“I've passed this restaurant multiple times to and from work for weeks. I'm so so glad I finally stopped in. Tamales were delicious. Jalapeno and cheese ones are my all time favorite. So many options to choose from. The owner was so wonderful and made you feel at home. Amazing artwork for sale as well!“

“I came here spontaneously after driving past it for years. I ordered the taco dinner (2 steak, 1 chicken) & a horchata. The steak was flavorful with only a couple fatty pieces. The chicken was very juicy. The beans were piping hot & the rice was also very warm but both were a bit bland imo. The horchata was deliciously sweet without being too overpowering. If Google Maps had half stars I’d give it a 3.5, but the friendly & quick service bumped it to a 4. I don’t think I’ll come by again, but I’m glad to have finally tried it out!“

“We were really just looking for a casual post-bowling, Sunday night burrito. Manchamanteles is near our home and had great ratings, so we went. This place is SO much more than a Sunday night burrito! The staff is welcoming and proud of their place and food. The decor is cheerful and fun. The drinks? Yes please! But the food! OMG. My husband said his steak burrito was “the best he’d ever had”. The chips and salsa were fabulous- so flavorful and not just chopped peppers and tomatoes. The guacamole is a tasty and artful display. You have to go.“

“Omg! Everything was so delicious! The tortillas are pillowy soft and flavorful. I tried 3 different Tacos and I can't decide which I liked most. The queso fundito with chorizo was fabulous and my husband loved his steak burrito. The margaritas were yummy too. Our waiter, Diego, was fun and so helpful. We will be back!“

“Best steak tacos hands down, I was a skeptical at first but I've come to realize that their steak slaps,!! Burritos are a bit large, I like mine nice and tight, but the steak here is just amazing!! We used to go to la pasaditas, but they got crazy expensive, not worth it anymore, so we now go here!!

It looks small from the outside, but it’s enormous in flavor! It’s a very cute and nicely decorated place. Staff is incredibly nice and helpful. But the food… it rocks! We ordered the Orden de Quesobirria and a Carne en su Jugo and a Agua de Jamaica (hibiscus water) and a Horchata (rice water). The Carne stew was delicious! So many levels of flavors. The birria was fantastic! Levels and levels of flavor. Will definitely be back for the Menudo this weekend. See you all here!“

“Lu Lu’s restaurant is a GEM! She treats her customers like family and is just the sweetest! The food is always hot and delicious - my favorite is her pambazo sandwich. “Stopped here twice this week! Once for lunch and a second time for late a dinner. Lunch I had the burrito with barbacoa, which was very good! We order the empanadas both times we visited. The empanadas were amazing and I will order them anytime I am there!

2024 update: they no longer have barbacoa as a meat option, which honestly sucks because it was very good. I still really like their truck stop nachos and think they’re the best nachos to share. Unlike typical nachos that don’t have enough toppings, it seems like these nachos are layered so nearly every chip has cheese/toppings on it!“

“I want to start off by saying I love this place it’s one of my go to spots in Logan square for Mexican food they have really good sazón, their tacos, sopes, chilaquiles all really good but today I ordered a grilled chicken plate and was a little disappointed it looked very simple I was expecting some grilled onions or some grilled chiles or even a grilled nopal but this is what I got don’t get me wrong everything tasted amazing the rice the beans n chicken even the salad“

“Ever since our former far north side Mexican go-to restaurant had a fire and reopened without the same quality of food we used to love, my partner and I have been looking for a new delivery and eat-in joint. We love how awesome the universe of Mexican food is here in Chicago but a lot of the eateries on the far north side are just kind of meh. Nobody deserves to eat meh Mexican food in Chicago, ever. It took us a year and a half to finally find Taqueria El Charro and we’re completely blown away. I’ve lived in Chicago for 21 years and he’s lived in Chicago almost as long. I used to teach English in Pilsen. Once I had a chance to move back home to New York City and I sat in a Chicago Mexican restaurant at 18th and Ashland and cried because I didn’t want to leave Chicago Mexican food behind. So, this place has some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten here in my adopted hometown. I don’t say that lightly. You don’t kid around with Mexican food in Chicago. I cannot emphasize how quietly awesome this place is.“

“Me and the wife had dinner her for our anniversary. Nice atmosphere. Nice Latin music to match. Brussel sprout appetizer was superb. I had a wood fired ribeye steak. It was good but I had to say I was expecting it to be better. My wife had the Pescado(fish fillet) and she said it was good as well. I don’t trust my wife much when it comes to fancy food cuz she’s a picky eater and is more a burger, pork chop or fish fry kind of gal. Overall it was a very nice dinner for both of us and wouldn’t mind coming here again.“

“I stopped by to try out the pozole. I was prepared to be disappointed as I have been with most restaurant pozole. The bar is pretty high as I have a friend that makes it best homemade. I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was. The broth was not rushed which resulted in such rich flavors. Every spoonful was filled with meat and hominy as well thanks to the generous servings in the soup. The taste reflects the patience and love that it was made with. The price point was pretty amazing as well. I will undoubtedly come back for more.“

“Honestly, best fish tacos I have ever had. This is my second time coming and it did not disappoint. My wife enjoyed her steak and Al pastor taco combo. I had the two fish (grilled) taco combo and it tasted even better the second time. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, and even better, the service and staff were nothing but fantastic. I have always seen this place in passing and it always caught my attention, since I had it, I haven’t found any other fish tacos that I have enjoyed as much as this place. The price for the two of us, including drinks, was $45. Pricey but fare portions and we did not leave with an empty stomach. I highly highly recommend at least trying the steak and fish tacos.“
