“We went to the Batavia location. The employees were so nice! Today was our second time coming last time I just grabbed a regular grilled cheese we came back today with my wife and son they asked if we got a punch card last time I said no he gave us one and punched it for our previous visit also! I didn’t even ask for that the guy working just did it! He was very nice to my son also asked if he had teeth (my sons under 2) and I said yes why and he gave him a couple apple slices free of charge while we waited for our takeout! “Loved Lima Fresca! We went on a Fri early eve and we’re able to get a table by the outside. The hostess was extremely nice and cheerful. Food was excellent and very reasonable! “Absolutely the best pizza I have ever had, hands down. But forget the pizza, the people working there are the best. We were in the area buying a car, we tried a slice, came back and got a full pizza a few moments later, my wife told them how she loved cheesecake and had to come back and try theirs, without hesitation, they went back inside and brought out to her a fresh slice of strawberry cheesecake, and even showed up the process in how they make it. I 1000000% can’t recommend them enough. Perfect pizza and even better people. I love them and we will back very often to get some great pizza but most importantly to see some amazing people.“

“J-Town Classic, if anyone is giving this place a lower than a 5 star..they’re a straight hattteeer. They’re always quick, I get everything I ordered. The parking lot can get a little crazy, but that just means everyone wants that MR SUB.“

“Pretty good for fast food and I prefer their breakfast over their lunch and dinner. I always get the 4 count Chick-n-Minis meal and order an extra 4 count. It’s expensive for a fast food breakfast. Wish they had an option for 4 or 8 count, it would probably make it a little more affordable. I would stop here for breakfast more often but $15.55 is expensive, considering it’s only fast food.

I could get a lot more food for the same price at a sit down breakfast restaurant but I guess that’s what you pay for convenience. I just need to give myself more time and not pay extra for fast and convenient.“

“Their Take and Bake items are a must for quick evening meals. My go-to choices are any of the Lasagnas, Sausage & Peppers, as well as Meatballs. I am also a fan of the pizza dough, which I use for homemade calzones and their shredded parmesan. This is my favorite place for all fresh Italian foods. Zeppe's has been my answer to meet my catering needs as well; 3 years in a row. This is the perfect local market.“

“Had a 5:45 pm reservation and had drinks and appetizers ordered straight away. Others reviews speak of an 8:20pm seating when they close at 9pm, then give the restaurant one star because they were rushed. That’s not fair. For us, we had a friendly and thorough server that was able to accommodate my dairy free requests and no rush. We started with the crab cake, which was excellent, but could have used more sauce than the fancy smear on the plate. The cocktails were ok. We had the Cuban and the basil mojito. In short, basil does not belong in a mojito and the Cuban was good but tiny portion size. The food was hot, fresh, good quality, and tasty. Reasonable portion sizes, especially for the fish! The braised beef was tender and flavorful, the skirt steak was a nice cut, nicely cooked, and paired well with the chimichurri. The fish was fresh and flaky and the beets tender and tasty. The deserts were equally as good as the meal. Overall a good experience, but spent $240 for two people.“

I might just make any reviews of other restaurants and venues as regular posts. If you like Chicago-style fast food, eat here. Expect $15 per person unless you just order one hotdog and a glass of water. Portillo's is a chain with 94 restaurants and "drive-through-only" locations spread throughout ten states. Their greatest concentration is in the Chicagoland area. Founded by Dick Portillo in 1963 as a hot-dog trailer parked in Villa Park Illinois, the restaurant grew steadily over the years. It’s now a publicly traded company, and Dick Portillo no longer plays an active role in day-to-day operations. All Portillo's locations are company owned, with no franchisees. Portillo's sells Chicago-style fast food. They serve Italian Beef, which I’m reviewing here. They also serve Chicago-style all beef hotdogs, Italian and Maxwell Street Polish sausage sandwiches, barbecued pork ribs, grilled and deep-fried fish and chicken sandwiches, pepper-and-egg sandwiches during Lent, chili, and even char-grilled hamburgers. They also sell Chicago-style tamales, but only in the Chicagoland area or "ship to home." The location reviewed here is at 1155 Brook Forest Ave., Shorewood IL. Their hours are 10 AM to 11:30 PM Sunday through Thursday, and 10 AM to Midnight Friday and Saturday. I visited the location in mid-evening on a Tuesday. The dining room was still roughly half occupied, and the double-column line for the drive through was still overflowing into the main parking lot. I've yet to see a Portillo's location not busy, but they might not be as popular outside of the Midwest. I ordered the "regular" Italian Beef wet with extra gravy on the side, sweet pepper garnish, small fries, and a fountain drink. Portillo's sells Coca-Cola products for fountain drinks. They are also famous for their milkshakes; particularly their "Chocolate Cake Shake." While it's incredibly good, it's exactly what it sounds like. Some, but not all Portillo's locations are licensed to sell beer and wine. The selection and availability vary by location. Italian Beef. The French Bread, like all bread products used by Portillo's was a Turano product. It was fresh, with just the right amount of toasting pre-service. The beef was perfectly sliced, very finely grained, and did not seem to have sat for an excessive period of time awaiting service. Portillo's gets their beef from Vienna Beef. However, they get it raw, and do their own seasoning, slow-roasting and slicing in their central commissary before repackaging and sending it to their restaurants. The French Bread Roll was properly filled with roast beef, not overflowing, but still quite full. The regular beef is more than enough for many diners. If you want more, the "Big Beef" sandwich is 50% larger. Both the regular and Big Beef sandwiches are also available as "combo" sandwiches with an appropriate length char-grilled Italian Sausage. The spice blend was properly Italianate, and at just the right strength to compliment the sandwich. When you eat this sandwich, you are eating Italian Beef, not "grandma's spice rack," or "store-brand-watery-Arby's." Gravy. Portillo's makes their own gravy while slow-roasting their beef. The gravy was a rich dark brown. Both the "au-jus" and the spices were in perfect balance, strength, and concentration. It was served properly hot. The flavor was perfect, with no hint of being scorched, burned, or overheated. The sauteed sweet peppers were cut "country style," which suited them well. The peppers were well sauteed, yet had enough slight to moderate firmness“
