingredients. There is something for everyone on this menu!“
“LOVE NICKS! Great service, family owned, upbeat & inviting staff ? good energy all around, you can feel the mutual respect amongst the ranks & I love that. Happy employees = happy customers WHO COME BACK. *Nicks drive in* is the perfect example of this & my family always runs it back?NOW... FOOD? Nick's is known for their HOME-MADE GYROS & they are delicious by ALL accounts!! If you like gyros, you will LOVE theirs! Nicks makes burgers, hotdogs, mozzarella sticks, chili, popcorn shrimp, shakes & many more options, kids meals etc. Sit down & stay a while or drive-inn & drive out.I've been coming to nicks since I was a little girl getting lunch with my grandpa or grandma. Saturday night dinner out with dad. I think I may have even had a birthday party at Nick's in the mid 90s. Nick's is family. Iykyk & if you don't know.. GO FIND OUT.Yesterday I called in a pick up order& forgot my brother's milkshake on the counter. & instead of getting all the way home & changed out of my 'heavy snow storm--triple layered clothing' only to realize my mistake.. You're welome ✨️?Parking: Alot of space to park unnless it's busy. NBut it's quickKid-friendliness: Alot of space for kids to be kids“
“Perfect Chicago style fast food joint! Gyro was excellent. Good portions at a fair price! First time visitor and very happy I have found my new go to for great meal! Can't wait to try other offerings. Definitely a must try if you are looking for a good meal!!!Parking: Easier to get in and out parking lot than it looks.“
“I've worked in Morton Grove for 26 years and we have patronized this location often and have always found the food to be consistently great and the service to be Timely and I'm actually on my way there this now! Highly recommend. The Greek gyros are phenomenal and I also love the American Style. Stop by if you're in the area you'll be glad you did“
“Every dish we ordered so far ????? . The grilled octopus is always our favorite here, perfectly chargrilled, tender sauce is not overpowering. This restaurant has such a cute, comfortable ambience for date night or family gatherings.“
“BYG appears to be back to the ways they were before the pandemic of 2020. Their portions are generous again as before I felt there was major cutbacks in quality and quantity due to businesses suffering due to Covid. Loved the pork kebab (Souvlaki), tzatziki sauce along with the Greek potatoes and rice pilaf.“
“They never miss to make great food in here, Italian beef is fire, and burgers are made well and placed perfectly. Whatever they are doing back there they are doing right. Only complaint would be the blond muscular gentleman seems to always have an attitude. If he sees this all I gotta say is chill out broski it will be alright ?“
“Y’all need to visit Taverna Naxos in Wilmette and have an Aphrodite‘s Kiss made by Rosanna. It’s their Greek version of an Old Fashioned and is truly fantastic. Follow that up with the Baby Back Ribs (no bbq sauce in sight or needed) and you’ll be anxious to return. Say hi to Naxos’s manager, Suzanne, who will make sure you enjoy your visit.“
“This is the best Greek village salad I’ve ever had. This is my favorite type of salad and usually the only type of salad I will eat. I got it from here a few weeks ago and have been thinking about it ever since….so glad I went back for it again today - YUM!!Their marinated meats for the grill are also delicious!!“
“They give you nice fat chunks of gyro meat here, it's excellent. My wife and I had a Chicago dog, pizza puff, bomber special, onion rings, Oreo shake. Everything was very good and the prices were fine. Bomber Special and Pizza Puff were my faves. Great dive vibes; it's a tiny 8-stool bar with a little TV in the corner. Playing tennis when I went (hell yeah)The gyro meat was chunky and had a good bite, and with BBQ sauce on the bomber special it was insane. The onion rings are breaded and I personally prefer battered, but the breading was even and fried well, and the inside was all beautiful stringy onions. Pizza puff was fantastic, great cheese and sauce ratio and really satisfying bites all the way through.Chicago dog was good, they use a poppyseed bun (I'm sick of going to spots with regular buns, this is a real dog) except I think the sports peppers were a little heavy. Tomatoes were a little light, but I prefer that. Oreo shake was excellent, it was creamy and a little icey in a good wayThe guy was really nice too. He was great at interacting with the customers that were interested and laying off the ones just trying to enjoy their food. 10/10 spot“
“Been a customer since 1978 when it opened. There have been a few changes in ownership over the last 10 years, but the food quality has come back to an excellent level again. Love the gyros. The meat, the bread and how it’s cooked, and the sauce are amazing. But their gyros are not the only food they serve. Make a trip . It’s worth it.“
“This is a place that the entire community appreciates. I commend small businesses like this for keeping their commitment to being a wonderful local option for Wilmette and the surrounding neighborhoods. However, I do wish that they had at least a few vegan entree options. If they did, people like me would visit more often to eat instead of just having to settle with a tea and fruit.“
“Great clean restaurant! I've been coming here for years and they're consistent... food, service, cleanliness. Food tastes fresh and is offered quickly. I often order the gyro dinner but the Greek chicken is legit! There's easy and plenty parking. Staff is very attentive and ALWAYS cleaning the tables/ floors/ bathrooms, etc. If you're in the area, you can count on a great meal and time at Dengeos.Parking: Large safe and well lit lot.“
“This is my favorite Greek restaurant in the country and one of my top 3 go-to places in the NW Chicago suburbs. The service is friendly and very attentive, and the food is beyond amazing. Do yourself a favor and order the "flaming cheese" -- a lot of it! Opa!“
“This place is awesome! We had lunch there today and my husband and I both had the Italian beef sandwich and we split fries. It was so yummy!! The food is great, and the sandwiches were huge! The owner could not be more pleasant and we would highly recommend this place!!“
“Went for a late afternoon family birthday dinner. The menu selection, food quality, authenticity, ambiance were all second to none. I recommend the Yemista (stuffed peppers and tomatoes filled with beef and rice) served with Greek potatoes and veggies. Other family members had the Dolmades, Pastitsio, and Makaronada, all of which were mouth watering and done right! Avgolemono was glorious, and the Saganaki was awesome, spot on-not dry or too salty. Portions are generous and yet dont leave you stuffed but satisfied. It felt like we were in Greece. OPAA! You must eat here! Bravo Dimitri's and all the staff, σας ευχαριστούμε!“
“This past mid September was the very first time trying this place and I'm glad I did. I'm a bit of a Gyros junkie so stumbling onto the name on Google maps caught my attention. My family & I were wandering around Old Orchard before coming here but I'm not familiar with any restaurants within the mall that serve up Gyros or at least I haven't heard of any popular name that's known for their Gyros there.Told my wife I've got that craving and wanna go exploring. Grecian Kitchen sounded just dandy and also in town not all that far from the mall and I always try my best to support local.I know besides actual Greek restaurants that there are hundreds of Chicago/Greek grills that many people would claim "MEH, they're all the same!". Not always the case for me and GK boasts a great menu with really good food and especially the Gyros.I've had my fair share of places that have served up some bland & boring Gyros before and never to return. Gyros here are excellent; meat is soft & moist, well seasoned and not too salty.Prices are still reasonable amidst the pandemic, nationwide inflation and the minimum wage hike. Clean dining room with outdoor seating as well with friendly customer service. We live up in Beach Park in between Wadsworth and Waukegan so not sure when I'll get back down here but if my wife ever wants to browse Nordstrom which Old Orchard is the closest to our house then I'll have to make room for some savory Gyros.I wish a prosperous & successful future for the owner(s) and decades of boomin' business to come their way.“
“The food was pretty good. I got Buffalo wings, and they were better than quite a few others that focus on wings. Plus, the size of the wings was nice. They staff were very nice, especially for my first time.Very simplistic appearance. But, clean!Parking: There is not a lot of parking close by. I had to park in a nearby roadside spot.“
“I went to this restaurant with family on 11/13 2023. We got outdoor seating and they were able to put tables together and seat us very fast. The service always had smiles on their faces and were all around very pleasant. The view was amazing, right next to the water. There was a bit of a wait for the food (which is expected for the large group we had) but they had live music and just such a great atmosphere. The food was 10/10 meeting and beating all of our expectations. Some dishes were a little pricey but not bad for the amount of food we were given and for the quality of food it was.“
“Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! Probably visited here last in the 2010s but still the same classic joint interior-wise and food-wise. Top 5 Gyros and Chicken Gyros spots in the Chicagoland suburban area in my opinion. Ordered their Chicken Gyros sandwich as well as a side of Oven-baked Greek Potatoes (pictured here). So much gyros meat and the potatoes are perfectly baked and soaked in broth. Not going to wait years for my next visit.“
“My daughter had a dance recital that ended late and we needed someplace open. I had always wanted to try Hubs but never had the chance. My wife had the burger which had an excellent char and my sun and I shared the ribs and wings special. It was great. Was it the best no. Was it fine dining heck no did it fit the bill heck ya. The tzatziki was a stand out for sure. We will be back.“
“I stopped in for a quick bite on my way to the dentist. They still serve the American usual hot dog Polish burgers tenders stuff like that. The Chicken shawarma wrap was absolutely amazing with veggies. I'm sure the falafel is awesome as well I'll be back soon.“
“First time here with my hunny. It's a cute place! I love the 50's diner look ? I got some hot wings & my hunny got a gyro(?) He was a lil disappointed with the size, but I really liked my wings ? prices aren't bad either! Will def go back.“
“A nice local place. Good food, lot's of choices, always quick, and reasonable prices.Vegetarian options: Not a vegetarian place per se. But the choice variety is wide enough that a vegetarian like my mother can easily put together a good meal.Kid-friendliness: No playland but food is delivered quickly, and that helps with kids.Wheelchair accessibility: All ground floor, wide doors and wide aislebetween tables. So wheelchairs should have minimal dificulty.“
“Was really good. Loved the cashier such a kind person wish all cashier hosts were like her. Please give her a raise I not sure of her name but I know she has a beautiful husky named Shelly!! We will be back for sure great dinner worth every dime hats off to the chefs delicious ? damit give them all a raise!!!Parking: Enough spaces!!“
“Dengeos is our family's go-to spot for a great dinner at a fair price, never failing to impress us with their delicious offerings. I am an absolute sucker for their Greek chicken dinner, especially the Greek potatoes, which are always perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The portions are generous, the service is friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Every visit to Dengeos leaves us satisfied and looking forward to our next meal there. Five stars for consistently delivering quality and value!“
“Local spot. Great flavorful salads with lots of ingredients and delicious dressings. Great for dinner, lunch, and catering for large groups. Kids love the chicken nuggets and we love the burgers. Our go to quick and fresh meal spot.Kid-friendliness: Lots of great choices for kids.“
