“The food, drinks, service and recommendations were excellent. We were celebrating a birthday, and everything from the Oaxacan tlayuda to the Cornish hen with mole and the margaritas made with mezcal from the owners’ hometown in Oaxaca made for a great meal.“

“We went to Zentli on a Sunday evening. The ambience was welcoming and the waitstaff friendly and helpful. We ordered vegan food which was fresh, delicious and filling. My husband thought the Zentli Salad was excellent. We both had tacos (Nopales, zetas and verduras). We shared the vegan dessert, plantains with a vegan caramel cream sauce, which was quite tasty. We will return , perhaps for a weekend brunch.“

“Pollo Express has become my new obsession. I’m there 2-3 per week. I love the Chicken Burrito and the mixed Burrito— Burritos have Jalapeño in them FYI— which can be optional, if you let them know. The burrito I get the Charro beans and the Mexican rice. The Flautas are delicious— consider adding refried beans on top. I love the chicken with a side of rice and beans, as well. Their desserts are tasty too. The staff is super friendly and eager to explain things, and they love being part of the neighborhood. I love that Smokey salsa they have too. I put it on everything!“

Communication was top-notch, portions were huge, and the food was incredible. Guests couldn’t stop talking about the juicy chicken and steak, the homemade chips and salsas, and guacamole that could honestly be eaten by the spoonful. “Taco Verde is hands down one of our favorite spots for amazing halal tacos! The quality and flavor are consistently outstanding. We absolutely love their Birria Tacos — perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with rich, authentic flavor.

Their Birria Pizza Tacos are a must-try as well. Such a creative twist, loaded with flavor and cooked to perfection. Every bite is satisfying.

“Ever since our former far north side Mexican go-to restaurant had a fire and reopened without the same quality of food we used to love, my partner and I have been looking for a new delivery and eat-in joint. We love how awesome the universe of Mexican food is here in Chicago but a lot of the eateries on the far north side are just kind of meh. Nobody deserves to eat meh Mexican food in Chicago, ever. It took us a year and a half to finally find Taqueria El Charro and we’re completely blown away. I’ve lived in Chicago for 21 years and he’s lived in Chicago almost as long. I used to teach English in Pilsen. Once I had a chance to move back home to New York City and I sat in a Chicago Mexican restaurant at 18th and Ashland and cried because I didn’t want to leave Chicago Mexican food behind. So, this place has some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten here in my adopted hometown. I don’t say that lightly. You don’t kid around with Mexican food in Chicago. I cannot emphasize how quietly awesome this place is.“

“Last week I was on my way to take my son for a haircut and decided to stop and eat here. It was my first time. Service was great and food delicious. I was not having a good day but tried my best to not show it. As I'm eating I saw a man come in. Eat by himself and then left. My surprise when I went to go pay. This man had paid for my food. Who ever it was Thank you so much if this is ever read. That was a beautiful gesture and completely made my day. I got my son his haircut and took him for some ice cream afterwards. “I got the chicken mole torta and a taco Al pastor. My wife got a torta Al pastor and a taco carne asada. Everything was so good - the carne asada had perfect crunchy bits, the teleras had a perfect consistency for sturdy but soft sandwiches that held up with the crema and other juices from the fillings. Very generous portions on the tacos, so much that we both had to take half a torta home as leftovers. And everyone behind the counter was super friendly. I hope they’re proud of their restaurant.“

“We drove all the way from downtown just to get tacos from Aztlan Taqueria and it was 100% worth it. The steak tacos are some of the best we’ve ever had. The meat was perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with flavor. Both the flour and corn tortillas tasted incredibly fresh, like they were just made. The salsa was delicious and clearly homemade bright, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the tacos. And the guacamole? Absolutely perfect. No extra salt needed just fresh, balanced, and spot-on. On top of the amazing food, the staff is so nice and truly goes above and beyond. The service made the experience even better. Hands down, some of the best tacos around. We’ll gladly make the drive again! 🌮“

“I usually stop in here for a meal before I see a movie. The ingredients are SUPER fresh and delicious! I'm a fan of the nachos (be aware they are quite messy but so tasty) and the chicken bowl. There is ample seating inside and an outdoor area with patio furniture. You can order on the kiosk inside or with one of the folks working.“

“The best tacos and caldos in the area, with the friendliest staff. Every time I come in, to take out or eat in, the service is super fast while still being welcoming and friendly, and the tacos are perfect. Very generous portions (taco dinner is 3 tacos) with high quality meat. The cabeza is insanely tender and flavorful. The beans are perfectly seasoned and smooth -- the best I've had on the north side by far! It's impossible to say enough good things about this place. Definitely a gem in the neighborhood!“

“My family and I, first discovered Taqueria Hernandez in 2002 while living in Rogers Park. Shortly after, we moved away and hardly ever found ourselves in the area. Yesterday happened to be my first time visiting Taqueria Hernandez in 22 years and I found myself tasting the same quality tacos I had when I was 5 years old.

To put it blatantly, I want it to be known that in my close to 28 years of living, I have yet to find better tasting tacos de lengua anywhere else in the US.

Pictured below is my plate which consisted of: 1 taco de lengua, 1 torta de asada and 1 sope de asada.
