“Sometimes you go to McDonalds and have low expectations cause the food is fast and usually tastes ok. Then sometimes you find a McDonalds where the food tastes so good it reminds you of being a kid and eating McDonalds for the first time and your eyes got real big. Cause the food was delicious. The fries are crispy and salty, the burger is juicy and the cheese melted perfectly to accent the meat. The onions have flavor and shape. The nuggets are somehow crunchy and fluffy at the same time. Well this is that diamond in the rough McDonalds. Glad I found one.“

“I’ve been to plenty of local coffee shops around Chicago and Sputnik is the absolute best. I stumbled upon this hidden gem a few years ago on my commute to work when they were on 51st. It’s been my almost daily stop since then. I’ve switched jobs a few months ago and a Sputnik pit stop adds an extra 20 min to my commute but it’s absolutely worth it.

I highly recommend a hot oat milk vanilla latte but anything you order will be amazing. They roast their own coffee, make their own flavored syrups, and they’ve done both right. The fresh pastries and growing food options have made Sputnik the best all around coffee shop. If you’re a coffee lover, DO NOT sleep on Sputnik.“

Not just pierogi ---Gelato, soups, empanadas, tamales, pizza pie (takes 50 mins to make from scratch and worth it!!) “Their breakfast options are under-advertised. Their egg sandwiches are some of the best I’ve tried in Chicago and their Bagels might be the best you can get outside of NYC.

The staff are exhibiting the perfect combination of friendly, courteous, and professional.

“the decor is awesome!! but my drink was a little disappointing. i ordered an iced latte with easy oat milk, add cherry & almond syrup. i didn’t taste any syrups at all, it just tasted like a regular latte with no modifications. for $8 i feel like i should’ve been able to taste the syrups but it was too late for me to go back to ask if they would remake it for me by the time i tried it.

EDIT: the owner made it right so i’m really appreciative! will be back! 💕“

“I went to the opening for October Café yesterday and had such a good time! The drinks are well made and quickly done. The food tastes delicious and is incredibly friendly to those with dietary restrictions. The staff are incredibly kind and well trained. Can't recommend this place enough!“

“Tried their flagship espresso (en masse) as a macchiato. Had some caramel notes and I was satisfied, but it was a bit too thin for milk, so just go for espresso. I also ordered their dark roast beans to make them at home, and they’re delicious.“

“Cozy is definitely a good word to describe this place. A small classic cafe with a fairly standard menu, the owner was very friendly and the space while small was very inviting.

Lots of decor themed around jazz & r&b and a few small tables to sit at. If you live nearby this is definitely a place you should consider trying.“

They have many unique creations, which was exciting. Maybe Warhol 2.0 was my favorite but a bit heavy, so next time I’ll get Warhol (1.0). Eraserhead was also interesting. The barista was very kind and friendly with us. He seemed to be happy and passionate about his work, which I respect and appreciate.“

“The owner is so welcoming, and let’s not even get started on the food! I had the chorizo and veggie skillet, and he was kind enough to let me try a bit of both. The coffee was amazing, too. My friend ordered the poblano crepe (of course I had to taste it), and that was absolutely delicious as well! Like he said, “when you go there, he wants it to be more than just good food …he wants it to be an experience”, and he truly delivers!“
