“The food, drinks, service and recommendations were excellent. We were celebrating a birthday, and everything from the Oaxacan tlayuda to the Cornish hen with mole and the margaritas made with mezcal from the owners’ hometown in Oaxaca made for a great meal.“

“We went to Zentli on a Sunday evening. The ambience was welcoming and the waitstaff friendly and helpful. We ordered vegan food which was fresh, delicious and filling. My husband thought the Zentli Salad was excellent. We both had tacos (Nopales, zetas and verduras). We shared the vegan dessert, plantains with a vegan caramel cream sauce, which was quite tasty. We will return , perhaps for a weekend brunch.“

“Pollo Express has become my new obsession. I’m there 2-3 per week. I love the Chicken Burrito and the mixed Burrito— Burritos have Jalapeño in them FYI— which can be optional, if you let them know. The burrito I get the Charro beans and the Mexican rice. The Flautas are delicious— consider adding refried beans on top. I love the chicken with a side of rice and beans, as well. Their desserts are tasty too. The staff is super friendly and eager to explain things, and they love being part of the neighborhood. I love that Smokey salsa they have too. I put it on everything!“

“Simply AMAZING! Ochoa’s is easily one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area. We recently used them for catering (25 people), and everything exceeded our expectations. Communication was top-notch, portions were huge, and the food was incredible. Guests couldn’t stop talking about the juicy chicken and steak, the homemade chips and salsas, and guacamole that could honestly be eaten by the spoonful. Mr. Ochoa truly takes pride in his food — you can taste the love in every bite. Highly recommend for both dining in and catering!“

“Really nice hole in the wall place. Good bang for your buck. It's really hard to beat Chorizo pound for pound in flavor. They have a good variety of meats for tacos, burritos, and tortas. It doesn't look like they have any non meat options for meat substitutes. Everything is cooked fresh and served to your table if you can find an open one. Fortunately for us it wasn't really packed on a Sunday afternoon. Personally, the Chorizo tortas is the most worth it. The table sauces are pretty good, the red on tastes like chili and paprika and the green one is just tomatillo.

“Last week I was on my way to take my son for a haircut and decided to stop and eat here. It was my first time. Service was great and food delicious. I was not having a good day but tried my best to not show it. As I'm eating I saw a man come in. Eat by himself and then left. My surprise when I went to go pay. This man had paid for my food. Who ever it was Thank you so much if this is ever read. That was a beautiful gesture and completely made my day. I got my son his haircut and took him for some ice cream afterwards. “I don't think I have seen that many torta options anywhere else (27!). They even have photos of every one lined up on the wall, which makes choosing a little easier. I kept it simple with the asada torta. We had some complimentary chips and refried beans to start. It was easily the best beans I have had in a while. The torta, which was already huge, came with rice and more refried bean. Flavorful, juicy carne asada and veggies were loaded between nicely toasted bread. I actually love how the bread was just thick enough to be enjoyed while not taking away from the meat. If I am being picky, the meat was a touch undersalted for my taste but there was a salt shaker on every table so it was an easy fix. Both salsas were great.“

“Ever since our former far north side Mexican go-to restaurant had a fire and reopened without the same quality of food we used to love, my partner and I have been looking for a new delivery and eat-in joint. We love how awesome the universe of Mexican food is here in Chicago but a lot of the eateries on the far north side are just kind of meh. Nobody deserves to eat meh Mexican food in Chicago, ever. It took us a year and a half to finally find Taqueria El Charro and we’re completely blown away. I’ve lived in Chicago for 21 years and he’s lived in Chicago almost as long. I used to teach English in Pilsen. Once I had a chance to move back home to New York City and I sat in a Chicago Mexican restaurant at 18th and Ashland and cried because I didn’t want to leave Chicago Mexican food behind. So, this place has some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten here in my adopted hometown. I don’t say that lightly. You don’t kid around with Mexican food in Chicago. I cannot emphasize how quietly awesome this place is.“

I came here off of a recommendation as to who has the most flavorful Carne Asada tacos and they didn’t disappoint. With the taco dinner get two tacos as opposed to the three other places, but it’s really good and the staff was friendly.
